Computer assembly help!

I am fixing to order parts, my mom/dad are afraid that they are not going to fit properly. Could comeone please take a look at the parts and tell me if are all going to fit together. (I also know the CPU comes with a fan/heatsink but I am unsure of the quality, could someone tell me about that too?)

Graphics card links? I'm somehow doubtful you intend to use a second mobo as a graphics card. ;)

Other than that it looks fine, I'm not an expert at this though. You may want to get a more powerful PSU, depending what graphics card you want. A lot of the newer higher spec cards need a lot of power to work properly., so it might be a good idea to get a different case and say, a 500-600W one just to be sure.

In all honesty, you seem like you don't know what you're doing so I would suggest not building it yourself, but getting a friend or paying someone to do it.

Oh yeah, like Dracion said, a 2nd mobo won't work very well as a GFX card, lol.

Good luck with the psu.

Get a better one.

And you don't need a harddrive and an optical drive?

Cheap cpu cooler also get a arctic silver 5 if you're going with an aftermarket cooler.

And pay someone to build it if you're unsure about putting it together.

I taking the cd/dvd drive and my HDD from my current computer and the cpu comes with a heatsink.

I also only have around $375 dollars to work with.

OldJoe, does that Heatsink and cooler support AM2+? It didn't directly say that in the spec's.

Yes it supports am2+.

I made some changes in your list to save some money:

CM Elite 330 - mid tower - 40$

Foxconn A7VMX-K AM2+ mATX - 55$

EVGA GeForce 9600 GSO 512MB - 80$

AMD Phenom 9600 2.3GHz - 85$

G.SKILL 4GB pc6400 - 40$

If you choose the cooler i said (low noise is nice), you have about 50$ for a psu.

Enermax Tomahawk 405W - 45$ (really, your psu might survive a while, but i wouldn't trust it)

=365$

with rebate=345$

thank you ::' Is it true the AMD x4 dosen't function right? It supposedly has some bug and had trouble with vista x64

Works perfectly with Vista 64 bit.

And if you mean the TLB-bug, it was something that AMD found in their lab and almost no users were affected by it. This bug was corrected in later steppings of the Phenom cpu's last year. And in fact, both Core2 and i7 also got this bug - but it's not something to worry about. I also want to point out, that Phenom from the beginning was engineered for 45nm - thus lower performance than expected.

There can be alot of different explanations for why it isn't working for person x. But there has not been any news on hardware sites that adress this.

The 9600 does have the TLB bug, yes, but AMD hasn't heard of anyone outside their lab having trouble with it (checked archive news just now at a hardware site).

If you don't want it, and to keep in your price range:

AMD Athlon 64 X2 7750, 2.7ghz - 65$

AMD Phenom 8650 (x3) 2.3GHz - 83$

Yes.

As i said earlier, (since you seem a bit unsure but wanting to build) you can always pay a company to build it.

Edit: Didn't read your question carefully enough. It is a quad = 4 cores at 2.3ghz each. It is one cpu with 4 cores.

If I really get confused, I can go to my neighbour Mike, he owns a computer store and will hopefully do it for a beer or something.

I am also just trying to cover my bases because this is (obviously) my first build and I want to get it right. :)

Sounds good! Beer and a pizza =)

Any more questions, just ask. Good luck.

Its like a big set of lego and about 90% of the connections will only go into the right connection.

If you read a few online articles, read the motherboard manual and any other manuals which came with the parts you should be fine.

I find the hardest bit of building computers troubleshooting when something goes wrong.

Good luck.

Or dealing with push-pins. God damn i hate them. It took about 10min until my cpu cooler stayed on lol. In this aspect, AMD's solution outclasses Intels by miles.

And as you say, it's not hard if you follow guides correctly. I think there are several videos on youtube dealing with each part, so shouldn't be a problem.

Anyways a good article - http://www.nordichardware.com/Guides/?skrivelse=432

Thanks so much for your help! I ended up ordering a new psu, the same case the x4 CPU that was the $85 dollar one the blue jetway MOBO, 4Gb of ram and a e-GeForce 9600 GT superclock Ed. I thi9nk that was all. Everything but the case and PSU will be here tomorrow (in NC) because they are being chipped form TN and the case and PSU are coming from CALI so who knows when.. How are the APEVIA and EVGA rebate?

Ah, if you chose my psu, i had combined the psu and mobo that i picked. Because that mobo used just a 4pin atx connector, the Jetway is 8pin. I suggest you either return the psu (if you want help choosing a new one - np) or buy one of these - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6812201005

I had noticed the 8 pin thing a while ago. I couldn't tell from the picture weather or not the connector was an 8-pin or a 4-pin so i called up tech support for the PSU. The guy said the psu has a standard 4-pin connector that can be attached to a 2nd 4-pin connector also on that PSU to form the 8-pin connection needed. ;) Everything except the case and PSU should be here today! I checked the UPS thing and the stuff is in Greensboro. Unfortunately the case and psu have not even left Cali.

If for what ever reason it doesn't have the 8-pin I will order the 4-pin connector because my Mom wouldn't be happy if I had to return it because I didn't check the connectors.

I got every part today and put it together perfectly! Everything runs great, I only had 2 problems, one of the small relectors was disconnected and connecting the Power Button cable and ect was a pain. Otherwise its great. I am doing waaaay more than I used to at 23% CPU used =D The nice blue lights are cool, just if you get the MOBO ever be sure to change the boot setup.. it starts with the input device (usb stick and such) then hard drive then CD.. realized that the hard way.
