Oooo, didn't know this thread existed. :) I'm a South African myself, love the game! But haven't played since I arrived in the States :( They don't play it feverishly here unfortunately. Anyways, maybe I'll get my fill from Tip.it (who would've thought?)

 

Is there any clubs that you can join and play with?

 

Not locally unfortunately. I'm sure I'll find one eventually. maybe when I move states one day lol. For now though, I'll enjoy the game on TV :D

A sad end to an exciting series. The Mumbai game was sold out & it somehow managed to rain in November.

 

Nevertheless, there is plenty of Cricket lined up.

 

India vs Sri Lanka 1st test tmrw. (ODIs also later)

England already in South Africa playing a T20 in 45mins & ODI's soon. (Tests later)

New Zealand hosting Pakistan for some test matches.

Australia playing against the West Indies for some Test matches.

 

Yeah, lot of action coming up.

Had practice today which went well, got some good balls down at a decent pace (brought my own ball to practice which I'd been shining a little (not that much) :P).

Bowled one absolute beauty which swung heaps from outside off, pitched on the off stump, cut back in further and hit the top of leg.

Also got a few good yorkers in.

 

Batting was a little bit meh, it was getting darkish (7:30) during my bat and the people were leaving so I really only faced spin. Problem being is that I'm terrible versus leggies that flight it. Got one monster hit in though, which was fun :P.

 

And NZ Pak tests soon, looking forward to that :)

Jayawardene made 275 against India in a test match..Amazing innings. They declared at 760/7..The way they were batting I think they would've made 1,000..India looking like they have little chance.

Yeah, that was pretty much a pointless pitch. But Sri Lanka did bat well.

 

Must be a nightmare to bowl on wickets where there is no assistance for the bowlers. As they say, It's a batsman's game.

 

Hopefully, the next venue has a better pitch to produce excitement & close finish. :)

We lost our game, but I got man of the match for getting their opener out. He was in the entire first innings and second innings, till I went in to bowl (I was sick the previous week) and got him middle-stump after 5 balls. I bowled two no-balls previously though, not very proud of that but it was all forgotten when I got the last wicket of the game.

 

We finished at 10: 30 because of the heat, and playing on was pointless. We didn't want to bat, they didn't want to bowl, but we weren't going to win. So, a loss to us. BUT, that doesn't matter. I was proud and we played quite well I reckon :).

I've been going to NZ vs Pakistan, has been awesome so far apart from the rain.... I watched Shane Bond's 3 wicket spell from pretty much behind the stumps... amazing spell, looks so quick that close

We finished play today about 3 hours ago. We were all out for 140, we got them down to 2-26 off 12. Looking pretty good sof ar, but you never know what could happen in a game of cricket ;).

 

Nothing outstanding happened, although our opener scored 58 and was in for a good hour. Sadly he got caught :(.

W.Indies got throttled. I was expecting it to be a closer game. Very good century from the 19 year old West Indian, (forgotten his name).

 

I hope the W.Indies win the next test.

Well the pitch haters were out in numbers after India thumped 415 on the 1st day, but what followed was crazy considering how Sri Lanka batted in the 1st Test match. I guess the changes made the difference ultimately. Sreesanth, been out for so long & taking 5 wickets in the 1st innings. It seems like Harbhajan must've slapped Sreesanth pretty hard to get him to bowl like that. :lol: Even Ojha managed to do well on his debut. All in all good performance.

 

Aussies thumped Windies. I don't think many would've expected anything else.

 

Close finish but NZ doing enough there. Umar Akmal to watch out for. Nice to see Shane Bond playing Tests again.

 

S.A battered England in the 3rd ODI, but right now England doing well in 4th ODI.

 

So much Cricket being played simultaneously. :P

Wd to NZ, we won something!

 

And myself, we lost by 6 runs... But we had to bad in conditions we never should have (aka pouring rain)... But the other team wouldn't come off - stupid rules the tourney has if theres no proper umpire..

I scored 6 runs, again dissapointed as I was batting well but managed to cover drive some right out of the middle all the way to the boundary fieldsman, who juggled it and caught it.. Sucks! Timed it so, so well :lol:

Bowling was better - 3/26 off 6, bowling a medium pace because of the rain (pitch was slippery as). Wasn't swinging but seamed alot.

So was a good game really, especially since my wickets were their batsman, not the tail.

Hell yeah NZ won! And I was there for the whole game. With Pakistan only needing about 70 runs to win with 5 wickets in hand, it was looking like we were heading for a loss. Who else but Shane Bond to get a vital breakthrough? The atmosphere for that last session was amazing.

 

Only problem now is that Shane Bond has an abdominal tear and will miss the rest of the tet series :wall:

It was played at the University Oval in Dunedin, it's a small oval, not a stadium with a small granstand and some temporary seating. The banks also aren't very big...

 

It's kind of trapped between a stream and a road on either side, and at one end there is an art gallery limiting the expansion (the ground is quite small, the straigth boundaries are only about 60m). However the art gallery is difficult to get rid of, as some stupid arty people see it as being historical (despite it being an ugly brick building that's only been around since 1925 or something). If they can get rid of that, expand the ground and the banks a bit, it will be a very nice cricket oval, similar to the Basin Reserve (but a bit smaller).

Sehwag is an amazing player. That innings is absolutely rediculous, hoping he gets 300! (more?)

What can u say about Sehwag? The guy is incredible to watch when he's on song like that.

 

It was like some fast forward blitz that was taking place. He has a chance to become the only player in Tests to score 3 triple hundreds. When someone bats like that it must be so deflating for the fielding team & the bowlers especially to keep taking such pounding off almost every other delivery. Spectators must've had a treat watching the run fest.

 

Sehwag to score 400+? I doubt many would bet against it judging by how he played today.

Yeah that innings has been amazing so far! If he keeps this up, hes in line to break his own record for the fastest triple century (Balls faced), which is currently 278 balls.

Awww, talk about anti climax. Forget about 400 but Sehwag didn't even reach 300. Ah well, with Sehwag there's always a next time. I thought Dhoni played superbly considering he had to play with the tail. Some of the sixes he hit, I wonder how he can generate that kind of power? One or two sixes were just short arm jabs but they were flying all over. :blink:

 

Windies finally managed to put a decent total but Aussies have started pretty well.

 

Asif is proving to be the thorn for NZ. 2 days left, still need 335 runs with 7 wickets remaining.

Sehwag is unreal. How on Earth someone can just destroy bowling attacks like him is just unbelievable. Disappointed he didn't get the 300, but I'd settle for 293 off 254 anyday :).

They showed the India scorecard during the Aussie test match when Sehwag was on 284.and batting with Dravid..I looked down and saw Tendulkar, Yuvrag, Laxman and Dhoni to come....India are an elite side

Australia (last time I saw them) were 9/380-odd I think it was. Chasing 451 I believe? West Indies are doing good, great bowling from Roach. Too bad Watson got out :(.

 

Anywho, we won yesterday! Beat kellyville into the ground. But I had a bad case of sinus, so I was only half with the game. I can't remember scores, who took the wickets, etc. I did some average fielding though. I was zonked out at drinks, was gonna go off after the last over when the bowler (who's name I won't disclose) caught their last batter out (who was getting extremely cocky).

 

I'm hoping that next week will be a better game for me personally, and for my team, well I just hope that we keep it up :). We need to win a few more agmes to make it into the semi's.
