Do you think other life forms besides humans are aware that they are living/ going to die? Do they control their actions or just act purely on instinct? Do they realize that they are making decisions (even subconsciously)? I think bacteria just lives to reproduce, there isn't much going on there. What about dogs and cats? Or even monkeys? When a monkey looks in the mirror it realizes that it's there but a dog doesn't. Also depending on how you look at it, one could argue that humans act on their instincts only. A lot of big questions, so discuss. P.S. I recommend you all add AngryJoe to your ignore list, as he's a sad 12 year old looking for attention.
March 29, 200917 yr I do believe they are. my cats respond to eachother, and respond to us, realize when something is wrong, realize when we're gone, and get up and wait for us when we're usually back. at my dad's house the cats seem to know whenever he gets home, and they always get up and go wait by the door when he's ten minutes from being home. I do believe the more intelligent animals react, and are aware of what's going on around them, and know what's happening. the less intelligent ones are just stupid, and you can tell they're stupid. March 29, 200917 yr I doubt it, at least for the less intelligent life forms. Maybe they're capable of being aware, but they just don't pay heed to it. More advanced animals such as primates, I bet they might, but then again I know nothing about this stuff.

Just because something is not acceptable in our society doesn't mean it's all that wrong. Dog tend to not process their food very well, so by eating their own scat they're getting extra nutritions.

Because they aren't depending on the way you define intelligence.... :wall: Other animals just don't have even close to our type of intelligence basically There is no big difference between the human population, there is very little genetic variability in humans compared to a lot of other animals, so there is really no such thing as 'races' that are very different, just slightly different features. We can build structures such as pyramids, we can communicate more freely with things such as the internet, we can invent things such as the light bulb, we can organize complicated systems such as governments, we can have abstract discussions such as debating how intelligent animals are.
