New Mouse

Recommended Posts

Hi all, well, I think its time for a new mouse as my current el cheapo OEM Logitech RX300 doesnt cut it any more mainly because I want some extra keys on my mouse for extra key binds and the like. Also I find the sound it makes is too loud for my taste especially the middle mouse button.

Looking for a gaming mouse <$100 NZD so here are my options

Razer Diamondback 3G

Razer Deathadder

Logitech G5

Logitech MX518

And other suggestions welcome.

Don't live in N. America so can't use New Egg or any other N.A. stores as shipping could be at a price.

I have the Deathadder. Good all round mouse, can't say there's anything wrong with it apart from the MOUSE1 and MOUSE2 (right and left click) make quite a noticble *click* noise when pressed.

I own a G5 rv2 and love it.

The adjustable weights let you customise the mouse and the dpi changer helps with some games.

Well, all of your suggestions are pretty good. Personally I'd get the MX518, but that's just me. It fits my hand just fine so that's my reason for picking it. You should try them somewhere to see what fits yours best.

The MX518 serves my purposes nicely. 8 buttons to screw around with, although I'd leave the 2 dpi-switch buttons alone. It's perfect at 400DPI for CSS, and knock it up for stuff like Unreal Tournament.

I was going to eat hot dogs for dinner tonight. I think I will settle for cereal.

I've heard some good reviews for the MX518 and it is pretty cheap but I'm not a great fan of the colour scheme and the colour of the V1 G5.

Currently have my eyes set on the 2007 G5

This is true. It's an excellent mouse. (though I can't play on any other mouse now because the G5 has those little weights that come with it, and mine is really heavy compared to a normal mouse :P )

I've got a Saitek GM3200 (laser). Works great and only cost me 30 euros. It also has 5 remove-able weights, dpi settings.. etc. Unfortuantly, i think they've stopped selling it (bought mine in february this year).

Before spending the money, i'd try getting hold of some measures of the mouse, so it's not too small or too high etc for your hand.

  • 3 weeks later...

I have a 5 dollar mouse. I might want to consider getting a decent mouse :? Those mice all got good reviews, and I hope you enjoy your purchase.

Thoroughly retired, may still write now and again
