October 1, 200817 yr I think its stupid. Everytag that someone posts on nsl or PR, when they're new, is instantly low novice. Sigs are shot down by who they are made by and vice verca. Whaddya think of it? danke Schon Sam!^^"Blood runs thicker, oh were thick as thieves you know"-Carl Barât
October 1, 200817 yr Classing is silly. The whole signature-scene isn't really worth much to be brutally honest. Yes it's fun to start out with, but come on, they're only signatures.
October 1, 200817 yr I think it can help to give the person that is getting classed a general overview of the skill level people think they have, but I do agree that a lot of classing seems to be based just on the person posting the art rather than the art itself, which kind of defeats the purpose of it. But then again, all comments/ratings/classing are opinions, and whether you like it or not, people will always be biased, sometimes not even on purpose. pixel avvy by me deviantART
October 1, 200817 yr It's kind of like rating. People give eachother 'classes' (novice, moderate, intermediate, semi-pro and pro) depending on what level they think the art is of. pixel avvy by me deviantART
October 1, 200817 yr I think it is silly. It automatically makes some one better, or worse, for how long they have been there. I'm a novice on PR :P
October 1, 200817 yr Author I think most of tif is novice. Soa is novice apparantly. Soa is pro though. danke Schon Sam!^^"Blood runs thicker, oh were thick as thieves you know"-Carl Barât
October 1, 200817 yr What DH said. There's no point in classing. For it to be accurate, it would have to be the same people who classes everyone. But that's not whats happening. Even worse, people tend to give higher classing to guys who have been around for a while. October 1, 200817 yr I don't even think I own an account there, what does that make me? Novice, *looks at signature space* You dont even have a signature. [http://woopidoo2.deviantart.com][Tip.it Moderator from Dec 10, 2006 to 03 Sep, 2008]
October 2, 200817 yr I don't even think I own an account there, what does that make me? An uber nub. I haven't been bothered to post anything there myself, first I haven't been bothered to make anything (Doing web design/php lately, no moar gfx) and seconf the fact that they use IPB puts me off. Sorry Guthix.
October 2, 200817 yr Depends on the people you're being classed by, and the forum. On NSL, rating is over-rated ( \ ), I've seen the judges rate tags pro that are just messy and no form, like Kamangir's early tags. And on another forum, one made by Stoneface, can't remember the url, but the classing there is really tight. You have to be PRO PROFESSIONAL, ABOVE PRO to be rated pro. Ex: Thru said I was pro, not sure if he was joking or not, but I consider myself novice on a "world-wide" scale. On tif, I would conisder myself maybe mid-inter. :ohnoes:
October 2, 200817 yr lol good times, eons ago I used to visit some of those site and tbh anyone on the sites mentioned rates stuff like it's actually art, I mean come on its a signature. Could you imagine a graphics designer having something as stupid as a "pro" on nsl on his CV. Click for blog
October 2, 200817 yr It's a useless ego boost that has no real standing on your ability as an artist. Sigs are more or less a waste of time if your intention is to improve your graphic art skills.
October 2, 200817 yr Venomai stole the words from the mouth. Hobo. I think classing is stupid, and to me it's just a load of biased crap - people who are on the site longer get better rated. Anyway, graphic design as a job isn't sigs or LP's or any of that jibba jabba; it's things like web design & advertising. 2257AD.TUMBLR.COM
