Im talking about Mhz not Ghz they are two completely different things..

Oh! I see! Well in that case I guess I are rong!

lol  but when i run rsc free server, it used 100% cpu usage. when run member server it uses like 38%-60% or somethin. someone told me that java will use up as much of my computers potential as possible, idk if this is true or what. should i email jagex?

If it changes between members and free servers, it's obviously not the game. The ads maybe ?

hmm, idk. good thinkin 8) but idk what it is.. maybe the server count or idk

Different coding. The coding for RS1 was maybe junk compared to that of RS2? Who knows... it really makes no difference as it isn't going to harm you or anything. It isn't a big deal, my CPU is running at 100% like 99% of the time I am using it...

first im talkin about rs1 free and rs1 members :D and 2nd, i have really bad lag when im running rs1 free server. and on rs2, on free server i have no lag but still 99-100% usage

Mhz and Ghz are two completely different things. You are refering to Ghz with your laptop at the moment. Please do you research before criticizing other people.

GHz and MHz are EXACTLY the SAME THING!

Hz (hertz) is a unit of measurement. It represents cycles per second (1/seconds).

G (giga) is 10^9 so 1GHz is 1,000,000,000 Hz

M (mega) is 10^6 so 1Mhz is 1,000,000 Hz

Therefore 1000Mhz equals 1 GHz.

They are just different ways to represent the same unit of measurement.

So in your world... Tons are unrelated to Pounds? Yards aren't 3 Feet?

As PhrstBrn has already explained, they are different amounts of the same unit. Hence they are identical, and thus Zonda is correct.

Hertz can be used to measure other things than clock speed however, such as FSB. That does not change the fact that "Ghz" and "Mhz" refer to the same unit.

I recomend you do *your* research, and here's a link to get you started:

Doubt u can upgrade the CPU cuz you have to rip out the keyboard and everything to get to the mobo. If you are willing and you know what your are doing u can get it to 1.2 ghz without frying your computer. Or, you can software overclock it a lil to like 1 gig. Make sure you get a stand cuz the bottom of the laptop will be very hot. Dell can not be overclocked by jumper or bios settings so you have to use a software. Its not that great but still an improvement. 512 mb should be enough. Doubt ur playing much games on that machine. Frankly 512 is perfect for most uses. I play rs on a Dell XPS B1000 with 512mb of ram and 1 ghz P3. I cant tell the difference between it and the "new" Dell Precision i got from the company my dad works for. The computer had a cracked mobo so they decided to throw it out, i bought a Precision 650 mobo off ebay. The thing had 4 gig of ram in it...a total waste lol.

You 'don't' 'rip out the keyboard' to get to your motherboard, anyways. And i totally agree with Pyro's first post.. It isn't advisable for a computer illiterate person to be fiddling with his laptop... And no offence if you ARE computer literate or anything, just givng an example. So, yeah... And the sockets will cause a problem with the CPU and your motherboard may not support the newer DDR type of RAM. A decent notebook laptop would probably turn out cheaper than upgrading anyways.

rofl mind telling me how to get to the mobo without taking out the keyboard?

I had to take off the keyboard, touchpad, the display/monitor, and a bunch of plastic (the case materials) to even GET to motherboard. (I upgraded it from a PIII to a P4 mobo). It was a PAIN.

By the time I took out the motherboard, I had taken everything out of the plastic (and it was lying all over the table).

It was a learning experience, I'll say. Not for rookies.

well, this comp on dial-up plays rs alot faster with no lag hardly as apose to my cable connection.. :?:

i was talking about the front side bus which most computers only have 800Mhz due to their motherboard restrictions.

With Ghz i was talking about the CPU's speed. I was refering to the motherboard when Zonda said he has a 1.5 CPU.

Then say that instead of calling them MHz and GHz. And just so you know, there are/were CPUs at MHz before technology allowed us to go above 1 GHz. MHz and GHz doesn't make us able to guess what you're talking about.

There are processors up to 3.8 GHZ that use 800MHZ FSB. I fail to see how that is relevant. His socket will limits his upgrading options, his Front Side Bus will not.

[Removed]

Why, because you can't admit you're wrong ? So you go and flame... Nice attitude there.

EDIT: Removed, huh ? Next time I'll quote you so it can't go away.

My laptop specs:

Pentium M 1.86 ghz

1024MB ram (1 x 1024mb)

Geforce Go 6800

And an assortment of other rubbish that doesn't really matter.

You can overclock your CPU to get the most out of it. I wouldnt recommend this unless you know what your doing as you can damage ur hardware.

There is, however, a step by step guide at:

http://hardware.earthweb.com/chips/article.php/603051

I wouldn't even suggest overclocking a laptop.

There' just no efficiant way to deliver the additional cooling which would be required to keep the CPU temp down.
