Mil
http://news.runescape.com/newsitem.ws?id=1937 Its been a while since we updated you on what we are doing to prevent cheating in RuneScape, and particularly to catch and ban macroers, so heres whats currently going on: Youve probably already noticed while playing the game that there has been a lot less macroing going on over the last year, as weve been getting more effective at preventing it. Gone are the days where every tree has an accompanying crowd of bots. However, were not resting on our laurels, and in fact we have just strengthened our macro-detection systems yet again. We are about to ban several thousand more accounts for macroing. We have reviewed all the macro programs available, and there are none we cannot detect. These days we are taking a zero-tolerance approach to macroing. Players caught for macroing dont receive a warning, or a chance to appeal, or even a last-chance appeal - they are just permanently banned. Dont make the mistake of believing that well be soft, and that you can get away with it until you are warned. You cant. Dont risk your account. By the time you realize youve been caught it will be far too late. Also, high-level and members accounts are NOT immune, or given an extra chance. One of the reasons for our RWT changes was precisely so players couldnt effectively macro on lowlevel, throwaway accounts to gain wealth. This means they were tempted to macro on their highlevel, main accounts instead, which plays straight into our hands as our existing anti-macro systems catch and ban them! This has proven very effective; so far this month we have already banned over 500 high-level accounts with skills in the 80s and 90s. Dont make your account one of them. This is a warning to players that would have otherwise been sucked in by the misinformation spread by cheating communities; dont do it, or you will lose your hard-earned account. For further information, please refer to the honour section of the Rules of RuneScape.

warren211
Not exactly a huge leap foreward in the macroing war, but I'm glad to see that they're keeping it up. I've always hated macroers and gold farmers. I report auto talkers whenever I see them, I used to lure bots to their death back when they would follow yew log trails towards a nasty hobgoblin, and I LOVED pking gold farmers back in old wilderness when they killed green dragons. They're not usually autoers, but they're rule breakers and I loved the satisfaction of watching them die. It's great to see that I'm not the only one who enjoys watching cheaters suffer, and I'm happy that Jagex is not giving up on eradicating the world on macroers. [hide=]tip it would pay me $500.00 to keep my clothes ON :( :lol:But then again, you fail to realize that 101% of the people in this universe hate you. Yes, humankind's hatred against you goes beyond mathematical possibilities. That tears it. I'm starting an animal rebellion using my mind powers. Those PETA bastards will never see it coming until the porcupines are half way up their asses.[/hide]Apparently a lot of people say it. I own. http://linkagg.com/ Not my site, but a simple, budding site that links often unheard-of websites that are amazing for usefulness and fun. Wachtwoord
I hope they can track auto talkers too. Every (nearly) full member's world I've visited has at least one of them (usually more) advertising those stupid manipulation CC's at the GE. -.- When everything's been said and done, more has been said than done. All skills 80+

guitar_god_2007
hmm so thats just basicly saying "were banning accounts in the next month" ?? Hmm is it bad that i've been 'Reported' twice in the past month for autoing just because i dont talk when i skill? mainly cos i have chat set to 'off'? firecat318
I like their writing style - very threatening. But non-the-less I like this approach (banning even high level members). hmm so thats just basicly saying "were banning accounts in the next month" ?? Hmm is it bad that i've been 'Reported' twice in the past month for autoing just because i dont talk when i skill? mainly cos i have chat set to 'off'? I'm sure their "detection system" can tell if you're just playing with chat off or not, by how often you move, when you take breaks, etc.

n64jive
I'm a little worried. My account was stolen for around 6 months. After I finally recovered it, I noticed that the account had an offense(noes!!!!) for macroing. It was temp banned for like 3 days according to the emails I went through. I appealed when I got the account back, as I had proved to Jagex that my account had been stolen(the hacker continously recovered it after I recovered it), but the refused to accept my appeal. O well, I don't mind a black mark as long as it doesn't lead to future bans. Anyway, hopfully Jagex doesn't decide to punish my account now. As long as they don't, I don't macro, and am not worried about future offenses(assuming it doesn't get stolen again, which shouldn't happen as I refuse to play on a public computer anymore)... Danqazmlp
No appeal doesn't sound good if you didn't do it through otherwise great job. la la la
This is bittersweet. We all dislike macroers because they are blatant cheaters, but at the same time, they lower prices on raw materials that most sane people can't bear to get. It's already pretty obvious that most of the skilling economy has gone out the window with the banning of macroers, simply because raw materials are too expensive now. I guess I should be happy that the cheaters are gone.
Sy_Accursed
No appeal doesn't sound good if you didn't do it through otherwise great job. There really isn't any didn't do it, the only thing is if your acc was used by somebody else to do it. mmm I think there is no didn't do it, but as shown there is the circumstance of if u lose ur account and someone else does it. I should think Jagex should atleats give a last chance appeal to an account banned for macroing, but ONLY unban it if they appealer can prove beyond all resonable doubt they were not in control of the account at the time. But even so this should only apply to higher level accounts and only for inconsistent macroing. Eg 3 yr old account with 6 hours of macro 1 day from a totally random ip nvr logged for tht account b4 Operation Gold Sparkles :: Chompy Kills :: Full Profound :: Champions :: Barbarian Notes :: Champions Tackle Box :: MA RewardsDragonkin Journals :: Ports Stories :: Elder Chronicles :: Boss Slayer :: Penance King :: Kal'gerion Titles :: Gold Statue
