Igor
A shot clock would completely ruin the game. One of the reasons soccer/football is so great is because of how hard it is. You need to have skill to put the ball in the net, as its pretty hard to do, and scores over 4 at the professional level are very rare. For other sports like american football, you don't even have to have talent. For example, a linemen? just has to be very large and fairly strong. Also, for basketball, if you are not tall (for the most part, there is always exceptions) then you will have a much harder time playing. And soccer/football is life. So i might be a little biased  And if you haven't seen a priemership game live then you haven't lived! ;) If a man is not a worker, he is nothing.BOSS. Ginger_Warrior
And if you haven't seen a priemership game live then you haven't lived! ;) Take a game with Middlesbrough vs. United. Middlesbrough just play out for 0-0 draw because the 1 pt against a big team means something. It requires no skill at all to defend - just stick 5 in the midfield and choke off Ronaldo, Anderson, Nani and Giggs. Without the ball, Tevez and Rooney can't do a thing. On the other hand, Middlesbrough might get a lucky break and score. That really requires no skill at all, and those matches are so frustratingly boring. :wall: | Favourite Game Music | Last.fm | HYT Friend Chat Rules |

Football is extremely hard, and there's so many rules you have to follow. Of course you have to have talent. I could stick Kevin James in there (this is an example), and I betcha he wouldn't be able to block ANYBODY. Oh, and on the basketball comment. The Lakers have a dude on their team who is around 5'5 to 6 feet, and he's great. You have no idea...
Yomyth105
 so typical. im not a soccer megafan or something but i have respect for the great game. just because it is low scoring doesnt mean it is boring. if u watched other games that were played by two greats u would have fun watching it. unfortunatley it is one game and changing the rules in soccer can make it much more different. it may be boring but its not going to change much. i suggest for them to make it... cant pass back to golie- which means teams cant waste time and no fouls unless someone is really hurt. alot of fouls r called for nothing. again there is really no way of changing the rules to make it high scoring. and ppl who say they r overpaid is a big joke! soccer is hard and they run so many miles here and there... everyone must be fit to play unlike in baseball where many r overweight. Da Pirates
I'm glad im not the only one who thinks this. I mean I saw on Sportscenter a 90 minute soccer game and the final score was 0-0. I mean WTF a 0-0 tie?! BR BR BR? HUEHUEHEUEHUE
xSxqPowerx
Soccer is so fun to watch, in my opinion. I could give reasons why, but clearly no one is going to be persuaded to a different line of thinking here, so I won't.
jackattack
Soccer isn't really boring just not very interesting. But fifa has to be one of the funnest sports games ever. Baseball is what is boring. But still a great time out. My carbon footprint is bigger than yours...and you know what they say about big feet. These are the times that try mens souls... Bauke
Uhm, pointless discussion? Everyone has their own preferences, deal with it. It just so happens to be that a lot of people like soccer/football. As for the topicstarter; you watched 5 minutes of a not-so-interesting match before you came to this conclusion and jumped to make a topic about it? Right, very good foundation for a good discussion. ilya
The sport I think is boring to watch is American Football. Here's how it went when I last tried to watch it: 5 minutes of watching guys set up on the field with sports commentary. 15 seconds of actual play and trying to figure out where the ball went. 5 minutes of "recap commentary" while the new set up is made, with close zoom shots of the coaches and random players walking around the field. Repeat. Don't know where the ball goes? Damn. I'm in love with (American) football, it used to be my life. People love the sport because they love the drama and excitement. This year's Superbowl, the Giants were down by 4 points with 1:15 left on the clock, at the Patriots 17. That means Eli Manning had to get that ball 83 yards down the field in that small amount of time. Sorry to get off topic, but I just had to give an example to tell you Europeans how exciting that game is. :] No 'ffence Hellbellz (I always respected your posts) but that doesn't sound very exciting. I've played pretty much all the ball sports out there (I was even on my schools soccer team for 2 years) but nothing even come close to skateboarding. The exhilaration, the rush and all the good times is twenty times more then in anything else I've ever played.
ThurinEthir
First of all, nearly all sports are fun to play. Even I can get a bit of fun out of playing American football. However, most are boring to watch. At least team sports. (American) football and baseball stop every few seconds (This is coming from a pretty big Red Sox fan...)...Basketball, hockey and soccer are a bit better, the action doesn't really stop. But yes, Olympics soccer sucks. The World Cup is a lot better. Cenin pân nîd, istan pân nîd, dan nin ú-cenich, nin ú-istach.Ithil luin eria vi menel caran...Tîn dan delu. Phil
I was going to answer half seriously on this thread, until I read the words 'in the olympics'. There's your problem.
unknownmasterofnothing
Agreed soccer is so boring, takes so long for a ball to get across the field only to be kicked back and then back and then back. Maybe make the field smaller. Fun to play though. Hockey is similar. American football is better at least with the jumping, jukes, etc... like a game of tag. Baseball is really boring also. But also boring to play, you barely get to play unless you are a pitcher.
eggzs
Football is only "boring" in the Olympics cause its an U-23 tournament, if you want excitement watch the actual leagues or major tournaments such as Euro, Copa America, World Cup etc.
jjrox32
Ugh, I can't stand to watch soccer. Well, it's not really soccer's fault, it's just that I can really only watch fast paced sports like lacrosse. Soccer and baseball are too slow paced for me to enjoy. UNLESS it goes to a shootout, then it gets intense.

How2PK
I don't want football to be a high scoring game. It is perfect this way. More doesn't mean better. UNLESS it goes to a shootout, then it gets intense. Agree about the shootout part (even though I like soccer otherwise too)... Probably one of the hardest tasks in the sports world falls to the goalkeeper in that situation. You stand in front of a massive goal and must deflect a ball coming 80mph at you, which could come from ANY direction. That's intense. Especially if the goalkeeper actually manages to save. Look at this Euro 2008 penalty save for example... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CU_GuBDy1ag http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CU_GuBDy1ag Hitting a baseball is child's play compared to the pressure THAT guy is under (he's arguably the world's best goalkeeper though)
