Makoto_the_Phoenix
100K experience a day. That's one helluva pipedream. I've seen (and experienced) that the median experience for Slayer is about 20K experience an hour, and that's if you get five good tasks in a row. Get a slow task (Irons or Gargoyles) or a bad task (Mutated Terrorbirds, Kurask, Scabarites, or Steel Dragons), and that average dips easily below 8K. Oh, not to mention, you'll have to do what's required of yourself in the span of a day (personal hygiene, food, homework, job, social life, etc), so rare is the person willing to spend five hours to get 100K experience in an entire day. No matter how efficiently you train, no matter your stats, you'll always be limited by the chance you'll get stuck with a really crappy task in the end, in which stats aren't as effective and rate of experience falls like a rock. To cannon aficionados: Yes, you can cannon tasks, and they really speed things up [read]. But not everything is cannonable, and some of the best tasks are either inefficient or not feasible to cannon. I use one in my training, so I know its quirks. It used to be hard. Try getting 85 before masks, barrow gloves, defenders, and when whips cost too much to buy and you sought out getting one on your own. It meant something back then, when the whip was the ultimate prize. Now its a boring drudgery thats like twice as fast and a fraction of the accomplishment that it used to be. Slayer is dead, just another nerfed skill with an ughly emote cape... When I was a boy, we didn't get to ride the bus to school, no! We had to walk! Ten miles! Uphill! In the snow! And then we had to walk back home! Ten miles! Uphill! In the snow! Those were the days! Best reply ever. Ironically it was just what I was thinking. :D Linux User/Enthusiast | Full-Stack Software Engineer | Stack Overflow Member | GIMP User...Alright, the Elf City update lured me back to RS over a year ago. Star_Fox
it was definitely challenging for me. now that today, you have those little goodies that help you with slayer in any way possible, its not as difficult as it was anymore.
The_Great_One
Slayer is pretty easy due to how fun it is, it just takes a while. It's liek the best skill ever. Unfortunetely, I made the mistake of dreaming of 85 slayer. I skip abby demons. I hate them so much. ydrasil
Oh really? So you get tasks every single time that give 33k exp an hour? Fascinating. Because I have 98 Slayer and I have NEVER achieved 100k slayer exp in 3 hours unless I used penguins points, and those don't count. I said it takes a bit over 3 hours, which is just under 33k Slayer experience an hour. My average is about 30.8k Slayer experience per (without banking times added in yet). Yes I do have higher stats than the average player, but the point is that it is possible (and higher than mine even). Of all the tasks I do ranging from the slowest (Mithril Dragons) up to the fastest (Dagannoths), that is the average I get. Not every task will get me this of course, it is quite possible for me to get only about 9.4k Slayer experience an hour (all Mithril Dragons) up to approximately 70k. Overall as an average is what is important. Note I said EVERY TIME, bruno. I know you think you're being really sharp, but in fact you seem to have lost a little of your edge. lol. If you can get 3 mutated bloodveld tasks in a row, then yes, perhaps 100k is obtainable, but since this rarely to never happens, you can't say that 100k exp per 3 hours is how fast you train slayer. On average for tasks you'll get 20k exp an hour. That may be your rate, but that will not be the rate for everyone else. The same applies to my own rate. I was just simply stating a fact that is is possible to get that much experience as an average in a little over 3 hours. I wasn't intending to start an argument, just stating a fact. Also just to point out, Slayer is the slowest skill in the game on its own. Every other skill is capable of getting more per hour than Slayer. However Slayer has the advantage of it training other skills so overall it is a very high experience per hour. Ignoring that for the moment, the maximum average experience per hour you can get is just over 30k (maybe up to 35k with max stats and absolute highest efficiency). The next slowest would be Runecrafting with the Ourania altar, which exceeds what Slayer can get. Even though the bulk of players will not utilise this all the way to 99. The point is that in comparing max experience per hour obtainable, Slayer is the slowest on a single skill basis. However it gets a huge amount of overall experience per hour. Just thought I should add that :
xSxqPowerx
Sure, if you want to look that it that way. But when you look at other skills where, spending the same amount of time, you will get 1 mil exp per day...
Ollyc3
If you've got money its not hard or slow at all, I usually pull 100k in 2-3 hours with piety and a few cannon tasks though given I'm 99 combats and burn Slayer points for tasks sometimes. 2376/2376 total achieved - May 2009 Retired Dec 2009
Jowah
I get about 30k slayer exp a day at max, if I do slayer all the way to 99 defense I would still be 700k exp away from 85 which is still another 23 days. It IS that hard. 99 fletching achieved 09/04/08 99 defence achieved 08/31/09 99 smithing achieved 07/25/1099 attack achieved 03/11/10 99 constitution achieved 05/14/1199 strength achieved 06/01/11 99 cooking achieved 01/17/1299 woodcutting achieved 05/10/12 99 firemaking achieved 05/10/
Azzator
Couldn't resist posting... Upon the way to 99 slayer I did an average of 90k slayer xp a day, usually around 15k xp an hour. If you do not use a cannon - like me - that means you are getting 60k melee xp an hour. That's quite a lot in my opinion, but then again I only ever trained combat with slayer. Getting to roughly 3.3m xp for 85 slayer with 15k xp an hour, meaning 220 hours of casual slayer, can be considdered hard. Now of course you can always go hardcore and start cannoning everything, but then you can say goodbye to your profit and from my point of view to the fun in the skill. ~ Opinions mean immunity for beeing told you're wrong ~
Zierro
Slayer isn't as repetitive as most skills plus there is the excitement of getting drops and combat levels. Time flies when you're having fun.
Natedoggygog
or a bad task (Mutated Terrorbirds, Kurask, Scabarites, or Steel Dragons) Sorry, I just had to say this, Mutated Terrorbirds are actually one of the best tasks out there. An average of 300k-400k loot per task along with about 20k-25k xp a hour there. Oh, and 85 slayer is hard....if you're watching your xp. : Nate's Big Blog4,000th to 99 crafting, 33,340th to 99 defence, 3,867th to 99 farming, 55,293rd to 99 hitpoints
