Disconnecting all the time!

Mellez

Recommended Posts

No one in the RS forums will listen. So I'm venting here.

I keep getting disconnected from RS every 5 minutes! It's annoying me to Hell and back.

I'm member, and it's a waste of 10 bucks AUD. I've wasted about 7 days of membership so far, just waiting for RS to let me on the game.

I had the same problem a couple of week back. I bought a new wireless internet gateway/network adapter and now it's fine.

With all the new updates on Runescape recently, many of the old wireless network adapters can't cope with all the downloading. That's my only suggestion, besides that I don't know sorry :D

You might wanna move this to the tech forum ::'

There's one thing you can try: delete the C:\WINDOWS\.jagex_cache_32 directory. I know this sounds very very crazy, but for me it works  Even a huge laggin' with "connection lost" every few seconds disapears when i do this :? Although it will take a while (2-15 minutes) for rs to load the first time after this -.-

Please put your seat in a upright position, your tray tables up and fasten your seat belts as we get ready to depart on the RS Fail plane.

OT:

It is not Runescape, it is YOU!

Solution.

1. Get better internet

2. Get a new computer

3. Learn enough about computers to tweak your computer

ps. I am having a bad day.

I'm on ADSL

I use a Macintosh

I have boardband

It happened before all these stupid updates (like, mid-2006)

Asynchronous DSL? If your plans good enough to be asynchronous, it probably isn't your connection itself. By 'boardband' I assume you mean high speed, not some sort of basement drum set. Do you use wireless? Try hooking your modem directly to your computer. If that doesn't help, request a replacement modem from your DSL company. Benchmark your connection and ping at a website like speedtest.net.

It sounds to me that it's more of an internal problem with your computer, your internet connection, or both. I suggest you might want to take your computer to best buy or any other computer place and have them look at it. They will have suggestions that would allow things such as Runescape to play when before they have not.

Paying overpriced charges for untrained techs at Best Buy to hit your machine with a bat and return it broken? No thanks. Find someone who knows computers, ask them what's up.

Saying you have broadband is a failed argument. Some people can have broadband yet still download at like 50-60kbps

It is a problem your end. Not jagex. End of.

Out of curiosity go here

http://speedtest.net/

and paste your result.

Another strange reason for disconnects could be other people doing things on via the same router. (For example if you're parents downloading something, your sisters uploading something, and you there trying to play a game. Just causes to much strain, especially if your using a low-spec router.)

Give more details to your problems please. Because

none of those are valid.

Play in Low Detail, dont have any other applications open, play on a world near to where you live (Eg, American, UK etc)

If all these fail, then you need to sort out a problem with your computer/connection.

I play on servers not near where I live (Australia) because they work better. And I already play on Low Detail.

The issue is at your end not at Jagex's.

You say you have ADSL and Broadband. They are basically the same thing just ADSL is a form of Broadband. That leads me to believe you don't know much about the more technical aspects of computing.

If you connect via wireless (laptop's mainly) then the connection will be dodgy, it's a downside of wireless technology. If your connection is wired, i.e. you have a lead from your PC to the modem/router then your connection should be stable.

If you are wired and having issues then you need to clear out the Java cache and delete all instances of Java from your PC. Then re-install the latest version of Java. This is probably a bit beyond your capabilities though and if you mess it up, you could mess up other aspects of your Internet so don't do it unless you are 100% sure of what you are doing. Get someone who knows what they are doing to help you out.
