Yeah, project natal looks awesome, but, erm...

Milo Isnt Real?

Everyone that watched the Microsoft Press Conference last night couldnt help but be impressed with the Milo demo from Peter Molyneux and the Lionhead team. Despite only having the dev kit for a small while, it appeared that Milo, a brave new venture in AI, really was as smart as he looked with quick responses and a genuine feeling of next-generation technology.

However, a few journalists got change to demo Milo later last night, including Kotaku, who, whilst impressed overall with the tech, said that there was a little awkwardness when Milo had said each section, implying that the demo was partially being manipulated by a developer who was sitting nearby.

Naturally, nobody really expected everything that Milo was doing to be realtime and generated by a single Xbox 360. Yes it could handle the graphics, yes the motion tracking was sublime and the ability to pick up the colour of the Kotaku reporters shirt was impressive, but as the website says, I couldnt tell if [the developer] was merely calibrating the game or how much he was pulling its strings.

So don't let anyone tell you you're not worth the earth,

These streets are your streets, this turf is your turf,

Don't let anyone tell you that you've got to give in,

Cos you can make a difference, you can change everything,

Just let your dreams be your pilot, your imagination your fuel,

Tear up the book and write your own damn rules,

Use all that heart, hope and soul that you've got,

And the love and the rage that you feel in your gut,

And realise that the other world that you're always looking for,

Lies right here in front of us, just outside this door,

And it's up to you to go out there and paint the canvas,

After all, you were put on the earth to do this,

So shine your light so bright that all can see,

Take pride in being whoever the [bleep] you want to be.

Meh, fine-tuning the software to the hardware I can see it being plausible. I just want to see the technology once again in my life-time, so I'll think it's real, instead of saying no it's not, and having it disappear forever, or a good 30 years.

I also can't see how that it will be used in games.

Nintendo needed something good this year and failed. Again. The only thing interesting me is the Resident Evil rail shooter.

You might not have been interested but they certainly did not fail.

Super Mario Galaxy 2 - If it's anywhere as good as SMG, it'll be awesome. Not to mention it has Yoshi, who MAKES games awesome.

New Metroid - Finally, going back to the platformer Metroidvania-style games. Do you know how long people have been asking for this?

Metroid Prime 1/2/3 Compilation - For those who don't prefer the platformer 2d Metroids

GOLDEN. SUN. DS.

I have been waiting SIX YEARS. And I am not the only one.

And of course there's the new Zelda game coming, the new Pokemon remakes coming (not sure why, but everyone insists G/S/C was the best generation), a Kingdom Hearts game that's already out.

Yeah nintendo's was pretty boring. I heard they showed like no gameplay footage either.

Sony is off to a good start so far. Uncharted 2 and MAG gameplay previews.

Sony's line up so far is rock solid. MAG, running live with 256 players, seattle to san diego, no lag and great graphics.

Simply epic.

I meant The Darkside Chronicles not Extraction. Which in fairness does look decent, though a straight sequel to Dead Space would have been better.

Nintendo's never gonna bother with a proper new IP are they. Just gotta keep milkin' their cash cows.

Yeah, or release minor changes to it i.e the DSi.

The motion controller looks incredible. Actual 1:1 sensing, looks good for fighting games and FPS.

Much better than a small child.

Please. The Microsoft Project Natal had 1:1 tracking and more. Sony's just sort of looked silly.

And if you aren't really amazed by the possibilities from "Milo" than I don't even know. It opens up a lot.

If 'Milo' was live then I'd be imressed. If he responded like he did in the video to the journalists who talked to him afterwards then I would be impressed.

Sony's was completely live, and they showed how it could work in a game.

The motion controls were plenty immersive according to joystiq when they tried it out. Of course Milo's AI won't be that great yet, it's not like we're going to jump ahead 50 years an AI technology or something.

I mean don't get me wrong, what sony showed was miles ahead of what nintendo has, but I just don't think it could stack up with Project Natal.

FF11 was terrible. There's a chance SE has learned from that experience, but I wouldn't get my hopes up. As for FF7... first of all, it's long overdue. Second of all, it's the original game right? Finally, can't you already play it via emulator on older PSP units?

I like FF games, don't get me wrong, but KH 358/2 looks much brighter than any of the SE stuff for Sony. At least, it's already out, and people are playing and loving it.
