Comments on an ambigram sig?

Featured Replies

I have worked for some time on an ambigram for my name. I wanted to use it in a new sig, but as of today only the ambigram is finished, and I made it into a minimal sig. Any comments or ratings c/c are welcome.

p.s. An ambigram is a text that can be rotated by 180 degree and still looks the same.

you should make this into an animated gif so that the text can rotate, highlighting the point :D

Just to let you know, ambigram isn't in the dictionary..I think you have the wrong word, but I don't know what the correct one is.

"An ambigram is a word or a group of words which can be read in at least two different ways. The most usual are symmetric under a rotation of 180 degrees (i.e., they look the same upside down) or under a vertical axis reflection (i.e., they look the same in a mirror). The term "ambigram" was coined by Douglas Hofstadter and some of his friends; see pp. 274-277 of his excellent book Metamagical Themas (Basic Books, 1985)."

rangesig.gif

very cool, like the font....... YAY ambigrams!

98.35/100 Very cool

Yah, the book "Angels and Demons" by Dan Brown. I just finished reading that, it got me into ambigrams.

Since I am obsessed with ambi's I give your sig 9.5/10

Nice to see you like the sig, thank you. About the rotation: One problem is that the sig (or the max size allowed for it) is too small to rotate it without cutting it. But you are right, I need some way to highlight the symmetry.

How is the readability? I am personally not 100% happy with the y/s combination and the e/m part, but i couldn't find a better way do write it yet.

for the e/m part there is another solution (this is from ambigram.matic):

em.gifme.gif

but having two different types of 'e' in the name looks not very well either.

Any ideas, comments, suggestions or ratings welcome

Woa, you made the imageshack site? Nice.

ahh Dan Brown had some interesting ambigram's in the book he wrote before The DaVinci Code.

thx, maybe I should take a look at Dan Brown's books once.

@Quer_Skulll: I didn't really get your point ... hmmm. Do you think my ambigram should be simplified more, or use a simpler base font?

all interested in doing their own ambigram, can take a look at these to engines generating ambigrams automatically:

http://www.ambigram.matic.com/ambigram.htm

http://perso.wanadoo.fr/jean-paul.davalan/liens/liens_ambi.html

the ambigrams obtained from these are not always perfect, but they are a good start or just nice to get some ideas.

nice one Mercifull :D

@Quer_Skulll: I will soon make and upload a black and white version ... looking forward to your scan, thx.

edit: here is the black and white version of the sig:
