Okay so I've heard from a few people on one of my other threads that you get automatically logged out if you play for 6 hours straight... can anybody confirm whether this is true or not? Like has it happened to you, or did some Jagex Mod post it on forums or something?

 

 

 

if you just play for 6 hours in a day, logging in and out at different times, will you be automatically logged out, or is it only if you play without loggin out?

 

 

 

also after you are logged out is there a penalty that keeps you from being able to log in for a little bit, if yes then how long?

 

 

 

oh and if it is true that you get auto logged out, what do you think the reason is? Just to keep people from spending too much time on rs, or to try and stop AFKers?

Im fairy sure that there is something that auto logs you after 6 hours, but this is to stop the amount of exp in "24 hours" to become 30 as it doesn't update until you log out. Other than that i dont see there should be one.

Tis' true, it is mostly to try and stop botters, but tbh, it doesn't stop them because the latest high-tech bots have auto-logins, which you can input your details (name, pass, bank pin, etc) and it will auto-login if you get logged out.

I seriously doubt that. That would imply they do this no matter what you are doing. Based off that, I don't think Jagex is stupid enough to let people die in PvP or GWD because of something like that. Remember you stayed logged in for 45 seconds (or maybe it was 30 or 1 minute) after you log out while in combat, so anything is fatal.

but what if I was killing something? Like say I was at Daggy Kings, would it log me out and kill me? That just seems unfair and stupid, especially beause it seems that Jagex doesn't clearly states that this will happen to you, so you could be playing for 6 hours and fighting something with no clue about it and then just be logged out and killed.

-shrug- no idea, i've never been in combat when it has happened to me, and a 6 hour session without logging out isn't something that happens often or anybody is really willing to test. I imagine it would wait until you're no longer in combat if it does, but i can't say.

I'm fairly certain it will log you out, along with your character in game, so you won't lose anything. But anyways, yes you are logged out after 6 hours of non-stop 'scaping. It's happened to a few people I know.

No, it's been in the game as long as i can remember. At least since shortly after rs2 was released. No idea about classic. It doesnt happen often because people tend to log out once in a while for a break or toilet or whatever, or lag out, etc

Sure it logs you out regardless of what you're doing? I'd a few long runs in my Runescape career and I don't recall getting a boot in the middle. Many occasions where the damn game would log me off earlier, but not particularly after 6 hours. It sounds a bit illogical, at least nowadays, with the 5-minute AFK timer.

It happened to me after I was logged in for 7 hours straight.. Could've been 6 hours. But it does happen. House party with open gilded altar ;)

I remember I was playing for a very long time and I randomly logged out, however I can't say if it was a Jagex feature that caused it.

Like someone said before, I just left it on. If you do it right, you can even cook dinner without getting logged :P Anyways, it's not something I usually do.

Happened to me today while I was WCing. Not really a bother since I was paying enough attention I have trained myself to type in my password and slam enter before I even notice (has caused me troubles before since my gmail ID is very similar). And I know it was not the timer log out since I had just clicked a new tree 30 seconds before.
