Danqazmlp
Alot of people seem to be forgetting there is a user base for a built in spell check feature. A rather small one but there will still be people who would use it. It won't harm anybody and shouldn't be too much trouble adding to the forums, so i can't seee why not to add a spell checker. But then they would whinge and moan because it isn't in there Language (American, etc.) and everything. But if there is a feature for this, then I think it could be good. I certainly agree that there isn't any harm in doing it, some people could have a lot of use for it.

Hawks
I think I may have replied to this already, but no harm in adding my two cents again. I would definitely use it, as I'm stuck with IE because my father thinks it's grand and wonderful. There are probably others in the same situation (no control over internet browser) who would be grateful to have it if it was added. sig by Soa.....tip.it times.....art & mediadeviantart/flickr/last.fm/steam/twitter/tumblr/youtube

Hegel
I think there are at present much bigger aspects of poor English than spelling, such as grammar and even punctuation. It is quite horrifying to see how often people use concocted meaningless phrases such as 'could of' (it should be could've, or could have), or mix up words such as your with you're and there with they're. Misuse of punctuation and especially apostrophes are also very widespread, such as 'buying nature's' and even 'thank's'. Of course, poor spelling is a problem, and if the community's proficiency in spelling is improved then the problem would be ameliorated. While there are potential problems that may be brought about by a spell checker, I think they are not significant enough and are hence overridden by the potential gains. So, the issue for me is whether or not the technicians are willing to spend the time (and resources?) to install such a feature.
IGoddessI
I don't mind the idea. But at the same time that would just take away the uniqueness of some posters. Let's face it... some people just wouldn't be who they are if they could spell everything correctly. The reason why I wouldn't mind it though is because I have an automatic American one on mine so half the time I type in American spelling, the other half in Australian. It probably confuses the hell out of people. It confuses the hell out of me. The only people who tell you that you can't do something are those who have already given up on their own dreams so feel the need to discourage yours. pureprayer
Firefox has a spell checker. USE THE FOX. Also something about the red line under the mis-spelled words makes you want to remove the red lines. Pureprayer, you're awesome.

The spell check thing I was talking about is a button you press after you are done typing and it will work simular to Microsoft Word. I almost forgot about this thread >.<.
