Returning, what's new?

Featured Replies

I'm coming back to RS as a non-member after about two years away. What's new?

-=Edit=-

I definitely liked the old tutorial island better than the new tutorial...

For non-members

- Trade limit

- Wilde PK'ing gone and replaced with Revs that will eat you alive

- Grand Exchange made

- Bounty Hunter mini-game

- Dual Arena open to F2P

- Clan Wars made for F2P also, soon you will see another update in that

- Runecrafting guild open to F2P (50 RC to get in) - Also contains a minigame

- Runescape HD graphics

- New banking system (Probably a few more bank slots made since you been gone)

- New tut island as you said

, That's all I can remember from the top of my head :P

Trade limit? I guess that probably stopped the autoers, but seriously!?

*sigh*

What's Bounty hunter and Grand Exchange?

For non-members

But seriously, 2 years is a loooong time in rs (the above post is only about the last 6-9 months): almost the whole game has recieved an "overhaul": hunting and summoning have been added as new skill.. Countless new quests, A lot of new minigames (barbarian assault, pest control revamped, puro puro and a few more).. High level monster hunting has some amazing new area (god wars dungeon, barbarian ancients cave). - This Also gave many more high level armor pieces.

Slayer has recieved the needed updates (many "better" monsters of the current 1's at various caves)

treasure trails recieved 3 updates: first becomming very reliable and now 90% is useless (though the 10% is even better profit than before)..

Also skill specific there are countless number of updates that happened: just name a skill and I'll say a few...

First they came to fishing

and I didn't speak out because I wasn't fishing

Then they came to the yews

and I didn't speak out because I didn't cut yews

Then they came for the ores

and I didn't speak out because I didn't collect ores

Then they came for me

and there was no one left to speak out for me.

Trying things a bit. I came back after about 1 year and after playing for a few days, I began to understand the new updates. The major ones were mentioned in the above posts, but just explore around RS a bit.

Yeah -well 2 years is a while - anyway here's what you missed

RS got raided by macroers and rwters....like you would seriously see them everywhere...prices of things we're ridicoulously cheap but macroing was ruining the game.

Like you would easily see over 50 of them mining rune ess on a p2p server.

Anyway jagex then removed allmost all the methods methods of exchanging wealth so:

-trade limit (3k for f2p, 30k for p2p+quests)

-duel arena has a limit

-no more drop parties

-no more pking

-etc.

Anyway they've tried to replace these things with:

Bounty hunter-a pvp minigame that is vaguely similar to pking but in a much smaller area

Item lending - you can lend items without the risk of not getting it back.

Anyway that's the bad stuff - the good stuff is that there are not as many rwtsers( and i barely ever see macroers) and the Grand exchange which is kind of like an auction house which makes buying and selling really easy!

And better graphics :D

And other than that skill capes were a pretty big update - if you get 99 in a skill you can buy a cape that shows it off and you can do a unique emote!

What changed? EVERYTHING!

OH S***! He/she/it is back!

But seriously, 2 years is a loooong time in rs (the above post is only about the last 6-9 months)

2 years was a long time granted, but I think I hit most of the F2P updates head on XD

rabidmojo, you will find many changed. Best if you read the news archive on the site. This game might even seem alien to you, but remember, deep down is the cute fury thing called Runescape that you used to play and love. :D

And the Stronghold of Player Safety and Lumbridge Achievement Diary and Fist of Guthix. They all introduced good stuff into f2p. New combat equipment from FoG, new monsters with good drops from SoPS, and a ring that actually does something from Lumby Diary.

I don't know when the Stronghold of Security came out, but that was good too.

3k trade limit for F2P!?!?!??!?

So if I want to sell something, I can't make a trade of more than 3k?!?

That's BS...

No. You cannot give or away or recieve more than 3k. So you can sell a Rune Plate for 50k, but you cannot go lower or higher than 47k or 53k respectively. (THIS IS JUST AN EXAMPLE.)

Besides, the Grand Exchange has defeated the purpose of trading for your items with another player physically now.

My relaxation method involves a bottle of lotion, beautiful women, and partial nudity. Yes I get massages.

You misunderstood. Every item now has a market value. What that means is that you can't go above or below 3k of the item's worth.

On the Grand Exchange it works 5% above or below, but you never know who you'll be selling to or buying from and nobody's really sure how priority and pricing works.
