A brief question about WW2

From my knowledge, Americans knew about concentration camps, but they refused to believe that such inhumane things were going on in Europe just like many other countries have disbelieved the facts in the very early stages of the war. America only woke up after they got destroyed at Pear Harbor

Pearl Harbor was a clerical error that could have been stopped due to brass that refused to believe they weren't simply planes of our own origin, and it could have been stopped by the sheer power. It was quite the below-the-belt punch, there, as an ambassador was on the way - very much to the Japanese emperor's knowledge. I don't know if the people who made those errors were dishonorably discharged or what, but it wouldn't surprise me. Although I do believe you're right, people knew Jews were being sent to camps, but like most of the world, people thought they were work camps. Bad, but not something to fight quite the powerful nation over.

catch it now so you can like it before it went so mainstream

Wasn't the triple entente world war one? Triple entente vs. the triple alliance. But then they changed their names.

You are correct sir. Triple entente + triple alliance = WWI

The Axis of Evil vs the Allies = WWII

anyway... I don't think that America knew about the camps until they actually found them after the war ended and they invaded Germany.

Err, no, nobody knew about the concentration camps. People knew Jews were discriminated against, but they thought it was along the lines blacks were treated. They didn't know they were being "exterminated", as Hitler said. Where do you guys get these ideas, nobody knew anything about it except Germany :?

Italy took over nearly all of North Africa and the Mediterranean. Not too shabby, Kranked. Japanese fighters weren't just reasonable, they were crazy and patriotic and scared of nothing. They'd kill Americans with their bare hands if need be.

First three posts or so were all wrong, America didn't know about the genoicide, or at least they said they didn't know.

The terms you are looking for are the allied powers and the axis powers (they were not actually called the axis of evil, they're just evil because they lost ). I never remember hearing that America knew about the camps. Though I do remember that people would dismiss it as not true even if they heard about it.

The Axis of Evil actually refers to Iran, Iraq and North Korea.

EDIT: I should suppose Iraq is no longer on the 'list', since it was the Saddam regime that made it 'evil'.

I don't think North Korea is anymore. If they still are then they are on the way out.

It's not really a "country" anymore, either. More like a "mess".

The majority didn't know about the camps until after the war. The Nazi's kept it secret and used propaganda to recruit their army.

Do you really think the German's would fight for the Nazis if they really knew what was happening?

Iraq War. People are capable of doing extreme things for their motherlands.

And WW2 related, but strictly off topic:

After the war, UN felt so bad for the Jews that they moved some borders and made Israel. I just have to ask: When is our turn to have Israel? Communists and other political opponents were killed in death camps just like Jews. In fact, my great-grandfather was sent to a concentration camp for making an illegal paper. It was pure luck that made him get out in time to reproduce.

I was just thinking, in WW2, during the period America was in isolation and refused to join the war, did they know about Hitler's Death camps and Concentration camps, and the injustice some people suffered from?

Before There Was A Hitler, There Were Nazis In America

america was never in isolation it was a major player.

From a quick scanning from my previous knowledge, I'd have to say yes. Remember that the U.S. entered the war because of the bombing at Pearl Harbour, yet prior to them entering the war they refused to accept Jewish refugees from areas in Europe into their country, fully aware that they were under such conditions. I'm 98% sure about this though, however don't quote me on this lol.

Lol. I thought the US entered the war because a ship was attacking by a German submarine? And wasn't Pearl Harbor just like right after that though?

Wrong war, that was WWI.

(Side note: The Lusitania was deliberately sent into German-patrolled waters to provide a catalyst for American entry into WWI.)

There is no meaning or truth in life but that which we create for ourselves.
