Lenticular_J
[hide=Trailer.] [/hide] Wikipedia. Led by creative director Michael Plater, from Rome: Total War. This looks like it'll redefine strategy for the new generation. Has HUGE ideas for multiplayer. As in hundreds of players fighting wars lasting months. It comes out relatively soon: November 4th. Very good-looking graphics as well. Is anyone planning on getting it? I've told my parents it's one thing I particularly want for Christmas. This is the game I look forward to most, after Fable 2. And it's coming with some serious names and developers to back it up. I think this could be the real deal. Soon after this, we'll have my dream - strategy games like this where you can be the soldier, commander, or both seamlessly. Some have said this is basically an interactive movie - but you could also call Metal Gear Solid 4 the same - and it has sold millions of copies and gotten great reviews. This looks like it'll rawk my sawk. Singular. EDIT: Oh, and you can use your voice to play the game. They've developed it enough that parrots have been taught to play the game relatively well. catch it now so you can like it before it went so mainstream
Dizzle229
This game looks godly, and it will be amazing to see this on my shelf next to Halo Wars. Get back here so I can rub your butt.

aquariusman
As in hundreds of players fighting wars lasting months. That is so epic. I can't wait for it. That is awesome, I just want some proof for that, the video would have mentioned it if it existed, but it only mentioned up to 12. There's no such thing as regret. A regret means you are unhappy with the person you are now,and if you're unhappy with the person you are, you change yourself. Thatregret will no longer be a regret, because it will help to form the new, better you. So really, a regret isn't a regret. It's experience. ThurinEthir
This only looks really amazing. However, Lord of the Rings: Conquest will top it for me. I'll most likely get it eventually though. That is awesome, I just want some proof for that, the video would have mentioned it if it existed, but it only mentioned up to 12. I read it somewhere either on the website or the ranking I saw of the ten most wanted games for the fall (where I found out about this). I'll try to find a link. I believe the video only says the battles themselves had up to twelve players. Whole wars can carry many many many. catch it now so you can like it before it went so mainstream
AndyPandy
This game will be awesome. This looks like it'll redefine strategy for the new generation. Has HUGE ideas for multiplayer. As in hundreds of players fighting wars lasting months. Have a look at M.A.G for a true multiplayer war. 256 player in the game at one time, all fighting. 128 per team. Imagine that. 20 people up in the hills providing sniper fire, 20 on mortars and the rest on foot or in tanks. Now THAT will be epic. So don't let anyone tell you you're not worth the earth, These streets are your streets, this turf is your turf, Don't let anyone tell you that you've got to give in, Cos you can make a difference, you can change everything, Just let your dreams be your pilot, your imagination your fuel, Tear up the book and write your own damn rules, Use all that heart, hope and soul that you've got, And the love and the rage that you feel in your gut, And realise that the other world that you're always looking for, Lies right here in front of us, just outside this door, And it's up to you to go out there and paint the canvas, After all, you were put on the earth to do this, So shine your light so bright that all can see, Take pride in being whoever the [bleep] you want to be. Lenticular_J
You know, that's true. If those two could be combined. Oh [cabbage]. Anyways, if we could do that, as well as make the battles and choices able to be viewed like that pre-rendered trailer movie... That would be my ultimate game. catch it now so you can like it before it went so mainstream
ThurinEthir
...I'm still assuming that none of you have read Epic (Connor Kostick), but the game in that would be THE ultimate game. It's basically what's being done here...Literally making a virtual world where you're totally immersed in the gameplay. Or something. Who knows, maybe in a few hundred years, world wars will be fought virtually, through video "games". :? Anyway, I've decided that I really want this...Perhaps my birthday/Christmas next year, or if I somehow dig up enough money... Lenticular_J
Just finished downloading it (quite a long download), and it certainly seems worth buying. I love the voice commands. It'll probably take a really long time to get good, but the sheer size of the battles is awesome - and that's only with me (nine units, five of 'em gunships) versus a normal computer that probably had four units in all. You can hear the enemy scream when they see a fleet of helicopters running towards them. [hide=Wall'o'war.]My most recent battle: Started off slow. I don't get the point of the command center. But oh well. Started taking over the nearest base, deployed another gunship unit, and some riflemen. Sent some gunships to scout out base Sierra. Turns out, Whiskey, which is hardly an artillery shot away, was being fortified by the Europeans. I sent all my troops, and deployed more gunships - which I forgot about until later. With my one gunship unit, I assaulted the two tank units and one gang of riflemen. I demolished one tank group, and started to kill the other one (the riflemen had retreated long beforehand), when the Europeans used supply helicopters to heal the tanks - and helped the tanks out by sending a unit of transports (those who don't play - gunship killers). I thought they were more tanks, so I sent my gunships back in. Bad move. Two of my choppers were torn apart instantly. I sent the rest just out of range, both of them trailing smoke and spark. All my other units had reached Sierra by this time. I saw a unit of riflemen rushing towards Yankee, which would allow them to successfully flank me. Remembering my gunships, I send a fleet of the choppers at 'em. Unable to reach Yankee, the troops made a fallback towards an abandoned building. Only lost two or three in the run. However, a couple dozen riflemen, even in a building, are nothing for 20-odd gunships. I lost two of the copters in the fighting, but I had another front to worry about - the Europeans launched their largest attack yet. By the time their artillery had gotten close enough to shoot (foolishly, alone), my choppers had mopped up the riflemen, who the enemy commander had tried to make retreat through a forest. The artillery got one or two of my engineers, but I wasn't too worried. Then, two units of gunships, two tanks, a unit of riflemen, and a unit of transports attacked (turns out, this was a last-ditch effort to beat me). Pretty massive battle, even though my own artillery wiped out all but one of the transports. The tanks could have caused more damage, but I'd had my engineers lay minefields a few minutes ago. Lucky me. With an addition of a unit of transports to wipe out the choppers, soon the few remaining units started to retreat. Unfortunately, the riflemen took cover behind tanks whilst gunships hovered above. Bye-bye gunships and tanks, bye-bye riflemen. Soon support choppers were flying everywhere; I don't know why. I shot down one or two while my gunships followed their one surviving counterpart. Awesome.[/hide] catch it now so you can like it before it went so mainstream

Lenticular_J
Hehe, thanks :P This could give me ideas for my writing, apparently. I just had another battle, and even though a lot less happened, I guess I could write it up : [hide=Another Wall'o'war.]I decided to be the Europeans this time. They suck. Started off really slow - I accidentally started with a unit of engineers, one of riflemen, and one of gunships. I sent for some more gunships, upgraded my base for air strikes, and got some transports to take my engineers to Foxtrot. Looked around a little, and everything appeared empty. Easy three bases, I thought. Turns out the Americans were SWARMING through them. All of them are in artillery range, too. Go, after getting the [cabbage] kicked out of my engineers by artillery, my gunships got their acts together and wiped them out. However, then another assault from the OTHER base showed up - transports, engineers, and riflemen! My own transports and engineers fought from the relative safety of Foxtrot, and my gunships barely destroyed the riflemen and transports, thanks to a volley of HOT missiles and at least three airstrikes. But, a rogue missile from their engineers smashed up the last of them, and one or two routed. I rushed the remainder of the American foot soldiers with my transports. Relatively easy win, but relatively major losses. Waited a while to send in one more unit of gunships, since I'd noticed a unit of tanks and one of riflemen sniping at me, just out of range. Sent in some combat drones, but they got torn apart. Two airstrikes, two HOT volleys, and about three minutes of fighting ended up with me limping away with a win. Woot.[/hide] Hope Fable 2 can hold me over for this. Just look at the demo's showing of[bleep]e of the campaigns just in the American southeast! I counted six missions, just right there. Should be great. catch it now so you can like it before it went so mainstream
