Post and discuss all Jagex Twitter updates here!
haggisoflife replied to forestfrolic's topic in General Discussion
As they've all but said MA is coming out next week I think he's playing with us, and with the fact that every other preview tweet has had an instant response of "ITS MA!!" -
I dunno, if we ask real nice they might at least think about that last one

19th June - Golden Joystick Awards
haggisoflife replied to haggisoflife's topic in General Discussion
Depends how many of the players vote for them, and if people who don't play remember how much they've managed to squeeze out of Java I think your thinking of "The Movies". And if your not going to vote for Jagex then Lionhead (imo) is a damn fine choice as well  -

19th June - Golden Joystick Awards

It was up on the runescape.com page, but it's now been taken down. It's still up on FunOrb.com though, so I wonder if they might have been asked to take it down from RS to stop the golden joystick site falling over :P -
"5 Questions" with JMods - Long read [Facebook]
haggisoflife replied to Mil's topic in General Discussion
Can't say I was impressed with the questions that Andrew guy asked but the responses were kinda cute :) The last session they did (http://www.facebook.com/note.php?note_id=95162977587) was more insightful, but that was due to the person not asking the same damn silly question 3 times. IMO they just had bad luck with who they picked, noones fault. -
16th June 2009 Bounty Worlds and Gravestones
haggisoflife replied to Toad's topic in General Discussion
I thought it was more that a number of people decided, on very minimal "evidence", that it was Mobilising armies and then everyone decided to belivied them and got their hopes up cause the words "Still the new conveyances should help..." could, maybe, possibly, perhapse, if-you-squint-at-it have meant the content they were being hopeful about. seriously, given the wording of those previews I'm amased you can even work out they are about a content update half the time  -
So it would work like a thesaurs then, giving us different words with a similar meaning and a different turn of phrase. Considering that we are trying to solve a puzzle that sounds to me like multiple sets of clues, all the same clue but it's like being able to look at a jigsaw from different angles.

11th June 2009 - Macro-detection systems update
haggisoflife replied to Mil's topic in General Discussion
My understanding of it, from all the Mod posts and talking to one in game a while back, was that they use the scanner to check for suspects and then a mod checks them out to see if they actually were doing anything wrong. So, to use your example, I belive it's a case of 'scan, investigate, evaluate, then jail if proof found' rather than 'scan & can if machine says 'yes''. -

There is also no proof that it isn't, cause it's not like they can publish a list of all the accounts that they banned and then give full disclouse of the details for us to review etc imo they would only bother posting this if they want people to stop macroing as they are losing money from banning too many people. The post is aimed at discouraging players from cheating, rather than assuring people that cheaters will be banned like they did in the past. If they wanted to stop people quiting they would be all "oh we're keeping things safe for the honest player", so that people didn't walk with their memberships (which can come back to play). This is a lot more "We will find you so don't do it", cause they don't want to ban people for ever (who are much less likely to come back to play on a new account). either way - if it means less bots then I'm happy \ -
Flaming = Bad Heated & Passionate discussion = Good Telling the difference = nightmare Basically we need someone who won't pull the plug on a discussion just because two people are involved in a heavy debate over it. I think that Hall of Flame would be great, should show where the line is and set the rule by precident and example rather than wording =D>
-
yes - but they would need to give people a good amount of leyway on how 'passionate' they could get.

I agree that the year of update is getting somewhat long in the tooth but your points seem a little harsh 1. Skills have not been updated or improved Like with most years the changes are all the little things, the tweeks and the fixes. Honestly can't remember the last big skill change that wasn't a new skill, but I'd agree that a new one would be excellent 2. CONTINUATION of favouring mellee Has always been broken, mostly in favour of whichever style you don't play. 3. STOP ruining your own game But that's what Jagex have always done since day 1, I though it was their business plan or something 4. DESERTED AREAS OF RS this is MONTH 6 of the update year and the poll's are about naming a pub??? HuH?????! Agreed - if it's supposed to be a year of updates then make it a big bunch of change and not squibby little things like that. 5. COMMUNITY? WHAT community?! all under the "coming soon" banner. Possibly should be renamed the "8 months of dev then 4 months of huge releases". Makes me think this year wasn't well though out at all 6. New updates WRECKING old content and skills Again: this has happened since the very first update. When will jagex learn: players don't want change! 7. New updates that are IGNORED because they don't improve on prior items, or content I'll agree that some of the value of the updates passed me by but i think you're being a little harsh here. 8. FINISH quests, finish creating items that were demanded from players for ages Agreed - tie up the loose ends of the game before putting more in. Sooooo many plot lines that could be finished off and leave some space for new epic lines 9. STOP listening to players / STOP changing like the sea with each CEO Agreed about the CEO (though tbh it's only happened once) but "STOP listening to players"?? erm... your aware that that invalidates the whole point of your post, right? And imo would be a waste of time. Maybe "stop having kneejerk reactions to that weeks bunch of moaning ninnies" would be a better rallying cry. Oh yeah, and from all the stuff I've seen and heard Andrew is guiding it, he just has MMG doing loads of the work with him

I do. If the evidence they had is solid and the offence was big enough then I don't see why it would take more than a couple of seconds to check it out. How about "get over it"? They don't give out the evidence as if they did it would show how they track these offences. They've made that clear again and again and again. So if they think that you did it why would they suddenly change their mind?

Nice video, but the look on his face at the 1.15 mark just scares the hell out of me See what I mean?

on the one hand it's nice that they told us, but on the other I hope they get it back online quickly as I'm quite sure that the spammers/scammers took this as a green flag to do what they want whilst being unreportable -

I dunno, could have sworn I heard someone say "Get the [Cabbage] off the stage!" -
[cabbage] 'em. If they are going to chew you out cause of a game you play then so be it, it doesn't matter what you do they are going to chew you out on something so just stop hanging around with them.

I have a pot of boiling oil to help with the cleansing
