9Fade1
Football(true Football not that American Kind) Is overrated in the top leagues (EPL- English Premier League) with the same 4 teams at the top, each year it gets harder for the lower clubs to break into the EPL with the stupid parachute hing the FA give to the relegated teams. They also seem to get special treatment (West ham only fined for wrong doings) While my local team Luton Town get basically get into the dirt for something that happened with the past administration, and nothing to to do with who owns it now. (The Fl and Fa have no sympathy for lower division teams) even if the matches in the lower divisions are 100% more exciting the the EPL
1_man_army
Just to end the argument, how can football be boring when a player can do this. Goals like that are worth all the 0-0 draws and all the negative defensive play. Those are the special moments that make this sport brilliant. You have to love the Argentinian commentators...genio, genio, genio lol He who learns must suffer, and, even in our sleep, pain that cannot forget falls drop by drop upon the heart, and in our own despair, against our will, comes wisdom to us by the awful grace of God. - Aeschylus (525 BC - 456 BC)
Faux
Hitting a baseball is child's play compared to the pressure THAT guy is under (he's arguably the world's best goalkeeper though) Wait... that's not Casillas :P :: Guess the Movie Contest Champion: pfilc23 ::
Aj907
One of the reasons I hate soccer the most is because of 0-0 ties. When I want to watch a sport I want to see a winner and a loser. I hate it when players/fans are happy when their teams tie. I dont want to watch a sport for hours to see absolutely no score. I agree baseball is boring to watch but is fun as hell to play. One of the hardest thing to do in sports is hit a baseball. If you disagree with this statement your either good as hell or haven't played against quality players. But then again I am an American so of course the majority of us are biased against soccer, just like others our biased against our style of football. 25709th to 99 Fishing - 2-5-
BlueLancer
But then again I am an American so of course the majority of us are biased against soccer, just like others our biased against our style of football. I've watched tons of american football games, it's not that it's a bad game, it takes a lot of physical strength and cunning.. But compared to a 0-0 soccer game that could have a ton of exciting situations or even missed penalties (plus the game is never cut off bar corners/goal kicks), an american football game is boring as hell. You see some 15-20 seconds of gameplay and listen to minutes and minutes of recap about what just happened. I always do something else while watching AFL (But you're right, 0-0's are dumb, some bookmakers even offer refunds on losing '1st goal scorer' bets or final results if no goals have been scored, which is rare considering this isn't offered in any other sport)
Zygimantas
I don't get how Olympics aren't as important in soccer... I mean basketball basically has the same things as soccer.. The Olympics, FIBA world championship, and the eurobasket. But the Olympics are still the most important.. why aren't countries putting their best soccer players forth in the Olympics, isn't it supposed to be a bigger honor then the other tournaments? 99 Hunter - November 1st, 200899 Cooking -July 22nd, 200999 Firemaking - July 29th, 201099 Fletching - December 30th, 2010

The best football players already have a congested season nowadays even without the olympics. Most teams want their best players rested during the close season rather than send them away to play in a tournament that isn't taken too seriously in the football world. Plus in the olympics there is an under-23 rule, with only a few players over that allowed in the team. (And don't get me even started on the possibility of their being a British team at 2012.) It's kind of like tennis I suppose. The best players don't think too much of it.
fatbill
Football can be entertaining in the right cercumstances for me. For instance if im with my mates or dad down the pub for example watching a euro final or important world cup match then I can enjoy it most of the time. Of course this depends if the teams are actually decent most of the time i would agree that football is boring. jemathonical
Uhm, pointless discussion? Everyone has their own preferences, deal with it. It just so happens to be that a lot of people like soccer/football. As for the topicstarter; you watched 5 minutes of a not-so-interesting match before you came to this conclusion and jumped to make a topic about it? Right, very good foundation for a good discussion. I haven't just watched 5 minutes of soccer. I've seen heaps of games on the TV. But I thought that the Olympics was supposed to be a pretty high standard. Either way, in every game of soccer they still pass the ball around the back 4 defenders. ^Sir Jem 05-The Bunny Drinking Blog?^ Click it!

RichieMcD
Baseball is what is boring. But still a great time out. A fight doesn't make a boring game exciting. Anyway Soccer has the reputation for pretty much the worse sports riots of all times, there have been many incidents where full scale riots have broken out, people have died etc etc.
Jaziek
I still don't understand how Superbowl is watched by like 40% of the entire american population when it's aired. Watching american football on TV must be the most boring thing you can use a television for. Watching the superbowl isnt about the actual, game, its about the experience. You dont spend most of the time watching the damn thing, you spend most of the time eating and drinking. Its fun to do with a few mates, even in england, where it starts at 11pm, I still find it worth staying up all night. I do enjoy watching american football in general though, and I know a lot of people dont. Proper football is still miles better though.

loi86
Yeah I am with you, fun game to play when you are little, then you move up to tackle football in 5th-6th grade. But I would never pay to watch soccer, and very rarely pay to watch our kind of football. Retired from Runescape September 1, 2008
