I Am Going to 'Vans Warped Tour '05'!!

Sweet! I'm also going to Cut My Wrists and I'll Bleed on My Girlfriend Cause Fake Emo sucks '09.

Sorry, I couldn't help myself. I don't know I enjoy some of the bands in the lineup, but I'm very sick of this fake "emo" movement we have going on. A lot of these bands have just jumped on the bandwagon when that isn't even what emo is. They just a lot of 3-chord bands with whiney lyrics.

There are some decent bands so I just won't name names so you shouldn't feel offended.

-Bleeding Through

-Darkest Hour

-Dillinger Escape Plan

-MewithoutYou

-The Receiving End of Sirens

-Strike Anywhere

-Zao

I'd go just to see those bands and none of them are emo. Just because there are a few pop-punk/screamo bands on the tour it doesn't make it an emo tour. There are a lot of good hardcore/metalcore bands also playing that make up for it.

Huzzah for commercialised rock festivals!

Ive just come back from Glastonbury festival myself I dont think you can beat it. Its the best festival in the world with over 150 thousand people there on a site that spans accross 4 farms in the somerset countryside. It takes an hour to walk from one side to the other and has stages and tents for every music taste imaginable. Its a fallow year in 2006 but tickets permitting i'll definitly be there in 2007 :D

git, I've wanted to go there for ages. Just a shame no one 'amazing' plays anymore. They have a lot of solid bands, just no superstars anymore. With the possible exception of Bob Geldof.

Booze, bands, drugs, alcohol and mud. Lots and lots of mud. What could be better? 8)

Goals to get my skills back up to a barely respectable level on the high scores:

Currently going for Bone to Peaches spell. It's amazing how boring doing the same repetitive task is! Stupid MTA

Heheh, I got pretty close when Bob Geldof came onto the Pyramid stage on Saturday. If you were brave enough to wade thru the mud lakes you could get pretty close to the front really easily.

I live really locally to Glastonbury to i get loads of chances to get tickets, both thru the main website and thru the 8000 tickets allocated to local residents :D

Maybe i'm getting the wrong end of the stick but i hope that list of bands you posted isn't related to the first sentence of your post. Bleeding through are about as far from emo as you can get!

Anyway, does anyone have a full list of the bands on the tour?

Kirk and Lars I could handle. At the same time.

Considering my post was saying how there is this movement of fake "emo" today where many of the bands playing are labeled as emo when they really aren't. Bands like Sunny Day Real Estate and Rites of Spring are real emo.

Just about every band you listed falls under this category of fake emo/screamo.

Fake emo/screamo?  I know that a lot of those bands have been around a lot longer than this 'fake emo/screamo' movement or whatever you decided to dub the inflation of more underground bands coming out and getting recognition so we no longer have to listen to crap like Linkin Park, Nickleback, Creed, etc on the radio anymore. Most of the bands I listed are infact one of the following: melodic hardcore, metalcore, punk, 'insert genre here', etc.

The Unseen, Strike Anywhere, and Strung Out are punk bands. Darkest Hour, DEP, Bleeding Through, and Zao are hardcore/metalcore bands. Alexisonfire and UnderOath you can cramp into you're 'fake emo/screamo' movement, even though UnderOath has been around awhile. Thrice and The Receiving End of Sirens are more melodic post-hardcore. Avenged Sevenfold sucks and are just a metal band now.

Does every thread involved commercial punk bands have to turn into an emo argument? Jesus christ, you're just as bad as them thinking you're all perfect. Just fricken accept who people are, theres some awesome bands playing there.

Cheers merc, there's a fair few bands there i'd like to see, and a few i've never even heard of before.

I agree with Futurama though, nobody cares what genre the bands fall into (or at least they shouldn't), and if you don't like them, what are you doing in this topic?

Kirk and Lars I could handle. At the same time.
