RayOxide
I know for a fact that a rune defender is obviously better than an obsidian shield, especially when theres no need for the defence. I can stay at many places I've been for a while without the need of an extra +20 (Rune defender gives 20 and obby round 40 = 20) So today, (muted if anyone noticed. Only 24 hr) I decided to get my iron defender  up to rune, It took around 3 hours to get the defenders. Black from Mith was really quick, but iron - steel - black was atleast 1 hr each. Anyway, with my new rune defender; which looks awesome in comparison to the obsidian shield, I'd love to know how this has advantages over the shield. I know it has attack bonus, and I havent tested it yet since I've been running around aimlessly for no reason today. So, what shall I do with my rune defender? I know kinda pointless but I just need to know the differences ;) I dont need a siggy no moar.
n00bfiterpk6
rune defender is alot more usefull for like ererything then an obby shield. It has massive attack bonus's which are very helpful, the more accurate hits mean faster kills, meaning you take less damage then you would with the obby anyway. IMO a rune defender is even better then a DFS
Mungo0
The Rune Defender gives you the extra 20 to your attack (As you already know, no doubt. :P) This makes your attacks more accurate. That's more helpful than defence in a place where you hardly get hit anyway. Yes... Yes, that's what he said. :D

Eddo89
Faster kills, which means faster XP. With the best weapon you can use a defender, the whip, you are essentially added almost 20% in attack bonus, which is no small number considering the power. Extra strength always helps. There isn't really many instances I can think of that would make me want to use an Obby shield. If I can't survive with a defender for too long, then I prefer something like Dragon Square over it. Just go and use it, satisfaction guaranteed. Templar GuardiansWhen are trying to lend something, the word to use is borrow. Not barrows, which is a mini-game. Thunderducke
The rune defender is obviously better, as it gives you more kills over time then an obsidian shield. I assure you this is not a sig.

Grogthurk
I got a Rune Defender the first day they came out. I have to say, the second I got it, I got rid of my obby shield. For awhile, I was ridiculed for using my Defender, but now who's laughing? Defender is always going to win this debate, UNLESS you need the defense, but if you need defense get some barrows. Grogthurk
To be honest, there really is never a situation where you should use it over a defender.
obfuscator
That is not true. Boss monsters perhaps? I would use the defender when the thing you are killing does little damage and has high defence. If you have a very high attack level, the dfs is a better option, for it's huge defence bonus. Its strength bonus is also higher than a rune defender's. "It's not a rest for me, it's a rest for the weights." - Dom Mazzetti
Inuashakent
To be honest, there really is never a situation where you should use it over a defender. Scarabites is the only non dragon exception. Everything else, go with Rune defender. [Summoning guide (AOW)] [Slayer guide] [Melee & Brawl player]

THe only offensive bonus a defender has over a dfs is attack, and as i said, if your attack level is high enough a dfs will be sufficient. And that isn't even counting the huge defence bonus. :) "It's not a rest for me, it's a rest for the weights." - Dom Mazzetti
