Where you may have dropped a few, I doubt you have dropped anywhere near 50. I have gotten 27 at 18M wc xp + kingdom been going for months, and I have gotten more than any one else I know (that isnt exaggerating.)

 

I nolifed tormented demons for like a week, and the random seed drops gave me spirit seeds a lot.

 

Maybe a little high, probably closer to 25-30.

I'm not sure what the probability of getting a bird's nest from a tree is. I got many of them while cutting oaks, so I'll say 1 in 100 for simplicity.

 

 

 

I do have pretty concrete data though after opening thousands of bird nests from my kingdom. Of all non-empty nests, approximately 65% are tree seeds, 32% are rings, and 3% are eggs.

 

 

 

Of all my seed nests, 1.72% have given me a spirit seed.

 

 

 

So your probability of that happening was (hopefully you're familiar with dimensional analysis):

 

 

 

(8 logs)(1 nest/100 logs)(.65 seed nests/1 nest)(.0172 spirit seeds/1 seed nest)(100%) = .08944%

 

 

 

This roughly equates to a 1 in 1118 chance of that happening.

 

 

 

However, I'd like to encourage you to take it as the piece of luck it was and not as bragging rights - after all, 8 logs is not a whole lot, many people have multiple spirit seeds, and even you had no idea it was going to happen.

 

 

 

Hopefully you are encouraged to get 83 farming now. :)

I find it's kind of typical of the RS community at large. You know, treating others opinions like they are meaningless or "wrong", having a sook when things don't go how they hope they would.

I will say congratulations since I still don't have one and would really like one lol.

I logged into rs, killed a Tormented Demon, got a plate shard, killed another, and got a plate lump. The chances of this occuring are about 1/90,000. However, partly because it's still only around 5m worth of drops, I felt it was not significant for posting a thread (and also because it didn't really require any work on my own part). Rating luck gets pretty iffy, and I personally don't feel anybody cares to rate another person's luck.

You say it's rare because you only cut 6-8 logs. That's only a very small part of the whole, that's like cutting saying it's rare because you got it on the 1st log of a new inventory while training woodcutting. Since overall you have cut more than 6 logs to get that seed.

 

 

 

Oh and the seed isn't that rare to get and you can't plant it so I really don't see why you're so excited.

I got a spirit seed after less than an invent of willows. As far as I can see it's not that rare. I used to cut with Jetys when he was at world 24 and he said he'd get one every 10k willows atleast.

Achievement? No.

 

Post worthy? NO

 

Rare seed? nah.

 

Odds of seed are about 1/60 to 1/80 and the fact that you got it within a few logs/while not really woodcutting etc doesn't change it.
