Obama. He's the one that wants to end this war, which would be a MASSIVE help to the economy. Mccain wants to cut taxes for EVERYONE, and even though it sounds good, Congress won't have much to spend, and we're already spending money we don't have.

Bush is a prime example that our voters aren't too bright. This year we were this close to electing Spongebob.

In what way would ending the war help? And McCain wants to end it, but only after Iraq is safe.

You guys have to realize, Conservatives don't *like* the war, but we think that it's NECESSARY. Everyone hates cleaning the bathroom, nut it needs to be done.

Dizzle, we've pretty much always had a deficit, I mean, some presidents get rid of it, but then the next one brings it back. Why everyone focuses on Bush I have no idea. Also, how much do you think Obama's Health Care plan is gonna be? And Obama's policiy of redistributing the wealth won't really help the economy either. But when you get down to it, neither McCain nor Obama will be able to bring the economy back to the way it was in the next 4 years. Maybe 5 or 6, but not four.

Jack, Saruman, Powell just put you in your place:

Let's play this down as much as possible:

  • [*:1njysitb]Well, Powell's really a close friend of McCain so he really supports McCain more.

[*:1njysitb]It's not like donated anything so he doesn't support Obama.

[*:1njysitb]He's only looking for a black President, so his opinion's invalid! All these blacks got each other's backs covered.

*insert typical McCain fake-smile*

I thought I'd get in first.

And Obama wants to reduce all emissions by 80% in 10 years without nuclear power plants and the cost of alternative fuels being so high? GG.

McCain said 60% in 10 years, that is not really do-able in my opinion either.

Only thing that disturbs me is how Obama is against nuclear energy. Of all the alternative sources he talks about, nuclear isn't one of them

This.

And I don't know how he (Obama) thinks he's gonna lower fuel costs yet lower emissions, that's laughable. The only way to lower emissions like he says is to tax the living hell out of fossil fuels so it makes alternatives cheaper. But that would make oil companies go under, which would be bad for the ecomomy and loss of lots of jobs, and we all want to fight for those poor working class families amirite?!?!?!

Also I wouldn't attack McCain on his negative campaigning, although i must say his is worse, they both do it.

there is a way to cut emmisions out completely. there was a car developed in california called the e2 it was entirly electricalally powered and several of the fule stations were converted to supply these cars with electricity instead of gas. it was actually cheaper than gas and had roughly the same mileadge. unfortunatly california got sued and every last e2 was recalled and destroyed but they'd be easy to make again. and this would actually creat jobs because these cars could be sold over seas and more factories could be made. and the fact is most american oil is imported. america only has 6(or 3 i can't remember) percent of the worlds oil reserves but uses 30% of the worlds oil suplies.

as to nuclear it is a good alternative energy source but there is no way to effectivly deal with the raido active waste. what i'm more concerened about is that neither party is talking about funding programs that could reduce raido active waste. one example is a bacteria that was recently discovered that actually eats radio active wast and converts it into harmless elements but neither party is mentioning it

Punish the people that work hard for their money by taking their money and giving it to the lazy. As if poor people didn't take enough advantage of the current welfare.

Ahh yes, I forgot. People are on benefits because they're lazy, not because they possibly might need them to pay for fuel to heat their homes, or put food on the table, despite working just as hard with some crap job or bringing up children.

Who do you think you're talking to? My family came here with *nothing*. My parents' degrees were considered worthless in this country so they had to go through school again whilst working and get re-certified.

This is in Canada where we get taxed more than the Americans. Don't tell me that it's impossible to get out of poverty especially in a capitalist country like the US.

Powell Backs Obama

Watch the linked video if you get a chance, very powerful comments from Colin Powell. For those of you who don't know, Powell was the Secretary of State for Bush's first term, he tried to convince everyone else on Bush's team to not invade Iraq. He's highly, highly respected among most republicans. Sorry for the spoiler on the election guys, I mean I'm a republican and even I concede defeat here. Obama has done brilliantly these past few months and would have won the election easily, but I'm now thinking its going to be a landslide.

Urgh, that's another reason I want McCain to loose. So all the conspiracy theories and people saying "Bush will declare martial law on election day and not give up power" will finally shut up. Do people honestly think that could even remotely happen?

It will be a glorious day when I see Bush leave office, not because I hate Bush, but because then I can turn to 40% of the internet and say "told ya so"

Well done for your parents, but do you want a medal or something? You ain't the only one to come from a poor background, so get over yourself.

The fact of the matter is some people don't earn enough to afford the basic essentials of living. Those aren't essentials decided by them, that's essentials decided by independent surveys, and there are still many people living below the poverty line. Such people need to be topped up from the government. Those who exploit the system are scum and they're in a minority of those who claim for benefits.

For the matter, Canada has a capitalist economy with a (fairly) high tax rate. All countries now have a capitalist economy of some sort, so I don't see how your comparison to the US is at all relevant.

You really didn't have to state the last sentence. Your lack of comprehension on anything makes me suspect how you even survived life as long as you have now. I'm sick and tired of explaining things just so you can understand how they link to one another.

Are you actually going to answer my point or do you just want to make smear games? Because if you do, I can play all day through PMs.

Yes, what it runs on may be cheaper, but did you look at how much those cars cost to make, and how much they will sell for? It's alot. and don't we make electricity by burning coal? Fail.

Also: McCain is actually a good bit more left than alot of republicans, and has been essentially battling people from his own party at times, but when you run for president you have to represent the party, so some of his stuff might not even be what he wants to do/will do.

It seems pretty obvious that Obama will win the election, all i can say is it will be fun to watch him, in my opinion, fail. ::'

Yea, Obama most likely will win; but it's happened before, when everyone thought the other presdient would win, infact, the newspapers printed "_____ won!" when it fact the others person didn't.

I'm reading an interesting book about it right now.

Statistics disagree, the average polls still give 6-14% lead to Obama, compared to Kerry/Bush having nearly equal 50/50 or Bush with a 1-2% lead in 2004 pre-election polls. Heck, even betting agencies give a 6 odds for McCain to win compared to Obama under 1.20. Unless something absolutely catastrophic happens, Barack Obama is the 44th president.

I'd say that you're about right. Going by recent polls and now this endorsement, Obama will probably win.

If he does get in, It'll be interesting to see what he can do with the economy and the country in general. Best of luck to him (or McCain, should the unlikely happen).

I wasn't talking about 2004, but an election whn the odds were way greater.

And GW, just an odd bit. You say you're a marxist correct? Then why do you agree so much with Obama if he's not a marxist? Also: Obama's mother and father were marxists.

Agreeing with other people doesn't mean they share your ideas :wall:

Unless you're a stubborn [wagon], you're bound to recognize other people out there with good ideas, who don't share your stance on politics.

I went and saw Mccain today, shook his hand and got interviewed by the Associated press and CNN. I must say, compared to his performances on TV which are "meh", his live ones are much much much better; even better then Obama's live speeches (who I saw a week or two ago now, live) It seems that now that Mccain is quite far behind in the polls he is starting to drop all of the posturing and other political BS in his speeches, and by saying what he actually thinks sounds much better. If I could vote right now I would definitely go for Mccain, particularly because the more I hear about Obama's policies the more he scares me. From this idea of ignoring the constitution and banning guns to "spreading the wealth around" AKA socialism; he has a hell of a lot of charisma but some horrible actual policy ideas.
