Wongtong
I dunno, but I've heard that there's this one monkey that have learnt to floss their teeth with human hair and teach their monkey babies to do the same. Oh and my mum says that my dead cat used to wait for me and my sister to come home from school (while he was still alive) by just sitting there in the driveway and staring out at the road. I was quite little so I don't really remember but I think it's true, therefore I think that animals are complex enough to have feelings. I'm not sure about intelligence though. :| 8,180WONGTONG IS THE BEST AND IS MORE SUPERIOR THAN ME#1 Wongtong stalker.Im looking for some No Limit soldiers! AceBeam
My Maine Coon cat Angus is incredibly smart. He knows how to open doors, he knows how to choke dogs, he knows lots. I saw him choking my other pets a few times. He just grips there neck hard and bites down. The dogs then start to cough, gurgle, and thrash around. Thank god he knows when to stop, or we'd have a few dead dogs. Angus fights sort of like a tarantula. Cats can be pretty freakin smart. Oh yeah, and I've thought of taking babies and throwing them. eias
They have instincts, and maybe some intelligence,or perhaps it's better be called memory for them, for example, when i show my outer door key of my house to my cat,she goes to that door, maybe because it happened many times. i_love_burritos
Definitly, OF COURSE. These animals have adapted behavioural and physical appendages that allow them to interact with themselves, the environment and other species. They enforce these rather intelligently and in my opinion, plants are intelligent. Its just based on your definintion of "intelligence". However you trolls may argue that these are nothing but biological, evolutionary changes. True. Animals respond and adapt to their environment- they learn, as AceBeam and Wongtong have demonstrated. WHAT HAVE YOU DONE -- try it now, make a longer neck. THATS RIGHT -- YOU CANT. Friggin' Lamarckian imbeciles. evolutionary biologists and "intelligent" people will get me. mmmcannibalism
reality television Im sure most of the higher order animals are intelligent to an extent, the main difference with humans is that weve have shown development beyond just the use of tools. Orthodoxy is unconciousnessthe only ones who should kill are those who are prepared to be killed.
Deiophobus
Maybe some of the smartest like monkeys, orangutans, gorillas and the like can understand and memorize some things, but not even close to the level of humans. Our intelligence is unparalleled by any living being found on this planet. I have to call your opinion biased. "Were white so we are unparalleled by any other skin color." That's an awful comparison, it's a scientific fact that we are the most intelligent species on the planet (that's know, at least). That said, I don't think animals are completely going on instinct. I know my dog learns to do things very quickly, or how to get past certain problems.
Star.
Aren't ant colonies really smart? I think I saw something on it on Discovery Channel ages ago, mmm, I'll google it. ☢ CAUTION ☢ CAUTION ☢ CAUTION ☢ CAUTION ☢
kamireborn1
Some animals are idiots. Some aniamls are quite intelligent. Even within breeds/species, some organisms are smarter. For exmaple- one of my dogs is deaf yet she can sit, lie down, and "sit pretty" among a few other little tricks. My other dog, he can sit. No matter how hard you try to teach him to "lay" he will just not do it, nor can you get him to respond to his name.. They've had the same training, since they were puppies and are both Jack Russells.. I work with horses, and you would be surprised what you can teach a horse can do. You can make them do viturally anything- bow, rear on command, smile, shake their head "yes or no", count with their hooves, and I've even seen a video of a horse "fetching" a stick.. Among several other basic and complex tricks.. Not to mention teaching them how to carry a rider- it's not just how you see in the movies where the person hops on, kicks, and after the bandit they go. I believe some animals are intelligent, and some are not. Also each organism has it's own intelligence level- just like humans. But you have to give animals credit- they have found a way to communicate with each other, find food, shelter and flourish.. Just as us humans have. Robert_de_Sable
No, they are not. Certainly not compared to humans. To me, animals exist for only one reason: For us to do what we will with them. [English translation needed]
Clay_More12
Its same as Humans really, some animals are intelligent some aren't and thats for Humans aswell, then you got animals with talents like a Cheetah with its insane speed, but the you got Usain Bolt [Worlds fastest man] Divine Forces | #DF on irc.seersirc.net | Most Motivated | http://rs-df.com/forums
Dizzle229
Hmmm, I think cats are mostly on instinct, but have some level of basic emotion. Ex. My cat was really the center of attention in my house, but when we started babysitting my cousins baby, he kind of needs alot of that attention. Now my cat is jealous of him. Not sure yet though if it's jealousy or if she just feels he's in her territory, though she doesn't get pissed off with anyone else, and he's the only one to take some petting time from her. And it's sorta been proven that primates are intelligent (they're able to use tools to help themselves, like skewering a bug on a stick, stuff like that. Get back here so I can rub your butt. Laura
Some animals are by far more intelligent than some of the people here. But anyways, I guess it's what you define as "intelligent," as I've seen dolphins communicate to humans by underwater buttons which light up. Vegetables are more intelligent than their human vegetables. Probably better tasting too. I wouldn't know, but I do know a guy who runs a Delicatessen and uses his tennants for meat.
