What exactcly says that the world around us is not just our mind projecting an image and everything is already set in stone and made, and nothing can change your future because your present is the pasts future. or what if plato was right, that there is a world with all the "perfect" forms of our everyday items lol what if my brother actually cleaned his room?!? Sumpta
I love how full TIF'ers can be of themselves. Nobody's really that different. Human = human = human. There aren't many variations to the theme. At high school, it often feels that way, because you move in rather small circles of people who differ largely in intelligence, interests,... Most of the people around you are still growing up and developping their personalities. It becomes important to have a norm and to stick to that norm and if you don't stick to it, you're different. Some start wearing this difference as a label to distinguish themselves, but you're just fooling yourself. As you grow older, and move in specific circles (e.g. studies, job,...) you'll meet similar people, the differences fade and you'll find that the average isn't removed from you that exceedingly far. Well maybe thats how life is for you, but maybe for some of us life isnt like that, maybe some of us are different? I'm 36 now, still havent met anyone like me. I know it seems silly, but you've got to consider that if you dont find yourself particularly different, its not logical to conclude that we are all the same from that evidence, you can only conclude that you youself aren't particularly different. If you then come across people who say "well actually things are a bit different for me" to then say to them "Well you aren't really different" is just ignoring evidence to the contrary to keep your world view the same. Trust me when I say, there are people out there who are very very different. Not just from the mainstream but also from each other. I have lots and lots off friend who are different, we hang out together because we find it difficult to get on in the world because we dont readily find a place for ourselves, so at least we have one thing in common, but we dont really have anything else in common. Ginger_Warrior
Teenagers have a tendency to exaggerate certain traits about themselves in order to create the impression they're different. I suppose for some it's to feel as though they have a niche or purpose on a social circle. Adults do it too though, it's just that teenagers are maturing more rapidly. At the end of the day, you're both right. | Favourite Game Music | Last.fm | HYT Friend Chat Rules |

Deiophobus
Kind of what I was getting at too Sumpta. As well as what you said, people want to feel different from the crowd, to fuel their ego. greene8535
I think that everyone thinks they're different from the crowd, especially with the trend of being a 'rebel'. That is exactly what I think.... seriously, if everybody is different, that would make different normal, making EVERYBODY normal! Now, I can be, for a fact, different... I have been home-schooled all my life (Freshman in HS now) My middle name is greene (odd much) I play runescape, football, and get straight A's, Play rock guitar and classical piano..... I am a fairly contrasted person... You agree that everybody is normal for wanting to be different, then you use common examples to show that it is a "fact" that you're different? I said I can be, for a fact different... that doesn't mean I am :-# At the end of my post, I said I was a fairly contrasted person... nobody can argue that point, (Well... they can, but to what end?) Shinjula
I wouldnt have thought that dress would count as being different unless it was something youd made yourself? Equally I dont think listening to a particular band makes you different unless its music youve written yourself, but thats just my opinion.
