The only real advantage of going there is because you can use combat familiars. You need a very high summoning level to make it worthwhile (I went there a couple of times with a Lava Titan).

I've always thought someone could gather around high level summoners into a clan chat, then organize trips to the CT place. If it gets popular enough, people could fight on the same world for just 10 - 15 minutes to remove the aggressiveness, then hop to their own worlds. CT Waterfiends clan, anyone? It's a pretty fun place actually.

By the way, you might possibly remove the aggressiveness if you stood in the east side of the turoth section. It's very close to the Waterfiends, so they might count as the same area. And I'm sure jumping through a portal (in itself) doesn't reset the aggressiveness. It's only if the other portal you jumped to is far away enough.

The problem with waterfiends is that they have high defence to everything but crush weapons. You can try chinning and although it's probably the best charm rate available, you'll only last so long before their combo of attacks takes you out. Ice bursting is probably a waste and suicide since mage armor's mage defence is lower than d'hide (assuming you're protecting from range, which you'd have to be an idiot to not use). So soloing them effectively hard to accomplish unless you're a maxed player looking for a faster slayer task.

But at it's current state, it may still have its uses.

1. It offers a dangerous result for random teleports, making the CT a very dangerous place. One wrong teleport and you could take quite some damage in seconds. It helps keep the noobs out of the CT.

2. This might be a fun and unique idea for clan/tet events. Mass charm hunting with lootshare? Or even without it? THEN that could be effective chinning because damage is much more spread out.

But I'm sure theres an alternative no one has thought of yet. What about the d hally and d 2h spec? That could dish out massive damage (but does d hally even have a crush option?). There has to be more to these waterfiends than scaring noobs and attracting maxed players.

tip it would pay me $500.00 to keep my clothes ON :(
But then again, you fail to realize that 101% of the people in this universe hate you. Yes, humankind's hatred against you goes beyond mathematical possibilities.
That tears it. I'm starting an animal rebellion using my mind powers. Those PETA bastards will never see it coming until the porcupines are half way up their asses.

Apparently a lot of people say it. I own.

Run through, go to the north side of the waterfiends. Kill the one there. Use a Unicorn/Titan, and you can also use SGS. It's really not hard imo... I did it fine. Take a couple sharks just incase I suppose.

I find it easy to get unaggro. So I dunno >.>

I was wondering, is the Statius warhammer 1-handed, if it is, wouldn't it be a pretty effective weapon here? I addition to a Spirit shield (I'm assuming someone who can afford the shield can afford buying a few of these).

Really that help from crush attacks is greatly over rated! - When I went to waterfiends for a few rounds I indeed saw that crush was the better option, but when leaving my zammy spear on slash (instead of crush) I didn't notice too much of a difference: generally I killed them a bit more slowly: but nothing too much to worry about (about 1.25 times as slowly, so 80% as few times hit)! - This let me to believe that a whip is better than a mace/dbaxe/obbymace/dwarhammer... Especially at higher attack levels (I'm currently only 83) the difference between teh styles gets less and less (in "infinite" level you would have 0 misses, and all styles would be equally good).. So for somebody maxed in melee the best (payable) combo would be arcane shield, karils, whip. Topped off with an unicorn (or maybe an geyser/iron titan?) + whip, praying range.

But I still believe the single-combat waterfiends are clearly superior to these ATM!

First they came to fishing

and I didn't speak out because I wasn't fishing

Then they came to the yews

and I didn't speak out because I didn't cut yews

Then they came for the ores

and I didn't speak out because I didn't collect ores

Then they came for me

and there was no one left to speak out for me.

I and my friend did a few runs there. It went quite beautifully, with both of us getting more than normal charms each in lesser periods of time. However, the next time I went, most of the charms went to him due to his LSP being high. As such, it gets very hard to convince people that CT isn't a bad spot, and out of those select few, not many are there who wouldn't come LSP-loaded.

Thanks..

or you could not use lootshare lol. just fighting with 2 people would greatly reduce the amount of pilage you get, then after 15 mins one of you can hop

I do my waterfiend tasks there, it's notably faster but does take 2 trips

record time they've taken to kill a steel titan is 15 minutes lol.

In my opinion, if people really are thinking of bursting/barraging for charms, then stick to Rock Lobsters.
