Okay, so i'm soon to buy a new labtop and I wanted to know if the ones i'm looking at will meet my needs for Runescape and other games, and other things like movies, music, school, etc.

Any feedback is much appreciated, I would like to know which you think is the best for my needs of the 3, And I really don't want to spend more than $1k. If it is possible give a rating and comments on each with pros and cons,

The first one (HP Pavilion) looks best, especially because you can double your amount of RAM if you start 3D/Fractal rendering. Graphics card looks good too, though, what games are you planning to run on it?

I concur but the resolution of all of those ids horrible.

Runescape, Cod, halo etc.

Resolution is the number of pixels eg 1024 by 1280 is 1024 pixels by 1280 pixels.

 

The more pixels the better it will look.

Thanks for the info and suggestion, I think i'm sticking with hp and a 16"+ screen though.

A 16 inch or larger laptop will weight a lot, hard to carry (due to there shape and size) and most likely end up being used as a desktop replacement.

 

I would advise you go into the store to pick on up and just walk a few yards with it.

Good idea, But im definately going for a bigger screen, small screens are annoying imo

A smaller screen with near equal resolution or dpi has little difference compared to larger screens. In fact, a smaller screen with equal resolution and aspect ratio would probably look better, especially if you want to play Runescape.

no, smaller resolutions make multitasking harder. you're concerned with having more space to place windows, and the amount of space you get is determined by resolution.

Actually, when it comes to laptops, the Hp ones tend to heat a little too much.

 

 

 

Right now the best laptop brand seems to be Asus.

all HP products seem to have a heat issue...even my desktop computer have a heat issue... But when you compare it to the other brands, you always get the best specs for the same price from HP

If you have heating problems on your HP desktop, there's chances it's too clogged up with dust. I have upgraded quite a lot my HP computer, I even put a 9800GT instead of the 7300LE that was in there and I have no heating issues.

There's just been a battery recall on 70,000 HP batteries. My dv6000 is one of them. :thumbdown: Though it only hold a 10-15 minute charge so I welcome a new battery. Not that I use that laptop anymore, though.

Higher resolution > larger screen. People tend to sit closer to notebook computers than they do desktops. I know that for 90% of my non-commercial use, its sitting on my knees.

 

 

 

I've had noticeable heat problems with HP and Toshiba laptops, but I don't know of anyone else who has with HP That being said, I still prefer Toshiba laptops over anything else out there.

I would recommend staying away from larger screens. They just become they're a pain because they are so HUGE and take up so much more space then say like a 14" when trying to carry it around in your backpack. I have a 15" MBP and sometimes that starts to become a pain to carry around because of its size. If Apple had like a 13.3" MBP I would be in heaven because then I could just get a 22"+ monitor and just hook my MBP up to that whenever I'm at my home desk.

Actually, I think 15.4 in is the right size for a laptop screen, still 1440x900 as resolution and a good screen size, while still greatly portable. My 17in screen laptop seems to big to carry sometimes. And I have to carry it a lot for college.
