Video Arcades

Does anyone even go to those places anymore? Lots of shopping malls here have them, and I tend to visit there whenever I go to the said malls.

I dislike racing games, can't ever pass those. Much better at shooting games though.

So, anyone still go there anyway? Most people prefer staying at home and bashing hordes of bosses to oblivion(you know what I mean), or in any case, they use the computer or other gaming consoles which to some extent, have some arcade games available. But it doesn't beat the feeling of being in a real arcade. What do you guys think? ::'

Arcades can be a lot of fun. I rarely go to them anymore though, unless I'm at the mall with the family and me and my younger brother split off and go hang at the arcade for a little.

Really though I would go more often if they wern't so expensive. I remember hanging out at the arcade all the time when I was in middle school. :P

No, I never really did.

And when I did I (the Timeout at McD's :P) just played air hockey over and over vs people (I'm the man at it :P) so never actually played the video games.

Yeah I know. Where I am most arcades are next to movie theaters, which jack up the price of the games a lot. The fun games like Time Crisis cost like a dollar per...

A month or two again I was in an arcade hall, that was years aga that I went there. I was with friends, we first went to dinner and then went strolling trough the city, we ended up in the arcade hall. We played the games we used to play. :P Time Crisis, some fighting game and a water scooter race (which was my favourite, a year or ten ago), and air hockey of course. It was fun when we were there, but I wouldn't visit on a regular base or something. It was more for nostalghia than something else.

Well, I went to DisneyQuest or something(forgot what it was called) a few years back. I guess that fits under the definition of an arcade. xD But it wasn't as fun as I thought it would. The virtual rollercoaster was fun, though. <3:

I've been to Dave&Busters, as well.

Haven't been to any arcades in forever, though.

And like people said, arcades by movie theatres have jacked up prices.

Well, I remember there was this one arcade inside this huge FYE in the mall near my house. In elementary school I had every single one of my birthday parties there

And as a matter of fact when I was visiting Florida over the summer I went and hung out for a good 30 minutes there, playing ski ball over and over for tickets. I bought fun dip with my tickets, but I didn't eat the sugar with the stick, I just chugged it, 'cause that's how all the cool kids do it 8-)

I go to this place about once a year, it's the biggest arcade near Toronto. It's called Dave and Busters, some people might have heard of it. It's amazing, but a little too costly to go to regularly. I can actually win some good prizes there since I rape at the laser-rifle aiming game.

They don't have these places in England unless it's at a bowling alley/service station. OR BLACKPOOL!

Yeah Blackpool... Memories man.

I love arcades but your pounds just go fast.

^ Blackpool ftw, me and my brother used to play The Simpsons game all the time in Mr Bs. As you said though the pounds go fast and you could have bought a 360 game by the end of it so I don't use them.

It's tough at the top ;)

There's a DDR machine in Blackpool that lets you have 9 songs for a pound instead of 3. =P~

I went to the Namco station at the Trafford Center twice in a row and manage to burn up about £20 there (a lot for me) on DDR, drinks to stop me dying from DDR and drop machines. I love arcades since I'm forced to live in one for a week once a year when we go to Pontins on holiday. I know pretty much every machine at the Prestatyn Pontins and a lot of them at the Southport one :P I just really enjoy arcades, it's a shame nearly none of them have 2p drop machines anymore only 10p ones :( .

Manchester is the closest place to me really for arcades, shame because I'd spend a lot of time in them if they had one nearer.

I live in a town with a beach so there's a few arcades (5 i think), I don't go very often though.

We still have 2p drop machines in the biggest arcade here =P~

Niiiiiice. =P~

I suppose if you live there you don't get all touristy and go in the arcades all the time.

Oh those penny dropping games?! Those were awesome!

My mom used to exchange a pound for the money and when she dropped it and got a lot, she was like 'Yay I'm rich!'

Then she'd carry on putting in the pennies till she ran out of them  and then renew another pound.

Can't beat Time Crisis 2 though. That game was the [cabbage].

And it was the only game that I could beat without putting in another pound.

Yeah i think everyone did that with the penny dropping machines

My favourite thing about them was the prizes you sometimes get.. Crappy plastic keyring, anyone? :P

And Time Crisis 2 is the best game you can get in any arcade! I spent over £20 in a day once playing that with my friend.

I beat Time Crisis 2 and 4 with my brother. Really not that hard if you've got 2.

I hate those stacking games. They look so easy, but I swear, they make the little block slip at the VERY LAST ONE. The prizes are awsum, like Ps3s, DS lites, PSPs, handphones. Kudos to the makers of this cash eater. :wall:

Haha, sometimes they had watches in there but they were right at the top were it was very unlikely to fall.

You can NEVER win on that game. It's practically impossible.

I think my brother is living proof of that  Spent all his cash on it.

I like driving games though, haha, I suppose it's cause you can't do that sort of stuff with a real car.

Mmm, stimulation.

I think my favorite part about the arcade was when you'd get a stubborn kid with a lot of money. I remember playing like Mortal Kombat (or some fighting game) and this kid would challenge me over and over. Of course he wasn't very good so he kept losing, but he ended up giving me like 10 free plays.

I've had some fun in the larger arcades over the years. Too bad they all pretty much suck now.

^ Ahh the Hori fighting stick, good memories with that.

I used to spend ages playing Street Fighter and Tekken on them though I was the one always putting in money...
