Is prayer worth it?

Is prayer worth the huge price of the necessary bones? I have gotten to 20 prayer on quests and am wondering if I should spend my 200k on prayer.Also,if you think prayer is worth it how many levels could I get off of 200k?Everyone post opinions and suggestions.

Completely. Prayer allows you to do so much more in the game. You can do bosses with the right prayer level which is pretty much the best money right now. Plus piety is insane :D

Worth the cost? I'd say up until about 80, and then every level after that is too expensive for what it's worth. I still want 99 Prayer though. And still, it's much cheaper than it was before the altars came out from the Construction update.

prayer is definitely worth it but at your level i wouldn't recommend spending money on it until you have gotten it to around lvl 50. also dont spend money on it if you aren't a member because this means you are missing out on things that give a much bigger prayer boost (ectofuntus, gilded altar, etc)

In a word: yes. If only for the extended boost at boss monsters or during Slayer tasks.

Prayer is very worth it. You can give yourself an immunity (or reduction) to damage, you can boost your own combat stats, and even affect your items on death.

 

 

 

If you don't have money, it shouldn't be a priority, though. Until around 50 it's at least a bit reasonable to get your bones off kills.

Of course it's worth it. The benefits far outweigh the costs (at least in members it does).

43 prayer is great. It's certainly worth getting that. If your member, buy dragon bones and use a gilded altar. If not, then if your rich buy big bones to 43 prayer, otherwise just kill hill gaints (you're better off just leveling your stats if you can't kill hill gaints :lol: )

Once you hit 70+, it's really a pain to buy levels. I don't think that it's worth it to buy anything past 70.

Like others here, I really wouldn't go past 70-80 on that one. Piety is a very good prayer - BUT not useful in most situations. I got myself 70 because I had plenty of money to do so, but I didn't find myself using it very often. It's clearly more of a boss hunting prayer, and since I don't boss hunt, not all that great. You have to look at what your needs are. Most normal players just want protect from melee.

 

 

 

In your situation: considering your finances, and your low level, I really wouldn't put any money into prayer yet. Prayer is a bit of a luxury, start by buying yourself the basics like armor, weapons, pickaxe, axes, teleport runes(and the magic levels required for them), etc. Use that money for more important things. When you start feeling the need for having certain prayers (most notably item protect, protect from ranged/mage/melee, piety) then that's when you start putting money into it.

most i'd get is 70. to bloody expensive for me to purchase and killing them would slow my def' training. but after 70 imo isnt useful unless your doing it for higher combat or longer lasting prayer

Yes of course prayer's worth it, from live to death you can find a prayer that's right for you.

 

 

 

200k gets you around 100 dbones (25.2k exp) / 500 bigbones (assuming you're f2p p.s not worth it)

You should get at least lvl 43 prayer. Mainly for the "protect from.." prayers. Those are extremely handy in both f2p and p2p.

O wow, I didn't think prayer was really worth it after 43, but after reading your posts, I've seen how important it can be.

after 70, it is MOSTLY just for looks. you are able to protect yourself for longer and pray pot doses give you more points, but it is too expensive to be practically worth it.

Yes but not up to level 70, for f2p you really only need up to 43 for protection prayers. If your a member it really depends what you do, if you are a boss killer then it is necessary but otherwise you dont need that high especially with potions.

 

 

 

You shouldn't buy bones for f2p until you are trying to get that last bit of xp to a level or you are doing fog continually and have no prayer gain. I have no idea about members on buying bones.

I spent 111m on 99 and haven't regretted it. Mostly because I'm going for max combat level, but still it is worth it.

Once you hit 70+, it's really a pain to buy levels. I don't think that it's worth it to buy anything past 70.

 

 

 

It really depends what you're into. 70 will last a while if you're doing some things, but 70 is pretty short if you're doing any form of monster hunting. I use to do DKs with 64 prayer and not only are trips shorter but I've had some VERY dangerous moments where I ran out of prayer. Eventually I got 85 and it helps a lot (and trips are MUCH longer), however, it could be even better, 99 pray is VERY useful in monster hunting and VERY worth getting.

Prayer is definitely worth the cash spent to level it. With piety, protection prayers, and retribution and redemption, you'll gain a huge adventage in pking, training, and other forms of combat. As for you training prayer, I recommend you first get the skills needed to utilize prayer properly before leveling it. I cant see a level 10 fighting black demons with protect from melee on. :lol:

 

 

 

Just for fun, 200k'll get you 50k xp which'll get you to somewhere in the 40's. You'll need a few hundred more k to get the protection prayers.
