I agree that we need to close social gaps to an extent, but if we made everyone equal, our nation and economy would go down the tubes. We already try to close the gap with Welfare, etc. and the Poor don't pay taxes. Even though Obama says that the rich people need to help out more, the top 20% of income earners in the US pay 80% of the total income taxes. Is that fair?

Well, considering they own most of the wealth, I'd say it's pretty fair. Furthermore, I'm not interested in what's fair, I'm interested in what's right. Right and wrong are ultimately relative concepts, but I find it absolutely incredible that in the richest country in the world there are people living in poverty. This just should not be the case. No one in the world should be living in poverty, but people are too quick to say, "That's mine, not yours, go get your own."

Reading that thing I don't really see what is bad about it. Maybe I'm stupid, which is likely. But it seems like a good thing that in the past only one person in a country would own a castle. If 5% of the population own castles now wouldn't that be a good thing? And seeing as it's the UN I wouldn't give it much weight. This is the same UN that sent an inspector to see what a racist country America is THIS YEAR.

How on earth did you get the second option from magekillr's post? It sounds like you completely manufactured that from nowhere.

I got it from when he started a thread about how much he hates America on the 4th of July.

My carbon footprint is bigger than yours...and you know what they say about big feet.

Wrong. I hate the arrogance of Americans celebrating nationalism and encouraging the thought that America is the greatest country on Earth that can do no wrong. The blind patriotism. America's breed is the worst...Australia's might be close.

It's just our independence day, any country that has gained it's independence from somebody celebrates it, Sheesh -.-. And you've never been to America have you? K.

"That's mine, not yours, go get your own."

That's because it is theirs ;). Plenty of these mean nasty rich conservatives donate alot to charity, and try to help people out now and then. We also pay for poor people's welfare!

He lives here. Which makes it worse. You think he'd realize that we don't celebrate it by walking over a bridge of Mexicans.

catch it now so you can like it before it went so mainstream

I agree with mage. Americans are filthy, supersized, and arrogant people. I'm ashamed to live here sometimes.

I am Texan.

Seriously, when you meet an [wagon], do you just think "Oh, he's such an American..." instead of just thinking of him as an [wagon]? Because you'll come across them everywhere, I'm afraid.

I've studied Sociology for 2 years now and have witnessed enough of it in person to know that it is just being an American sometimes.

Did you seriously just mock the deaths of three thousand people? Grow up.

I'm not mocking, I'm just representing the people that don't care about anything unless it affects them directly.

Imma edit just so one of you's don't catch a stroke...

As far as my observations have taken me, you guys are far and above number one when it comes to patriotism. We Aussies don't even come close. Sure, we love our country and celebrate it every year (Jan. 26th), but the blind part that you (and I) detest isn't really here as much.

Oh yes, we are far far far above you. By close, I meant you might be in second place, but I could be wrong about that too. Lol.

Then leave God damnit, I'll tell you one thing for sure: Europe ain't any better. Their society in general is crumbling (from what my dad says, he's a reporter) also, you should be PROUD to live here. I'm not saying laugh at less fortunate people in third world countries, but don't be so naive. Be grateful you are in a successful thriving country. Where you, unless you're extremely poor, lazy, or just down right unlucky, will have food on your plate. Be grateful, you can say "[bleep] you George Bush!" And you won't be thrown in jail for 10 years. Be grateful you can be an atheist, and be proudn to be one, and you won't also be thrown in jail for declaring it. Be grateful there's a chance to move up on the ladder of success. Be grateful that school is free. (Before college) Be grateful that we have a form of democracy, and not totalitarianism. Be grateful you can leave the country freely. Be grateful you can say '[bleep] you america' and you won't be jailed for lack of pride in your country.

Seriously, it sickens me to see someone say that. Maybe you just live ina piece of [cabbage] town? Ever thought of that? I know a lot of stuck up Europeans, (and nice ones) and a lot of very nice, humble generous Americans.

Me behave? Seriously? As a child I saw Tarzan almost naked, Cinderella arrived home from a party after midnight, Pinocchio told lies, Aladin was a thief, Batman drove over 200 miles an hour, Snow White lived in a house with seven men, Popeye smoked a pipe and had tattoos, Pac man ran around to digital music while eating pills that enhanced his performance, and Shaggy and Scooby were mystery solving hippies who always had the munchies. The fault is not mine! if you had this childhood and loved it put this in your signature!
