Sarah Palin's Email Hacked. McCain camp to investigate.

Featured Replies

People are comparing her insecure email address with her ability to be a VP.

I'm not saying I like her, because I don't (you don't say how your daughter is going to have a child whether she likes it or not at the GOP National Convention), but it's ridiculous to compare the two.

You can hack emails, you can't hack intelligence. Though she doesn't have much in the foreign section.

EDIT: Gah, how did I get that into there? I need to pay attention more. :o

and get McCain to use yahoo since Obama frequently says in his commercials that he can't even use a computer.

Have bamboo chutes jammed into your fingernails and your fingers broken repeatedly for years and see how well you can type. He understands how a computer works, he just can't physically use a computer. As in his hands can not type. He can't use a typewriter for that same reason.

Am I missing something? What does bamboo chutes and fingers broken have to do with McCain?

Those would be the gifts that the North Vietnamese gave him when he was a guest at the Hanoi Hilton. People are quick to say "McCain can't use a computer." And they are right, because torture has caused him to be unable to use his hands to type or manipulate a mouse. He has email, he just has someone to retrieve and print it for him to read. And likewise he has to dictate replies back.

I still fail to see that as a good reason to vote for him as president.

I mean, sure, it gives him some experience, but other than that I don't see how him being tortured would make him a good president.

Sorry, had to vent there.

On June 16, I spoke at length with Mark Salter on the subject of McCain and the computer. He said McCain had a PC on his desk and often borrowed the BlackBerrys of others and was working at getting better on the computer. The point he was making was that McCain misspoke when he said he was "computer illiterate" in January in an interview with YahooNews. At no time did Salter say that McCain's war wounds, which mostly prevent him from lifting his arms above his head, had any connection to his slowness at adapting to the computer. You can be sure that if this were a factor, Salter would have mentioned it.

When McCain returned from Vietnam, his service in the Navy required him to type reports. There is nothing in any of the medical records released by the McCain campaign that suggests in any way that McCain had trouble typing.

And as amused as I am about her email being hacked, it'll probably do more harm than good.

She was believed to have been using that Yahoo account to shield communications from subpoenas as official public records, and now that email account's been shut down.

Internal documents obtained by reporters allegedly show Palin staffers discussing the possibility of using unofficial channels, such as personal e-mail accounts, as a means of evading subpoenas and requests under the state's open records law targeting her official account.

[hide=some of the email info]An index of the e-mails in her inbox, which includes sender, subject line and date sent, indicates that Palin received numerous e-mails from her aides in the governor's office, some of which could be work-related.

An e-mail from her press secretary, Meghan Stapleton, indicates the message is about the "Motor Fuel Tax Suspension".

The subject line of an e-mail from Randall Ruaro, her deputy chief of staff reads, "Draft letter to Governor Schwarzenegger." Another one from Ruaro says, "Please approve" and another one is about "Court of Appeals Nominations."

Other e-mails from Ruaro indicate they're about employee and budget issues for the DPS. DPS is how Alaska refers to its Department of Public Safety.

Palin's chief of staff, Michael Nizich, sent her an e-mail August 22 with the subject line, "Using Royalty Oil to Lower the Cost of Fuel for Alaskans." The subject line of another e-mail from Nizich reads "CONFIDENTIAL Ethics Matter."[/hide]

Ugh, long post deleted.

Well there, he is getting better at computers.

So much crap getting thrown around that I think that many of us have been getting taken in by something or another.

^^That's true.

I won't lie, I admire McCain for his toughness and ability to never give in to the North Vietnamese soldiers, they gave him so much crap. But I still don't see it as one reason to vote for him.

^^ It's not a reason to vote for him alone. But it's pretty stupid when people say he's not qualified to be President because he was a POW. I think it shows something about his character.

He can use a computer for a very short period of time. He avoids typing because he can't do it for very long. For someone to suggest that he doesn't understand the internet is wrong. In 2000 he only won New Hampshire because of his website.

McCain's severe war injuries prevent him from combing his hair, typing on a keyboard, or tying his shoes

http://graphics.boston.com/news/politic ... ult+.shtml

His nightly ritual is to read his email together with his wife, Cindy. The injuries he incurred as a Vietnam POW make it painful for McCain to type. Instead, he dictates responses that his wife types on a laptop. "She's a whiz on the keyboard, and I'm so laborious," McCain admits.

Why would anyone who uses an email for something this important be using Yahoo?

My mom uses hotmail. These are not government emails, persay. These are informal messages from family, friends, and coworkers.

Her public email address is just that. Someone with no life went out of their way to guess the password which like most Americans was very easy. My personal emails are obscenely easy. My professional email password is incredibly difficult.

There have been numerous reports of her forwarding/cc/bcc her husband onto many emails relating to official Alaska business.

So, um, that's wrong lol. She was conducting government business with this email, giving her husband information that he shouldn't have access to, and I find that extremely disturbing. It's not like Americans will care though.

i heard it wasn't a matter of guessing the password, but researching the answers to her recovery questions, such as zip code and where she met her husband, and one other one i forget. goes to show, don't have simple recovery questions.

I understand what you mean, but even if wasn't a POW he still is an old man. My joke does come off as a bit harsh.

You do realize Obama is pushing close to 50, right?

Even though I'm a Repub, and this was illegal, I just had to lol irl tbh.

Also, don't use CNN as a site for stuff like that, cuz they are obvsly anti-repub, use maybe Drudge.

You do realize Obama is pushing close to 50, right?

50 of course being five years below the average age of previous Presidents, and 72 being 17 years above the average.

Obama would be the fifth youngest President, while McCain would be the oldest by ~2 years.

Show of hands, who else didn't know? I swear to god all these pre teens shouing Obama I bet never watched the conventions, and won't watch the debates.

And if anything, that would mean to vote McCain, he has way more experience. And I laugh when I see all you guys yelling for Obama, when you don't know any of his policies. Like those who are gonna vote for him to lower gas prices. Nice, that's Palin's goal, if McCain becomes president, gas will fall.

I mean, it's perfectly fine if you vote Obama, because that's your choice. Just know what he stands for first.

Well, all I'm saying is age shouldn't matter. McCain isn't a wheezing, blood-coughing old man. Obama isn't in diapers.

Alaska won't lower prices.

Edit: Really the only thing, IMO, that will lower the prices is the gov't stepping in and stopping the gouging. Gasoline is being traded at about $2.50/gal, there's absolutely no reason for stations to be charging $4.00 or more.

Well, seeing that nearly all presidents have been re-elected for a second term, I think age does matter. A lot can happen in 8 years, and I don't feel like having our president die and have our VP come into power when the biggest seat that she had before was the governor of Alaska.

And they are right, because torture has caused him to be unable to use his hands to type or manipulate a mouse. He has email, he just has someone to retrieve and print it for him to read. And likewise he has to dictate replies back.

I wonder if he has tried adapted devices? Nimble fingers should not make him completely incapable of using a computer. There are many less able-bodied individuals who have overcome such challenges, and who are able to use computers without assistance.

I feel bad for this, but in response to the bold, I quote you from this thread (viewtopic.php?f=10&t=758472&start=180):

And uhhh what about George Washing? He did a kick [wagon] job as President, and he had no experience, He was a kick [wagon] general in the army, and he had never been one before. Do you really need experience if you know how to do the job perfectly? I mean, yes experience is useful, but should not be a deciding factor. Which is why I don't bring up Obama's little experience.

With Palin in the picture, I would think it wise for both sides to drop the whole "experience" thing. It's a waste of time and tells the public nothing about what the candidates' policies are.

As another guy above me said, gas prices are not going down without the government subsidizing it. We (the world) a good supply of oil left. The real problem is demand. A lot of countries are using oil now (China) and are pushing the price up. Our best method is to move to another energy source.

I was talking about Palin versus Obama lol.

And yes, drilling Alaska will cause prices to go down, because oil prices have never been about how much oil is, it's always about the companies speculating whether or not it will go up, so they do a preemptive strike and raise it. So, if Palin does drill Alaska, even if we don't get that oil for years, prices will still fall because people know new oil is coming.

You obviously have no comprehensive knowledge of how gas prices work. Most of the time, gas prices are fluxuated by the ability to refine oil into gasoline. It also has to do with the ability to trasport the oil. It has little to nothing to do with speculation. The reason gas prices went up the last couple of weeks is because hurricane Ike closed down a ton of oil refineries along the Gulf of Mexico.

Uhhh. No. Without evidence to back up such claims I refuse to believe such nonsense. You have shown you do not understand that which you claim to have a superior knowledge about.
