Ibis, very useful in fishing and forages swordies

Macaw

Karamthulu Overlord is the first good combat familiar, although the Spirit Cats are also good, and I myself prefer them.

Spirit Cobra, to get rid of eggs and to make some easy money

Stranger Plant has an awesome farming bonus, but it's not higher than the Garden Pie until really high levels. However, Garden pie is hard to buy.

War Tortise, and a decent guy in combat also

Bunyip

Fruit Bat

Rav Locust is very good in PvP, since it can eat your opponent's food

Obby Golem is essentially a titan, a bit weaker, but strong

Granite Lobster, for fishing

And the rest is high level stuff.

I knew about the epic Karam Ov. but not about half the others there :o

I got no need for bunyip atm i dont do hardcore slayer and cobra for the cockatrice variant eggs?

(btw i have 5 garden pies ^_^)

I dont need a siggy no moar.

Bunyip is useful where ever. When just regularly training you could probably last the entirety of the Bunyip's timer without food, unless you're at like boss monsters or something. And the Fruit Bat essentially provides unlimited food, but only works outside, apparently.

Cobra is for the eggs.

On that note, Cockatrice variants have pretty good specials for PvP.

Eh, eggs sucks. The fruit bat is a HUGE hassle. The good familiars are: Void spinner, Bunyip, Fruit bat, War tortoise, and combat familiars start getting somewhat decent at 79.

Kent you should add in your guide bloated leech is semi decent ;)

And btw bunyip fails for me. no use wasting like 2m gettin 68 if you can just get void spinner. Does half as good at half the level.

I dont need a siggy no moar.

Bloated leech is just too low to be worth it, in my opinon. However, if you want to it's obvious that the higher the level, (generally) the better it is. Shouldn't affect it much due to the low levels of the familiars.

And Void spinner is good, but why not train a skill that practically comes at 800k+xp/hour and for a decent price? (75m for 99, and you don't lose any time if you Slay) There are many benefits to the skill.

800k per hour plus the 24 hours used getting enough charms for 800k xp. :|

Kent seriously though if you have aguide you sorta have to tell people whats good for lower levels too

I dont need a siggy no moar.

They are not good though.

You're better off with a Bunyip/Terrorbird for the vast majority of everything training wise.

Combat familiars are only going to come into there own in PvP. In training by the time the familiar gets a hit in you've already killed the monster and you've sacrificed extra space / healing.

Me = Level 96.8. :| Though I can use terrorbird I thought it failed in combat.

And for low levels with 43 summoning a cockatrice is freaking good.

I dont need a siggy no moar.

Terrorbirds do fail in combat but they hold 12 extra food/pots/loot making them invaluable to slayers and campers.

Without Terrorbirds I would struggle to pick up all runes during a Spiritual Mage trip but I can put 12 prayer pots in one and collect all the loot, replacing pots from the bird as I go. I need more than 1 pouch for this obviously but it saves throwing stuff away.

I dont particularly like slaying or camping ;)

When I slay I dont care about banking time, so I just go bank. Simple. I havent really grasped the awesomeness of camping places yet, which is the reason I didnt buy guthans when I could've.

I dont need a siggy no moar.

there is a huge difference between the two, trust me I just got 68 and a spinner doesnt really even compare to a bunyip

If it doesnt compare to bunyip why is

Spinner: 1hp /15 sec

Bunyip: 2hp /15 sec

? :P

i think bunyips last longer than spinners are cheaper and the bunyips swallow whole scroll is invaluable when going to water fiends or other monsters that drop lots of raw food

Me behave? Seriously? As a child I saw Tarzan almost naked, Cinderella arrived home from a party after midnight, Pinocchio told lies, Aladin was a thief, Batman drove over 200 miles an hour, Snow White lived in a house with seven men, Popeye smoked a pipe and had tattoos, Pac man ran around to digital music while eating pills that enhanced his performance, and Shaggy and Scooby were mystery solving hippies who always had the munchies. The fault is not mine! if you had this childhood and loved it put this in your signature!

Use of grammar pleases

I dont need bunyip yet anyway

You will, trust me.

Also, if you're going to use a low level combat, (at least for slayer) you're better off using, as cat said, a Terrorbird. They can hold 12 loot, which means more money, Piety, or a good inventory that's not cramped.

and like Kent said you will need a Bunyip eventually.

I guess it's like Sky+. You don't think you need it, but once you have it, you couldn't imagine ever living without it.

Think of the time you save without having to bank in the middle of a task. That's time you could use getting more XP, more drops and more money. Plus with Guthans/Bunyip your need for food diminishes to practically nothing saving you costs in the long run. At 1.7k a Bunyip will heal you 352 health. 352 health in terms of lobsters is 29.3 lobster, meaning the same amount of healing in lobster form is 7.2k. 5.5k more expensive and you need to find inventory slots for them!

So basically the Bunyip is carrying 29 lobsters for you, feeding them to you and also saving you space for loot.

This saving in time/cost more than pays for the meagre upkeep of Guthans ever 16 hours before you even start adding on loot.

Summoning was useless to me until I could use Bull Ants/Terrorbirds (Agility), Ibis (Fishing), Karmathulu Overlord (Some slayer tasks, TzHaars), and smoke devils.

Summoning would be useful whenever you found a familiar that assisted in a skill you enjoy.

(BTW I'm still shy some lvls for bunyip T__T)
