Whoever remembers mine "Getting a new PC" thread, give yourself a nice warm jug of milk with plenty of cookies and a welcome pat on the back :ugeek:

Tomorrow I'm buying a used Xbox 360, for $150 Canadian and to be honest I know nothing about them

I have no idea what games to get or how/what/why.

You recommendations, and a little comment on why I should get that game would be greatly appreciated.

Also Ps3 vs Xbox 360 flame war is welcome here.

if you don't get XBL then you will be drastically limited...

Not really.

Hell, we can't get ADSL out here, selling the console is starting to creep into my mind :ohnoes:

Oblivion

Fallout 3 (maybe, I was disapointed)

Gears of War 1/2

Honestly I don't think there are that many stellar titles out for the system, I mostly use mine for Rock band 2 these days. Still those are some good titles.

But seriously if you listed the games you had I wouldnt be suprised.

Rent single player games (Fable 2, Mass Effect, Fallout3), buy multiplayer ones (GoW2, COD:WaW, Halo3)

Buy popular [read; crap] multiplayer games like Halo and GoW.

Alternatively, do a little research yourself. If youre buying a system but you have no clue as to what games you want, youre priorities are the wrong way around.

How many games are you buying?

I'd probably get Xbox Live, as it's really fun. My suggestions are:

-Oblivion: Good open-ended game for the 360. This should keep you occupied for a while. Morrowind is supposed to be good, too, so you should probably want to look into both games.

-Call of Duty 4/Call of Duty: World at War: Good multiplayer games with fun campaigns. WaW is the newer one, and CoD4 is set in modern times. You can still, arguably, do more in WaW. A few things are improved. Both are excellent games, though. I'd suggest one.

-A music game: If you have some money to invest, one of the band games, like Rock Band 2, is a good choice. They're really fun.

You probably have at least a few ideas on what you'd like to get, right? That's why you're getting a 360. Do you play the Halo series? If so, and if you're looking for some fun online multiplayer, I'd suggest Halo 3. The campaign is actually pretty fun, as well.

And there are also a bunch of games that are good rentals, if you don't want to buy a lot.

Get Xbox Live if you can.

Games I'd recommend:

Tom Clancy's EndWar.

Fallout 3.

Bioshock.

Grand Theft Auto 4.

Rock Band (1, 2, Guitar Hero 5, whatever).

LEFT FOUR DEAD AUGH

Plus games like Halo or Call of Duty can be fun.

catch it now so you can like it before it went so mainstream

nobodies suggested the orange box?

First and foremost, make sure that the 360 you're getting comes with a hardrive, very important. You don't want any of that Arcade crap. As for recommendations, I'll make a general list of games for offline, and online play.

Reccomendations

Bioshock (FPS with character building elements/Offline only)

Oblivion Game of the Year Edition (First Person Action/RPG Offline only)

Soul Calibur IV (Weapon fighting game/Xbox Live.)

Halo 3 (FPS/Don't buy unless you plan to get Xbox Live)

Call of Duty 4:Modern Warfare (FPS/Again, value rests in it's online play)

Call of Duty:World at War(See cod4)

Fallout 3(FPS/RPG/Like Oblivion, in the future)

Rainbow Six Vegas 2(FPS/Best played online)

Fable 2(RPG/Online)

Gears of War/Gears of War2(Shooter/Best played online)

GTA IV(Grand Theft Auto, self explanatory/Online play)

Orange Box(Includes 3 games/Half Life 2-Offline/Portal-Offline/Team Fortress 2-online)

Those are some of the more popular games. You didn't really list any specific tastes, so I just listed a few of the more popular ones.
