Deathmath
Uh, for me seagate, I like the warranty :) but really to be honest it shouldn't matter. Thoroughly retired, may still write now and again
blade995
Planning to buy a harddrive to use in an external drive, which one is preferred? I prefer Segate but it doesn't matter. They are both good brands. Get whatever is cheaper/more storage for the price.

OldJoe
Buy the one that has a pink external drive. [hide=]But yes, both are good brands[/hide] J'adore aussi le sexe et les snuff moviesJe trouve que ce sont des purs moments de vieJe ne me reconnais plus dans les gensJe suis juste un cas désespérantEt comme personne ne viendra me réclamerJe terminerai comme un objet retrouvé
Georgelemmons
Get the cheaper one of the two, as they are both good brands. Thanks to Uno for the awsome sig <
urbestfreind
toe-may-toe, to-mah-toe.... Seriously, both are excellent brands, and at my house we've got both between all 4 of our computers. You really can't go wrong with either. If you want my personal opinion, I like Seagate better, mostly due to the warranty, and it seems less prone to problems for me. Really, its all up to you, but since its external, I would check warranties carefully, as it's more prone to damage than one that will sit in your case. Make sure to pick out a proper case too. Steer away from plastic, for pretty much the same reason you shouldn't keep a laptop power supply on a carpet - overheating. Plastic doesn't play well with heat, so if its possible, get a metal one. Although these can still cause overheating, metal dissipates heat better....Unless I've been steered wrong (would like to know since I'm thinking about buying an external HD). Mind posting back what you choose, in case any other people like me are on here looking for an external drive? [hide=Funny Quotes]So you sucker punched a kid in the back of the head? das1330
you had a raptor in your laptop? What? Only one of the new velociraptors will even fit in a laptop, and even then they are not designed to be used in laptops. To answer the OP's question, as everyone else has said just pick one. Their reliability figures are so similar it is negligible.

Sinkhan
Honestly, tossing a coin would be just as an effective way as asking us to decide which brand you want. Prices, performance, and reputation are roughly the same. Nonetheless, I say go WD \ Something to fill my sig with until I find a replacement. Also check out my blug
Jernlov
For externals, I prefer WD. However if you're getting an enclosure, put a Seagate drive in it. Steam | Soup | Last.fm
The Observer
I personally have a Seagate drive and it's working great! I'd recommend Seagate myself, but go ahead and try WD if you want.

Faux
Another thing, I know both companies make their own externals (MyBook & FreeAgent), am I better off buying the enclosure/drive separately or just buy the pre-made ones? :: Guess the Movie Contest Champion: pfilc23 ::
