Da Pirates
It's on my NCAA Football 08 disc. I don't want to have to buy another one, but that is what it is looking like. It's a DEEP circular scratch along the disc. THINGS I'VE TRIED: -Water -$6 "scratch remover" from Blockbuster -Windex -Carpet Cleaner -Bleach Nothing has worked, what should I use? BR BR BR? Lenticular_J
Blockbuster. EDIT: I meant Blockbusters often have good tips and pro fixing supplies, replacing it with a Blockbuster copy would be, like, desperation. catch it now so you can like it before it went so mainstream
pryomancer
If it's deep then you're probably going to have to buy a new disk.
Bluejayfan94
Any Games store should be able to buff it out... Unless its deep. HomerSPC's Lets Plays : : Minecraft, Portal, Halo and more!
runescapeloser22
Toothpaste Google it, seriously.
Star_Fox
if the scratch was from touching the disk or putting it in the console for too long then it shouldn't be too critical with how the game functions. however, if you can feel the scratch or if the disk makes weird sounds when it spins, you will need a new copy. rushrock
Windex? Carpet cleaner? Bleach? Are you sure those won't damage the disk? I'm not an expert on this subject, though. I've heard that a few places have a disk buffing service. You can also buy specialized cleaning fluids.
Da Pirates
Windex? Carpet cleaner? Bleach? Are you sure those won't damage the disk? I don't know, but I was pissed about nothing happening so I pulled out the badass stuff. Next is Drain-O, wish me luck! BR BR BR? runescapeloser22
Toothpaste Google it, seriously. The Toothpaste Method - OK. First off, you can use any normal brand of toothpaste, but the baking soda kind works best. NEVER use the gel kind. Now what you do is, you put a small glob on the disk, and wipe it in with a soft towel, making sure you at least cover the scratched area. Then, when you are satisfied with the coverage, rinse it off softly in running water, and then dry it with the same towel, making sure not to rub the disk hard enough to take the toothpaste out of the scratch. The Toothpaste will dry, giving the laser in your PS2 or XBox 360 something to reflect off of, thus fixing the damage. This is a temporary fix, from what I've heard, but it DOES work. Just make sure the disk doesn't get wet again, and you'll be fine.
aquariusman
That method is complete b.s. It says that the toothpaste is something for the laser to reflect off of? That's actually what the shiny part behind the plastic is for. The data, I think is either stored in a separate layer of the plastic, closer to the reflective backing, or on the reflective backing. "Letting the toothpaste dry" will only make the damage worse by not letting any light pass through the scratch. Also, since toothpaste is a minor abrasive, the scratch might just become bigger and deeper. What you need to do is use a real abrasive to take away a thing layer of the bottom (The plastic/glass), so that you essentially get rid of the scratch. Unless you've used this method and it works. I have no experience for repairing scratched discs, I'm going by what I see as logical. Dried toothpaste, as far as I know, is not transparent. Also, if this is a 360 disc, try the Xbox 360 Disc Replacement Program There's no such thing as regret. A regret means you are unhappy with the person you are now,and if you're unhappy with the person you are, you change yourself. Thatregret will no longer be a regret, because it will help to form the new, better you. So really, a regret isn't a regret. It's experience. Yes_Its_Ross
-Windex -Carpet Cleaner -Bleach From these it's probably ruined by now. I would reccomend going to a store that sells videogames and asking what they suggest. Don't beleive any random myths. Especially toothpaste. #-o ]

Lots of people have posted on that scorehero sticky saying it worked. and it was posted by BriGuy, if you visit ScoreHero he is basically their version of Nadril. RichieMcD
You've probably ruined your game now with using the likes of Bleach, Windex and Carpt cleaners, I'm pretty sure all 3 of those often act as either abrasives or corrosives, what the hell did you think would make them do any good to the disc lol? Returned3
Do the toothpaste method. The toothpaste actually creates a whole new layer of the disc and enables the disc to spin as per normal (Scractches affect the spinning rate). Most of the time you can't play the game isnt because of some memory loss or some stuff like that, its more because of a rotation malfunction. 00:00:0500:00:0400:00:0300:00:0200:00:0100:00:00 Break the Walls down!
