Making junk

Featured Replies

What are the best ways to make junk and how much junk value/hour do the methods yield?

My favorite junk making method was buying Maple Logs, then Fletching into Maple Longbow (u)'s. It was decently fast, a lot of price increase, and not too boring considering you can chat with people.

How many bows per hour can you fletch?

I used the "casual" method: just let the junk come to you by using a combination o fletching, smithing and crafting. Sorry that I don't really have any concrete information.

I have some junk ready to sell if you're interested...

And what purpose would that serve to him?

Sorry to jump in and hijack your topic OP but..

Maple longs seems like a good solution.

If I make about 15-20k maple longs (u) (2.16M to 2.88M gp according to the price of maple longs (u) on the g/e?), can I use it to trade for a verac's set (story: left 4 years ago, gave it, along with a number of other items to a friend, who was gonna give it back when I came back to the game a month ago, but we realized she couldn't).. Is that how "junk" works?

Yep, that's the purpose of junk. To get around the trade limits by using it as a substitute for cash.

To answer the original question, most times, you can make more cash per hour than junk per hour. It's good for pures/low-levels/ect. because it only requires 55(?) fletching to be able to make 250-300k per hour. It's not hard to do at all, you can read a book, watch a movie or something else while you do it.

How about this, I will do some calculations for you guys since you still think junk is a good idea.

1k Maple Logs = 37k gp

1k Maple Long (u) = 144k

That is 107k gp for 1k logs into maple longbow(u). It takes 1 hour to do 1k bows, so you are only making 107k per hour. With normal money making methods you can make over 200k an hour easy, 300k+ if you know how to do any of them decently.

YES, I agree, junk IS useless 99% of the time.. I even dismissed it a while ago when someone suggested it on here.. There's a huge opportunity cost.. BUT, since I was planning on raising my fletching anyways, it seems like a pretty damn good idea. If it wasn't for the fletching xp, there's no way I'd do it, cause just like you said, you can make more money doing other things.

In my case:

-Going from 63-75 fletching (big motivation)

-cost of the logs - ~700k

-profit (after I get my verac's back which I plan on selling away) - ~2M

No problem and yes, you can do that. It's quicker to make the money with a regular method and bolts are faster exp though.

I could buy junk easily if I wanted to.

Thank you, this is the kind of information I was looking for. Does anybody know better methods? Prehaps some NPC trading item that is somewhat stable?

A less earning way of *acquiring* junk is to borrow d claws/godswords/rares from other players from 20-100k an hour. Of course, the junk you assemble is directly converted from your cash pile, and sometimes even less.

Current goals:

Hunter 78/80

Smithing 70/80

Runecrafting 58/60

Strength 96/99

Defense 45/46

Prayer 72/95

Dungeoneering 85/100
