runesmithie
So far I've narrowed my choices down to TI-84 Plus SE or TI-86 TI-84 Pros: Memory :D Cons: Price :( Lower number >_> TI-86 Pros: Price :D Bigger number! weezcake
Why not the TI-83 Plus/Silver. Most schools and teachers recommend it. But I guess it really depends what you're using it for. ==================================Retired tip.it moderator.Teaching and inspiring.
runesmithie
Why not the TI-83 Plus/Silver. Most schools and teachers recommend it. But I guess it really depends what you're using it for. It's only $24 cheaper than the 86 and I'm looking for a calculator to last me at least through college so it's a small price to pay per year for the extra memory I just posted something! ^_^ to the terrorist...er... kirbybeam. Lionheart_0
:? since your in grd 11, shouldnt the school give you graphing calcs when you need it (Assuming these are graphing). Just get one of the lower ones that are a good scientific calcs. (Got me one that costed like 19 last year, this year is like 9...) Sig by IkuraiYour Guide to Posting! homer806
the TI 83+ silver edition is the same as the 84+, just it has more memory and comes with more apps. I find that most all calc games are pointless or they don't last near long enough, unless you get one of those color clacs like the TI 94 or somthing thats like a figgin mini computer. anyway, i would just go with the TI 84+
PDJ
pretty sure the regulations on all CollegeBoard test are: Calculators NOT permitted: * pocket organizer * hand-held or laptop computer * electronic writing pad or pen input device * calculator with a QWERTY (typewriter-like) keypad * calculator with paper tape * calculator that makes noises or "talks" * calculator that requires an outlet which I think pretty much means all TI graphic calcs are permitted for highschool, most teachers are going to expect you to have a ti-83+ or the equivalent (ti-83+ silver, ti-84+ and ti-84+ silver are all basicly the same calc lol) i personally own a ti-83+ and a ti-84+ SE, i use both of them on a regular basis... i had to buy the 83 freshman year... and I write alot of advanced calculator programs, which run about 3-4 times as fast on my 84 as they do on the 83 (which is why i bought the 84 last yeaR)... thats the major difference between the two (aswell as alot of included geometry-related apps which so far i have found useless) of course, the memory on the calc progressives as you move up the list... so thats also nice the ti86/ti89 aren't standardly used in most highschool programs, although a friend of mine had a ti89 and i remember it basicly did everything for you.. he used to check his answers, but he couldnt really use it to do the problems because he was required to show work [02] -RuneScript- *** [ END ]: You gained 444,384 prayer exp in 5secs. That's 319,956,480 exp/h.
misterxman
TI83+ is very good, you can use it for any Calculus class. Most schools and colleges will let you use it for sure so I highly recommend it, anything higher such as TI85 just may not be allowed and not worth letting sit around. trapical
Use a Casio. There cheaper and do twice as much. Example, the common TI 30 is used by nearly every school grades 6-10. Its like 10-15 bucks: It does the basics, you know add, square, sine, etc Here is Casio's version, Not only can it just as much as the TI, but in addition it can do a plethora of Calculus funcions. You can type in "4x + 827.9 + 7x = 100x" and it will tell you what X equals, it can also solve 2 equations with 2 varibles, or 3 equantions with 3 variables, it can solve those pesky X squred or cubed equations (you'll never have to use the quadratic formula again), it even solves derivites and intragals no matter how complex they are. If I had a TI-30 in calculus I would have gotten a C or low B; but I had this puppy and used it on 90% of the final. I got a 94% in the class. Cost: $11 8)
runesmithie
If you haven't noticed from the calculators I was choosing from ... I need a graphing calculator, and from what bestbuy.com says, there is one casio graphing calculator... it's touchscreen Meh, too fancy to be useful IMO, I can see lots of ways that could go bad (but yeah, I'll be getting that number you mentioned too) I just posted something! ^_^ to the terrorist...er... kirbybeam. runesmithie
Use a Casio. There cheaper and do twice as much. So far I've decided to get the FX115MS (The one in the picture :P) and a TI89 for hopes of it lasting me through a majority of college (If any classes won't let me use itI guess I'll shell out the 40-50 for a casio graphing calc =\) I just posted something! ^_^ to the terrorist...er... kirbybeam. Faux
My parents got me a TI-84 non silver one. It's pretty ok but haven't used it a lot yet. Anyone recommend me games? :: Guess the Movie Contest Champion: pfilc23 ::
limpxbizkid
My parents got me a TI-84 non silver one. It's pretty ok but haven't used it a lot yet. Anyone recommend me games? check the TI site (ti.com) or http://www.ticalc.org/pub/83plus/basic/games/. ive got a ti84+ that i use for uni, during highschool i had a ti83. apparently ti84+ is 2.5 times faster than ti83 at processing, which is a bit of an advantage for games (running games that work on 84+ or higher...which is none that i can think of :? ). when i was in highschool all silver editions were banned from exams, got no idea why though...
