I lost ... money when I was hacked (creative beggars)

Featured Replies

I'm sure everyone's seen at least one, they almost always hang out at the G.E. Beggars. Some are just outright asking for handouts, others try to be more creative. I'm sure there are a number of people out there who legitimately lose money by having their account hacked. However, as many people as I've seen claiming to have lose large amounts of money, I find it hard to believe they are all being honest. Players who announce how much money they lost from being hacked repeatedly, very suspicious. Unless, maybe someone with a kind heart feels sorry for these poor victims and then these "victims" get free money. While I am sure there is no way to stop people from doing this, I am sure it is disheartening to many players, especially those out there who actually have lost money from being hacked. If you had that much money to lose, how did you get it in the first place? Hard work and honest playing, at least if you were being honest, that would be the case. I wonder how often this ploy actually works? I doubt it would be anything spectacular, so why do people keep doing it?

It is like the old Chinese proverb: "Waiting Near A Stump for Rabbits"

If you beg once and someone pity you with large gp, then you would want to beg again in hope for another "sucker"

People like to take the 'helpless' stance, saying they can't make money and beg for someone to help them. Pretty soon they believe it themselves. Obviously they make basically nothing with the trade limit etc., but half of them will say they have 'no way to make money' despite the fact that there are hundreds, if not thousands of methods that they could use which would be far better then begging.

Dry streak records: Saradomin 412 kills Bandos 988 kills Spirit Mages 633 kills - Slayer Sucks

This is why I gave a huge sigh when Jagex upped the trade limit X2, it was a good thing for normal players but it gave the beggars more motivation to get out there and mooch. But at least I haven't seen half as much begging after a general trade limit was introduced. IMO begging is the most pathetic and pitiful thing you could ever do in this game without doing something illegal like autoing or hacking. Every noob I see begging "6K pl0x?" I think they could probably make more money in the amount it takes to actually scam someone doing a skill. If you're going to be lazy and play a game all day, for God's sake don't be lazy in the game too! Go skill if you want money.

Agreed Frosty. I was thinking pretty much the same thing. Been thinking it for all the years I have played. These pathetic souls could make as much or more money. More than likely more if they would just go do something for it. On top of that, they would be training up a skill and getting better at it, thus being able to make money faster or in better ways eventually. This begging mentality has always baffled me.

Edit: Thing is, they would probably make the money quicker by actually doing something for it instead of begging for it.

Isnt that also the main reason the Lumbridge Job system is created in the first place? Obviously not too many people noticed about this months after the first release.

I thought the old Chinese proverb was:

Give a man a fish, he eats for a day

Teach a man to fish, he eats for a lifetime

Slap a man with a fish while dancing, you have a Monty Python sketch.

I could almost cry I love it that much. I doubt the general RS populous would catch the reference though.

Back on topic: I think the general reason why you can't teach the beggars how to make money is simple: They probably know how they COULD make money but it would take too long for them to do it. Though I doubt they really get anything for the time they waste begging anyways.

Errmmmm free money plz.

That is the worst begging thing in the world. If sombody say "I have been hacked and I lost my money" the right thing to do would be either

A: tell them how to make money

B: exclaim at the top of your (imaginary l33t speek) voice LIEK ZOMG I AM REPORTING YOU ACCOUNT STEALER!!!

A nice undieable one!!!

Whell once I gave a rune pickaxe to one such beggar. Turns out he really got hacked and in a week he gave me back the rune pickaxe, wearing a full rune.

But that was one in a hundret. When I offered that to others, I mostly got called a noob, or they would just say "can' t I have the money instead?".

RSN:Mico1311 Combat: 82 Highest skill: Fishing 75 Playing time: From around August 2003

The guy in my avatar is Veso, a comedian mastermind.

I could never understand this myself. They must recieve a relatively small amount complared to the amount of time spent begging. Hence would it not be a hell of a lot more beneficial to go and train skills and earn their own cash?!

Fools. I always told them that too.

Wow, that's . . . . actually really kind of you. And trusting, I'm not sure I wouldn't trust the other person to simply sell it off and keep on with the begging, emboldened by the response.

I especially dislike the beggars who are not level 3, but are instead level 65 or 70. They obviously did some skills to get that level, and they obviously had some money (otherwise why would they be complaining about being hacked? The hacker had to have taken some items or cash or they wouldn't have even noticed, most likely), so why can't they go USE THOSE FREAKIN' SKILLS THEY'VE ALREADY GOT!!?!?!?!

. . . . Sorry, I get angry sometimes. And by the way, I always thought that the metaphor was:

Give a man a fish and he'll eat for a day.

Teach a man to fish and you'll lose your hold on him.

Although I always preferred this one:

Give a man a fire and he's warm for a day.

Light him on fire and he'll be warm for the rest of his life.

It's really odd isn't it. They had money, and they knew how, why don't they do what they did before?

What I like to do with higher level beggars is look them up on the highscores and judging from their stats tell them to do such and such to get money. Then they say they were given the account...

It's what I do

You ever notice that over half the population of RuneScape got "hacked" when they had a full "party hat set"?

I love to meet people; send me a pm if you see me on RuneScape! :)

I would say 'tell them where to get a job from' but every time I've suggested it to a begger they have gone "no, give me money plox" :x

You're making it sound like not understanding a Monty Python joke is a sign of immaturity and underage.

Beggars are easy to ignore in my opinion. For those situations when one begs specifically from you, here's a tip: add him to the ignorelist with one powerful click, and when you do it think of it like you're killing that beggar, that you're dealing him a huge blow that he'll never recover from. That thought will make you happy and you won't be annoyed by them anymore. Yes, I'm still sane.

You're being watched.

I lost 1.63 mill in a pvp world while taunting pures (showing them my money in a safe zone then telling them to watch while I step into a space where I can be owned then when they run towards me I go to the safe zone again.) when I underestimated a lvl forty something and got owned faster than I though was possible by a ranged pure. (to bad I didn't have any runes on me or he would've been owned faster than a noob could say '5k pl0x') I didn't go out and beg, I went out and started using the skills I raised. The only thing that made my happy was knowing that because of Jagex's PVP system that ranger didn't even get half of the cash, he probably got a magic ammy, bones, some mith armor, a iron axe, a bunch of noob food, and various other random objects. Oh yeah, that guide on how to use your ignore list and be happy as a result is AWESOME! =D>

and then he starts putting on his best armour while saying "lol u level 3 noob i tricked you" "lol i have 50k, i dont need you monoey"

Does he still not realise that everyone hates him? wish I had a screenshot of it.
