IeatWindex
I'd appreciate if anyone could explain what I will need to get the connection, not wireless, seeing as I just bought a 12-month live card and a wireless headset. I'd say my pc is about 10-15 ft. from my 360. My friends said I need a cable, where do I plug it in? This how live thing is a bit confusing the first time around. Edit: Everything has been setup and I've now got a gamertag, Sokless Raam, and I will get my cable as soon as possible, thanks for the help everyone. Thread open to free discussion now I guess. Nero
Take an ethernet cable and plug it into the back of the xbox. And then take the other end of the cable and plug it into an ethernet outlet/jack/whatever. Btw, I feel compelled to warn you that Xbox Live is populated almost entirely by ethugs and little kids. Word of the wise: Never put your headset on max volume. Vienna Raszyn Warsaw Klushino

aquariusman
There's an instruction manual that comes with you Xbox. I suggest reading it, unless you've already done that. It really is just plug and play, unless there are security settings on your connection. Also, your Xbox should have come with what I think is a 10' ethernet cord in the box, unless you have the Arcade version. So a few questions: When did you get your Xbox? What version is it (Arcade/Pro/Elite)? [Alternatively, was it the cheapest available?] Do you have a router? If you don't know what a router is, look at the back of your computer. Find the ethernet cord (Internet wire) and follow it away from the computer. Describe what the wire leads to. Or, ask someone in the house if you have a router. I don't see what's so bad about Xbox Live, you run into better people than you normally would on the Internet :| There's no such thing as regret. A regret means you are unhappy with the person you are now,and if you're unhappy with the person you are, you change yourself. aquariusman
My good year of playing Live agrees though. Also, I usually play the games notorious for having 'high-pitched whining pre-pubescent 13- year olds', like Halo 3. Honestly, on Halo 3, I've met some of the most laid-back people ever. Besides, you must be doing something considered unfair to have people [bleep]ing at you when you win. Either that or you just play against some very competitive people. I don't know, I haven't even played SF4. There's no such thing as regret. Nadril
There is no word such as "unfair" in Street Fighter aqua. :) People just [bleep] when you use a legit strategy (deffensive fireball spamming) and are too stupid to know how to counter something. limpbizkit
A router will have more than one ethernet slot in it ... If you have one plug it in that and find a guide if you cant connect with default settings set on the console. Think the guide you would need to find is about port forwarding .. Not sure. If you have a modem and no router, and if the modem only has 1 open slot to plug in an Ethernet cord, then you'll need to unplug your computer from it in order to have Live on your Xbox. Since you have a Pro, you should already have a 8-10' ethernet cord. Will add more later. There's no such thing as regret. Belzedar
My dad got several 90 ft ethernets from his work. I give them out to friends :) You'll be able to find one, and they are not that expensive. Beware, however, your internet connection can sometimes affect how well you do on fps games such as cod and halo. If I were you, I would have made a free 1-month and tried my internet out. Now I dont know what type of internet you have, but that's just my two cents. Too late, damage is done.
