I just think Stronghold of Security game or adventure, that you join when you climb down the hole in Barbarian Village, is kinda frustrating.

 

Because I've been fighting the monster that should drop the pieces of the Spectre. I've gotten the first two pieces from level one and two. Now I'm down on the third level.

 

The monsters never drop the pieces, it takes freaking long time. I've been fighting Catablepon for 1 hour and half now and they don't drop the Top Spectre piece..

 

The first two pieces took long time too, and I have another one to collect in level 4. It's freaking unbelieveable.. Make the things drop more often.

But for something that degrades and is non-trade able, the staff has a very low drop rate. This is quite frustrating for some.

I've gotten 18 scepters, and have spent over 100 hours fighting Ankous alone. Since you brought up luck, good or bad, how many have you gotten again?

Wait, why do you even want the scepter? It's essentially useless. Sure, you can tele to Barbarian Village, or you could just walk there(the F2P is rather small, you could buy the runes necessary for a Varrock Tele then just walk to Barbarian Village, or you could even obtain Body Alter Tele Tabs and walk to Barbarian Village from there.

I'm surprised it takes that long. When I used to train on flesh crawlers, I would get 10-15 pieces per trip. Then again, different pieces are probably harder to get.

You have better\worse luck with all the pieces, but it averages out. I'd say that I could probably get all 4 pieces in under 20 minutes on average.

It is. It would take a near-maxed player like me roughly 5 minutes per piece. But to continue on that argument, value does NOT equate to rarity. To use an example of a drop I got roughly an hour ago: a shield half from black demons. One of the rarest drops in the game, worth exactly its alch price - the cost of a nat. Other drops, like dragon spear or med helm, are the same way. What about dragon plateskirts? All rare drops - none valuable. Just because an item is semi-worthless doesn't mean it should be a common drop. But in this case, it is. Dragon square shield halves take dozens, if not hundreds, of hours to get, but are only worth 66k, one of the many cases where a RARE drop is inexpensive.

I have to agree. Anyway the whole point of drops are that they are random, one time it took me less than half an hour to get all 4 pieces. Though another time it took me around 3 hours, it all depends on your luck ;)

No such thing as luck. The probability of getting a scepter is less then 5 minutes per piece

This isn't a rare drop, though - you should get a drop within 5 minutes if your killing as fast as possible.

I giggled at how 1-2 hours of nothing is rant worthy.I spend days at Lessers hoping for a challenge scroll.

I used to find the pieces and drop them believing them too be junk :lol:

Ok, maybe it's a good "dungeon" for the free players. But... the amount of in game "content" about keeping your account safe is bordering on ridiculous. They just need to issue one warning (like on the "log in" screen) and that's enough. If you can't keep your PC safe it's your own fault, nothing to do with Jagex. How many other video games barrage you with such "advice"? All this security stuff just ruins the atmosphere of Runescape in general if you ask me. What's worse is you have to do this annoying dungeon to complete the Varrock achievement diary.

SoS is a great addition for F2P offering a good mixed level dungeon with intresting design and useful monsters for training (ankokus, etc.)

 

But constant "If some-one tells you they can make you a P-mod do you:...." is fairly irritating after the Nth time you've passed through ANY doors,

 

Personally being able to turn these off at the doomsayer would be a great boon, new update perhaps Jagex??
