Estonian dude
The GIMP developers are proud to release GIMP 2.6.0 today. Please have a look at the Release Notes to find out what's new in GIMP 2.6. The source can be downloaded from ftp.gimp.org. Binary packages for the various supported platforms should become available soon; please check the Downloads section. Update: There was a minor glitch in the original 2.6.0 tarball. A new tarball has been uploaded that fixes this issue. Your thoughts? So I've noticed this thread's regulars all follow similar trends. pryomancer
My God that's an improvement from the old version: I remember when I downloaded GIMP once, I actually felt patronized by the large buttons.

tryto
Loads a lot faster now, and the improvement in windows management is very nice. Seems to be using less memory as well. Estonian dude
AWSUM FLAME FRACTAL STUFF. Loads a lot faster now, and the improvement in windows management is very nice. Seems to be using less memory as well. Yeah, it really is much faster. Almost no lag for me, which is incredible. And the new flame fractals are WTFpwnage! AndyPandy
Ooo, haven't tried the flame fractals yet, but has anyone else used the Create... function yet? Seems like it's an easier to use compilation of a lot of the script fu options. It's awesome. So don't let anyone tell you you're not worth the earth, These streets are your streets, this turf is your turf, Don't let anyone tell you that you've got to give in, Cos you can make a difference, you can change everything, Just let your dreams be your pilot, your imagination your fuel, Tear up the book and write your own damn rules, Use all that heart, hope and soul that you've got, And the love and the rage that you feel in your gut, And realise that the other world that you're always looking for, Lies right here in front of us, just outside this door, And it's up to you to go out there and paint the canvas, After all, you were put on the earth to do this, So shine your light so bright that all can see, Take pride in being whoever the [bleep] you want to be. dsavi
Yeah, I knew about the fractals, I just didn't know there where new fractal types. Nothing to exciting to be honest. I was talking to a Gimp developer on Wikipedia, some here might be interested: All the new stuff goes into the unstable versions -- which will next start with 2.7.1 in a week or so.They're starting pretty early it seems, could be that they release 2.8 even in June or July next year it sounds like. Laxaria
You forgot that 2.6.1 is already out. Anyways, its a massive improvement over the last stable and looks like the strongest competitor to Photoshop. \/ made with GIMP.
