September 29, 200817 yr Signatures made so far \ I keep adding more signatures as i make them. Version 1 of banner
September 29, 200817 yr You have the basic elements of signature design- a background, a render and some text. What you need to do now is refine them into something more advanced. Your colour pallete (the colours you have used in the picture) are a bit off. They clash too much. You need to use colours that compliment each other. As a general rule, use colours that can be made from the others. For example, if you have orange, you can also use red and yellow and it will work nicely. Similarly, blues and greens work very well together.
September 29, 200817 yr Author Lemme guess, the yellow is like "BOOM" or a explosion? I used yellow cause it would make the TEXT very noticeable. But i am guessing that having a colour that matches with background has calmer effect?
September 29, 200817 yr That certainly isnt bad for a first. You need to blend, feather your lasso tool, select around graador and press ctrl x danke Schon Sam!^^"Blood runs thicker, oh were thick as thieves you know"-Carl Barât
September 29, 200817 yr Author Here's with a difference colour on text. You have the basic elements of signature design- a background, a render and some text. September 29, 200817 yr I'd say make graardor a bit brighter. danke Schon Sam!^^"Blood runs thicker, oh were thick as thieves you know"-Carl Barât
September 29, 200817 yr Author I already saved the signature, so it's not in different layers. I merged them all together at the end (I shouldn't have done that right?). So i don't know how to bright up Graardor without doing rest. Any help there ?
September 29, 200817 yr Lasso around graardor. Then brighten it. danke Schon Sam!^^"Blood runs thicker, oh were thick as thieves you know"-Carl Barât
September 29, 200817 yr Feather it. :D danke Schon Sam!^^"Blood runs thicker, oh were thick as thieves you know"-Carl Barât
September 29, 200817 yr Author Lasso>Feather right? I will try to do that (while i wait for your answer). And yeah i know that brightness looks like a plastic bag over Graardors head  But i never used Lasso before so didn't know how to deal with that ;) EDIT: All done. Man i did tons of adjustments+ i had to repost links to new signatures to 3 forums!
September 29, 200817 yr yaya. danke Schon Sam!^^"Blood runs thicker, oh were thick as thieves you know"-Carl Barât
September 29, 200817 yr It's not bad for a first. To add to what the other have already said, try to establish some kind of flow in your signatures. This basically means that it looks like the elements in a signature seem to be going or 'flying' in a certain direction. This can be hard to get right at first, but it will make your work look a lot more interesting. You can create flow by using for example effect C4Ds, clipping masks, etc. There are many tutorials on effects like these, so do a little search and most importantly, just keep practising and try out different things. Also, if you're just starting out brushing entire backgrounds is fine, but as you get more experienced you might want to try out different techniques. One of them is placing a non-resized version of the render in the background and smudging it/applying other effects. That can work pretty well, but again, just experiment. pixel avvy by me deviantART
September 29, 200817 yr Wow! That is a huge improvement from last time! ( ) Good job 'Hemen! Your getting there! P.S. Here is just a little tip. When you save your images, save them once as .PNG, or whatever you saved it as (Flattens the image), and then save it again as another format that does not make it flattened. This way, you can fix anything later if you have to. My relaxation method involves a bottle of lotion, beautiful women, and partial nudity. Yes I get massages.
September 29, 200817 yr What Ouchy said, save one as .xcf (GIMP's file) and one as .png or .jpg. Can I get that font? Plz? Whatcha said there jop, was controversial. Clippings are for blending. I've never seen them used for flow. I gave up on smudging, so all my effects are flame fractal based. danke Schon Sam!^^"Blood runs thicker, oh were thick as thieves you know"-Carl Barât

Gimp is nice if you know it \ What Ouchy said, save one as .xcf (GIMP's file) and one as .png or .jpg. Can I get that font? Plz? September 29, 200817 yr Never ever ever merge all your layers. If you really need to, create a copy of the gimp file and merge that, so you always have a backup version with the layers. The most important thing you need to learn about graphic design is to be non-destructive. This means preserving the original images as much as you can. For example, in Photoshop, if I wanted to delete a section of an image I wouldn't just use the eraser tool, that is permanant once the history state has been overwritten. Instead I would use a layer mask, because that can be edited later on, and the original image is still perfectly intact should I want to do something else to it. I don't know if the gimp uses layer masks or the equivalent, but this is a very good practise, so try to guide your designs around it. It will help you in the long run.
September 30, 200817 yr Author Don't worry. In my folder "Digital Art": i have a PNG copy+GIMP Format of last 3 signatures i made (made 2 new). I just did the mistake on first one. Anyhow here's the 2 new signatures: not to great but it's just to practice i guess. Please rate from 1-10+comments :!: The first one i used something called C4D (A pattern of 3d things i guess): but i guessing that it's just a pattern to make it look cool. I used a guide but the poster of guide: had some things that was unclear so i just went on my own halfway through. The 2nd one i like alot :) Also made a banner :ohnoes:
October 1, 200817 yr It looks better. A 'c4d' is a 3d abstract shape made in a program called Cinema4D (c4d for chort). They are good for backgrounds. The first two have a good colour scheme, and a nice little border round the egde. Good job. About the banner: the render to start with is bad quality, you can see it's blurry with not much detail I don't know if you did resize it or whatever, but it's never a good idea to take a small image and make it bigger. Always go from big to small. Also the stroke around the render- it's only 1 pixel wide so you can see the jaggedness of it. Work on blending in the render with the background. Blur the egdes slightly and make a layer on top of the render and brush in some stuff, then lower the opacity and other stuff. (being quite general here since I don't know how gimp works).
October 1, 200817 yr Author Yeah i know about the render. And i went from big to small, and i know that that i should not go from small to big. As for the renders bad edge: i asked on GIMPTalk about it but have not gotten answers yet but i will try to fix it through your instructions. Thanks dude ;) P.s: At banner do you think the Main text is a bit bad? I mean the letter is pointing to right (i find that bad for Maintext). What do you think? EDIT: I used blur to make sure the render blended with background+made something using blur to show the light+dark colours appear more. Here's 2 new versions of banner
October 1, 200817 yr Your new sigs are ok. Using the same render for two siggys isn't very original tbh. And for your banner, there isn't much of a difference. It just looks like all you did was add a filter or two.
October 1, 200817 yr Author The two signatures using same render was just 2 signatures i made: first one was kinda bad so i made another for my friend. But yea i know what you mean and as for the banner: i don't have no idea how to fix the wings (in banner version 1) :? I am using GIMP and Pyro dosen't know so i am waiting for someone who might+ comments :D
