March 29, 200917 yr 100 hours of community service? That seems downright ridiculous. If this bill gets signed, and I seriously hope it doesn't, I'll think twice about going to UC Berkeley. :?

March 29, 200917 yr I wouldn't even care if I was getting paid for it. The government shouldn't be able to force you to do work, no matter what the salary, no matter what the aim of the work, against your will. (prisoners are a different issue so don't even go there) If this were here in the UK I would probably do it anyway, but that doesn't negate the freedom standpoint. EDIT: Not sure if it is mandatory. If it is, then point stands, if not then it doesn't matter. Hey.

No one should have to fight for a government if they don't want to. You could make a good case for justified totalitarianism in the times of WW2, but we aren't in those times now. (and even if we were, its only a good case. You could also make a good case for the government not having the power to force you to fight for them) This whole "civilian security force" thing just seems a bit disturbing Hey.

March 29, 200917 yr For the last time, nothing is mandatory. It is all voluntary. The topic title really should be changed since it is just a fear mongering statement.
March 30, 200917 yr christ most of you are too dumb to go to college so it's not like it will even affect you. So if it doesn't affect us then we shouldn't be able to voice our opinions?
March 30, 200917 yr This is why Liberals make me want to vomit.. You better start running before Magekillr decides to hit up this thread again. :?
