I've never smoked, so I don't know any real advice about it. Have you tried the patch?

Just know that I'd be really proud of you if you gave up smoking. :D

Everybody hug and spread the love :D

Just dont do it! I know it sounds hard but thats how i give up things im addicted too (Not drugs or anything, just things i do that are addicting to me).

If you feel that you can live without it, then usaly you dont do it.

My science teacher told me last year what made him not smoke, maybe you should too. Got to some science/hosptial kind of place and get them to show you the lungs and brains and hears and livers and the bodies of the dead people who smoked, that maybe a turn off.

Just my thought of the only way...

Yea like lionheart said... its not a nessecity... just stop throw em all away and tell your family! your fam can help yeh quit...

I will never smoke.

I'm not a smoker, and don'tt hink I'll ever be, but I'm pretty sure it isn't that easy to quit smoking. Cigaretteres are mentally and physically addicting so.. well I don't know what to say I'm not some expert on the subject and I won't give any advice if I don't know what I'm talking about.

im in exactly the same postion that ur in now

was just making my mum sad whenever i went for a ciggy and descided to quit on money. you dont need anything. my school counciler gave me a book like 5 months ago to try to get me to quit. it said that when you have your last ciggeret inhalke deeply and taste how bad it tastes and be thankfull that when u wake up the next day you wont be a slave to it anymore. have a ciggeret before u go to sleep and when u wake up just say to yourself "im a non-smoker" and throw all of them away and just dont smoke at all. dont go neer friends that are smoking coz that makes it harder. and dont worry about eating, indluge in your food

the craving go away after about 3-4 days so just hold on that long and youll be cruising, i dont 2 days now

do something to get your mind off it aswell (pot  ) not that i would ever do that

edit: most important- DONT HAVE ANY AT YOUR HOUSE OR ANYWHERE NEER YOU ive been searching my room every hour for one but when i cant find it i just sit back down. dont give up giving up

I belive in something such as addiction to anything, only you can help yourself, no one else. This is a battle agaisnt yourself.

just dont do it cuz no matter what we say it won't help you. It's all up to you. If you wanna try those niggorate stuff, try it. But i believe its possible to quit without. Get someone to slap you if you try to smoke one, or get friends and others to throw away any that you buy. Check the statistics and pictures. Let it scare you! its what you need. Just be determined and once you quit stay away from smokers if possible, resist and avoid it.

There are various methods and techniques used to help you give up. I would recommend using a proffessional helpline since they are experts in it. We're mostly guessing. Different techniques for different people. Personally i would recommend this. Throw them away, in a big bin where you can't get them back. Find some pictures of blackened lungs and look at them every time you want a smoke. Think about it, do you really like smoking? or are you just doing it because you think you'll like it, and you crave it. Think about the money your spending on it, save it, or spend it on something nice.

Think about the damage you're doing to yourself, inhaling SMOKE, if you continue smoking you might well develop lung cancer or other cancers later in life, and have to go through chemo, and put your family and friends through knowing that you might not survive. Every time you put a cigarrette in your mouth and light it up, you take time off your life, you are slowly killing yourself. So just give up, now, and never smoke again.

CHANGES THAT OCCUR WITHIN 20 MINUTES OF LAST CIGARETTE:

Blood pressure and pulse rate begin to return to normal.

Circulation to hands and feet improves.

Fibers in the bronchial tubes (cilia) begin to move again, removing irritants and bacteria from the lungs.

Body's overall energy level increases.

3 - 5 years:

Risk of dying of a heart attack decreases to that of a nonsmoker.

Actually it is. I used to smoke for a year, then I decided it was pretty pointless and just quit. You just have to really want to quit. If you want to bad enough you will. Simple as that.

This is the way the world ends. Look at this [bleep]ing shit we're in man. Not with a bang, but with a whimper. And with a whimper, I'm splitting, Jack.

Having never have been a smoker, I have really no idea how difficult it is. To those who are saying it's not that hard though, do realise that some people have addictive personalities and will be addicted to something easier than others. However, I've tried helping others quit smoking and these are some tips that they have said helped them:

Cut down on smoking if you really must, and set a quit date. On that date throw out all smoking paraphernalia including ask trays, lighters, and especially cigarettes. I would advise not smoking other things such as pot either, they don't get rid of the cigarette cravings.

When you set your date stock up on little candies, sunflower seeds (something in sunflower seeds mimics that of nicotine and apparently helps cravings), gum, etc. Whenever you have a craving just put something else in your mouth. Don't use real food to rid yourself of cravings though because that can lead to unhealthy eating habits making you fat or otherwise. Also drink a glass of water when you have cravings.

Remember that if you go through a week without a cigarette, then you're a week ahead of when you weren't smoking. That means if you slip and smoke just once (you say just once, but it wont be) then you have to start over on that week of suffering or whatever you want to call it.

Since you haven't smoked incredibly long it should be easier than quitting after smoking for 40 years. Just let it absorb what they are doing to you, and how those little things are taking over your life in a way. I am one who must be in control so I know this would bother me if I smoked.

Hope those help, good luck.

It's probably going to be too hard to quit when you're depressed. I'd say you should get undepressed first and then quit smoking. But that's obviously very hard. I'm depressed too, but instead of smoking I just eat a lot. :/ It really sucks because you just want to eat for some weird reason. I've tried stop eating so unhealthy and start eating more fruit and more vegetables but it won't work because you don't fight depression so easily so I keep going back to unhealthy food >_> you just can't find the strength if you're depressed.

I hope it works out either way. Just try to minimize smoking where you can, or maybe you should seek professional help. I'm seeing this psychiatrist and I feel pretty optimistic about it.

I dont smoke so I dont know what its like. Just fight the craving I would immagine or eat something you really really like instead of having a cigarette. Try patches?

And no lol why do you always want to get stuff from John Lewis. Its over ̣̉300 more then than what i paid.

John Lewis is a great, great shop.

My friend recently gave up, not by quitting altogether straight away, but by cutting how many he smokes by half every few days. by the time he was down to about 3 a day, he'd just stopped caring about them altogether. Maybe your willpower isnt as good as his, but it's worth a try.

I used to smoke, but quit about six months ago. I just threw the cigarettes away and tried as hard as I could not to think about the cravings. It's hard at first, but, I guarantee you, it gets easier. I asked my friends to help me take my mind off the cravings and they really did help out. But, for some people, quitting cold turkey just makes it worse. A friend of mine tried the gum and it really worked for him. So, if you can't just stop, then, try the gum or the patch. Best of luck to you!
