Bigfoot?

Featured Replies

Anyone have any info on the DNA testing?

Apparently, they had (3) samples. The first was "contaminated", 2nd was human, and 3rd was possum (taken from the intestine, so they claim possibly because the creature had eaten a possum). As much as I'd love to see real evidence come out, I think this is a hoax. There's a lot of inconsistancies in their stories and apparently this Tom Biscardi has been involved with some hoaxes in the past (he wasn't behind them but was a part of them). From what I've read, he's considered kind of a huckster in the Bigfoot research community. My prediction is that the body will somehow mysteriously "disappear" or get destroyed before real scientists are allowed to examine it (which is supposed to happen on Monday).

If bigfoot is supposed to be cross between a human and monkey, why would it be eating possums?

Well, these guys are from Georgia afterall...rofl!

here's a link to the press conf: http://www.king5.com/video/index.html?nvid=273241

Very unimpressive DNA results. No further analysis to speak of yet. Did they say they're going to do a second round of testing?

Edit: Suggestions that the guys who found it can't get their stories straight:

http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld ... 1219.story

Whitton and Dyer have so far offered three different tales so far about how they came to find the creature:

In one, the animal was shot by a former felon, and the men followed it into the woods. In a second version, they found a "family of Bigfoot" in North Georgia mountains. In the third, the two were hiking and stumbled upon the corpse with open wounds.

Also there is a video with a picture of it's mouth and a picture of one alive in the woods. You'd think they'd go absolutely wild with a camera and show off every angle of this thing, not just a few pics.

The picture is just a picture of a Bigfoot costume in a freezer. Some store sells ones that look exactly like that.

Guess Bigfoot's a redneck ;)

But then again, you fail to realize that 101% of the people in this universe hate you. Yes, humankind's hatred against you goes beyond mathematical possibilities.
That tears it. I'm starting an animal rebellion using my mind powers. Those PETA bastards will never see it coming until the porcupines are half way up their asses.

On a serious note, so what, the DNA test didn't come out right or something?

Nessie > Bigfoot.
Nessie > Bigfoot > You

Actually N0M is right, I'd much rather have them discover a sea monster then a land creature. Sea monsters are so much more "thrilling" then something like Bigfoot. (Unless it's the Cloverfield monster)

I believe in neither, by the way. But indeed, the Loch Ness Monster is far more fascinating than some hairy man in the woods.

Unless, of course, it's the Cloverfield monster.

This story was on Fox News, CNN, blah blah. If it is real, hope it is, I mean one guy is a cop and the other is a Correctional Officer, so they are probably not lying.

Oh and I found the article for the DNA results: http://www.comcast.net/articles/news-general/20080815/NEWS-BIGFOOT-DC/

Apparently the guys who found the Bigfoot are also Bigfoot enthusiasts and sell Bigfoot merchandise... if you ask me, the chances of a Bigfoot enthusiast actually coincidentially meeting Bigfoot are very small. Sounds like they're trying to get better business if you ask me.

I just love how the news report sais that the DNA evidence "failed to prove bigfoots existence." :lol:

I don't think they really stop to think that we'd need a known bigfoot sample as a basis of comparison to actually prove that this is bigfoot DNA.

^Heh, yeah. What did they plan on comparing it to, monkeys/humans? If indeed it did resemble a monkey or human DNA (and I believe this test did resemble a humans), then what? Skeptics would say it's a monkey, or its a human, depending on the case. I mean... what would be considered a successful DNA test?

I think what they're doing is largely to generate media hype. The reason being that everyone is going to see "DNA evidence" as authoritative, which it is in the right contexts, but what it can actually tell us in this case is a different story.

What it can do, I suppose, is determine one of the following:

  • -- if the DNA is manufactured nonsense such a bunch of random G's, C's, T's and A's with no genes/known genetic markers (I doubt that they'd go to that much effort to make a fake);

    -- if it's the DNA of a known organism and thus possibly a contamination of the sample/fake;

    -- if it's human DNA and thus possibly a contamination of the sample/fake;

    -- if it's DNA from another primate and thus a fake (try to match what it looks like with some semi-believable DNA), or;

    -- if the DNA is of an unknown mammalian species. To be successful as judged by modern science, it would presumably have to be similar to primate DNA (going by its appearance in the photos) but not identical to it. This kind of result, hopefully repeated in other labs, would prove that it's not human or other primate DNA.

I don't know exactly what they're looking for. The best I could see them doing is finding unknown DNA similar to a primate's. That's the best they could do, but in no way does that prove that this is "bigfoot DNA", whatever that is. They'd have to define the species before they define the DNA.

Again, I think they just want to awe people with big claims of having "DNA evidence". I'd say many people who hear that claim (including the media) won't actually analyse what it means.

Did anyone else notice Bigfoot was wearing shoes in the video footage? Right as he passes behind the log and turn around. He lifts up both feet and you can see shoes.

it can be just his feet/paws with snow under them... all you really see is the white 'sole'

and btw, it looks too humanly in the movie

Yeah the gait is very human-like.

When I went to Taos, New Mexico I heard all kinds of stories about Bigfoot sightings and stuff. A lot of crazy stuff happens in Taos ::' (Cattle Mutilations anyone!?!).

I suspect the case is not a matter of getting better at hunting things but getting better at creating hoaxes.

Bigfoot in New Mexico? I thought he'd be in like forests in the northwest or something. Where's the chupacabre, then?

Now as I read up more and more on this, I think this is all a hoax to advertise those guys website. Sad to see it though because they are both in positions of authority.

Perhaps it's no surprise that these guys aren't just innocent bystanders but have deep vested interests in the media hype. It's kind of sad that people like this have no qualms in duping others for their own selfish gains.

Or... the whole thing could be true. Somehow I think that's getting less and less likely.

Apparantly they were going to do an autopsy next (an autopsy of a gorilla costume? :lol: :P ) so it should be interesting to see what comes of that.

bigfoot, fake or not is iffy.

As For that russian thing, any good like designer or w/e could fake that.

and that flying thing in mexico, well uh... maybe mother nature hit her period, lol. :o :o

The Russian thing can easily be faked provided you had the materials, but it definitely looks more convincing to me than the Bigfoot picture.

And I still have no explanation for the witch...

That must be a big freezer to hold a 7" foot 7", 500 pound monkey and still have room.
