quick slayer question

Can a pure, with 1 defence, efficiently do slayer still?

I've gotten to 55 using mainly range, and dumping unwanted (or very hard) tasks.

I have 52 prayer, so I guess I can pray against them, but im wanting to train my melee up along with slayer.. Is this possible, or a pipe dream, for someone with 1 Defence?

Possible, but extremely inefficient.

I know a pure with 10 defense (to wear a black mask), and he has almost 90 Slayer. It's entirely possible, but if you do it, you might want to consider ranging most of your tasks.

EDIT: Scratch that, he has 96 Slayer with all of his combat stats at 99 except for Defense, which is still 10, Prayer - 53, and Summoning - not ranked.

It is easily do-able, and once you get 85+ combat (for Smoking Kills) you will be able to profit easily. I got 65 slayer already just ranging tasks, it isn't bad at all. At 70 combat when I can use Chaeldar I will go back to slaying till 99 range. After 99 range I will just camp for magic and then get 85 combat with summoning most likely and I will be able to use Sumona tasks. You will have to pray melee every task, but you can still make money. I piety every task on my main account, and I use cannon when possible, and I still make loads off slayer.

Safespotting is the key: I'm wondering myself often why I ever wasted the time to train defense since I "safe spot" 75% of the tasks nowadays... (otherwise I'll probably be praying).

Only a few will become extremely hard to do. (not sure which, I can't think of a monster which can't be safespotted).

First they came to fishing

and I didn't speak out because I wasn't fishing

Then they came to the yews

and I didn't speak out because I didn't cut yews

Then they came for the ores

and I didn't speak out because I didn't collect ores

Then they came for me

and there was no one left to speak out for me.

Getting 55 slayer, i had alot of trouble with pyrefiends, they hit mega accuratly, and pretty high.. I'm usually pretty good at finding safe spots, but I couldnt find anything useable..

And I guess that if I want slayer on my pure, I will have to range, no chance I can melee.. oh well

Pyrefiends can "easily" be safe spotted.. (if you know the moving pattern): you can shoot over the rocks at the east (the middle part).

As for meleeing: well this depends on your pray level: you could also go in and protect melee a lot of monsters!

It won't be efficient, but it's possible. It'd be alot easier if you have 45 defense + Summoning, though. :XD:

But then again, Slayer is ALWAYS inefficient compared to normal training. ;)

I HAVE A CONVERT!!!!!!!!!!

(sorry)

Yeah, unless you want to have high slayer for bragging rights, you will get much better XP at a spot like flesh crawlers, especially at your defence level.

But you gain Slayer xp? And almost all skills in RS is just for total skills.

On top of that, you gain access to some of the best item droppers in the game, while having the ability to train every combat stat all at once.
