Giordano
Fantastic rant! =D> Have a Pepsi. : I agreed with everything you said minus the parts about randomness. Sometimes randomness is very funny when used properly. Aqua Teen Hunger Force and Super Jail live off of it and I feel they did a very good job with the comedic insanity. I can't say the same for Xavier, but, like someone already mentioned, it's a mind [bleep]. And, lol @ Verma. I laughed so hard I don't know why. I must of missed that. I'm not against randomness, like you said, it's brilliant when used properly. But most writers and directors can't seem to do that nowadays. They try to add something so off-topic in hopes that the sudden change of pace will "suprise" the audience and make them laugh. A easy, good type of randomness is a reference to something that happened in the past of the episode. But they can't even do that sometimes. Zierro
It's the shows that are nothing but people shouting out random words that really suck, and show no effort whatsoever. Like Tim and Eric? :x
Poppet
The new Cartoon Network isn't worse than the old its just things changed to another appeal. CnReal: It is really bad and overly hyped up. New Cartoons: Star Wars does well, Chowder has its good points sometimes in episodes, Flapjack has good episodes through also bad episodes :l, Pokemon I want Johto episodes instead those were great the new has its good points :D, Ben 10 has a good story, Yu-gi-oh 5ds its still great with a darker theme :D, anything else I forgot or its terrible. 22pepsi22
The first time I saw Yu-Gi-Oh 5d's I thought... what? A deragatory caste term, Satellites? The FACILITY? Duel runners? :o It was like um... Yu-Gi-Oh sort of combined with that whole apocalyptic "Escape from New York City" attitude. Except it's not criminals, "lower class" people. Escape from New York City is a good movie if you haven't seen/heard about it.
Harakiri
Because it wasn't stupid enough having a whole school dedicated to a card game, let alone a whole culture surrounded by this game... SALES PITCH: "Kids love Yu-Gi-Oh, but we need to think of a new idea..." "Kid has to have crazy hair..." "Yes." "Kid has to play duel monsters and always win." "Yes." "AND THEY RIDE ON MOTORCYCLES IN AN APOCALYPTIC WORLD!" "YES YES YES!!!! WRITE A SCRIPT NOW, MAKE A MANGA, AND LET'S START PRODUCTION ON THE CARDS!" "WOOT!" "THE HEART OF THE CARDS GIVES US MONEY [bleep]ES!" "But why can't they just play cards while not driving? Why do they have to do it on a motorcycle...wouldn't they run into something?" "YOU'RE FIRED! WE CAN DO WHATEVER WE WANT! The next series, Yu-Gi-Oh The Gunslinger will be about cowboys riding around and playing Yu Gi Oh cards, and the cowboys will actually be Egyptian gods reincarnated from Earth!" "YES YES!" 22pepsi22
Well, I was just notified of this article by one of my friends. http://www.ajc.com/metro/content/sports ... rtoon.html Apparently PGA wants to "educate" kids about golf... by using Cartoon Network as a median... I'm just hoping it stays to "cartoon network/golf t-shirts and such and doesn't involve into a "golf cartoon" or, Heaven-forbid, golf actually showing up on cartoon network. /wtfmoment Honestly, I don't think "growing up" has anything to do with the way shows are interpreted on Cartoon Network. I still get a kick out of some of the shows on now, because I believe that's what a cartoon should be. Wild and crazy antics with good plot line. If you want to watch teenagers all day (kind of creepy) go to the mall yourself.
Kiriyama
Face it, they have a new target audience, and are trying to appeal to them more. They see what others are doing, and do something similar. We're no longer their target. Otherwise, we'd have the shows we remember showing more. Denizen of Darkness| PSN= sworddude198
Harakiri
Question: What's the best sport for kids? Answer: Golf Man 1: What? Golf is slow and boring and not loud. Why the hell would kids care to play it or watch it if it's boring? Man 2: But think of all the money we will make by tacking pictures of the kids favorite cartoons onto golf stuff. Man 1: We're probably going to air the PGA Tour too? I mean, it's better than our prime time lineup, but nobody will watch it. Man 2: We'll do it anyway. Man 3: We can't destroy the channel anymore than we already have. Man 1: That's true.
Giordano
Face it, they have a new target audience, and are trying to appeal to them more. They see what others are doing, and do something similar. We're no longer their target. Otherwise, we'd have the shows we remember showing more. And you actually accept that? I don't want a stupid society where drama is the driving force of life. Cartoons before didn't do that. Cartoons were made to entertain you, not to influence you to get a new boyfriend to get popular. The problem is this Popular Trait Objective. The cartoons/shows's primary goal is to make kids think the shows are cool by giving them a [cabbage]load of unnessesary drama, working together to get through pointless, stupid [cabbage] (like Stacy asking Kevin to the dance, OMG he was mine), and over-used storylines that get boring after the first three shows you watched with the same episode. And the watchers are eating this [cabbage] like hotcakes. And the other side of the coin: shows that are based on an anti-popular character; geek, nerd, etc. The morals of the show is to be unique, be yourself, basically be against the main crowd. Again, that just creates ANOTHER crowd that you're gonna be a part of. COUNTER-PRODUCTIVE! We need our shows to strike motivation and influence. Our shows, movies, and other media. Not to push the glorified popular life all over the place. -- My last rant, but a very good one: Machinima is a popular form of cheap-film making. And it makes me laugh so hard to see that these guys who make machinima, don't get paid a penny, yet, can conjure up a story a hundred times better than the multi-million executives owning these cartoon stations. It's really pityful for CN. :| "The cry of the poor is not always just, but if you never hear it you'll never know what justice is."
Sam
I have noticed the slow degeneration of Cartoon Network recently. It's a shame really, because it's Cartoon Network, right? It's slowly turning into the rubbish that is the Disney Channel. 2257AD.TUMBLR.COM
Kiriyama
I don't want it to be true, though the fact is, it has happened. To be honest, I wished they'd show more of what we had while growing up. Let the kids reamain kids. Damn, Old episodes of Ed, Edd and Eddy, Courage the Cowardly Dog, (old) Tom and Jerry, Scooby Doo. All of those were great shows. Tom and Jerry being the longest running, yet now, I rarely see them on during times when kids are more likely to be watching. I don't know why, they'd let kids remain kids instead of forcing stuff upon them, making them think it's good to grow up quicker and worry about these things. Right now, I rarely bother watching T.V. because it's pretty much all crap that attempts to be funny, whether it be stupid situations, (badly done) slapstick comedy or just plain "randomness". I agree with you on a lot of points, almost all the media now seems to focus on "school life", or rather a bad representation of it, or even "normal life". Really, if I had to rant about anything in particular, I'd be how some shows are referring to older progamming now, that the target age probably are unlikely to really understand. It pisses me off. They are nowhere near as great as them, they shouldn't refer to them. Plus, regarding your rant there, I haven't watched any Machinima, but I'll take your word for it, anything has to be better than the shows they are putting out. Riku3220
You're doing it again. You're all comparing today's shows to the shows that you used to watch. The shows you used to watch are of course going to be in a higher light to you because they made you laugh when you were a kid. You've grown up now so children's jokes don't entertain you anymore and you over glorify the old ones. Take Tom & Jerry for example. You all say that television just shows nothing but randomness but that's all T&J was made out of. It was also the same thing in every episode, just Tom getting owned by Jerry, I was around 5 or 6 at the time maybe but I know it got old, fast. Scooby-Doo had a freaking "live audience" that laughed when a joke was supposed to be funny but it never was funny. The "mysteries" were pure random and the main gags were Scooby having his snacks stolen and Shaggy getting his food eaten. Cartoons have always been random and nothing has changed. Watch an episode of Tom & Jerry or Scooby-Doo and you'll know it's as great as you're making it out to be. You've all grown up, DEAL WITH IT. 22pepsi22
Everyone get ready for... Scooby-Doo: The Mystery Begins! It's the LIVE-ACTION version of the Scooby-Doo cartoons. How could this go wrong? Well, except for the fact that the other live-action Scooby-Doo movies were bleheh and I doubt the new t.v. series would have enough funding to even match the amount of bleheh-ness those produced. It's coming in fall by the way. Even if we are comparing today's Cartoon Network to yesterday's, there's one thing you cannot deny about yesterday's. It was Cartoon Network. Only cartoons. That's what made it so popular. It wasn't like Nick or Disney Channel with their variation of cartoons and live-action. It was 100% animated. Now it's turning into a 75% live-action and 25% cartoon channel. How is that "Cartoon Network?" There's less animation than there is acting.

Harakiri
I was stupid enough to watch the Ben 10 live action movie (That they are making a sequel too :? ) and I have to say that when it comes to Cartoon Network, they have no talent in doing live action stuff. I'm watching Brain Rush at the moment. I don't understand why a roller coaster would screw you up during questions (I could do it simply, I have been on enough roller coasters that it doesn't bother me). All the questions are easy too. Hell, I want some money. I gotta find out where I can do that show.
22pepsi22
In any event... If you're going to make a terrible show, at least make it a cartoon. Or, change the channel name, because it's not "Cartoon Network" anymore. You may be content with watching recycled reality t.v. shows copied from pre-existing shows on other channels, but, I expect more from them. I expect them to show something new (that is a cartoon) like they had been able to do for years and years before this new "teen-age." Hah, I made a pun. :

Harakiri
God, Bleach is getting lame. Albel
I remember back in the day, waking up to a bowl of cereal (Captain crunch ) and watching old shows like, and just to name a few... 1.Tom and Jerry. 2.Bugs Bunny, daffy duck ect... 3.Road runner and coyote 4.Marvin Martian. Thoses were the days, where being cool was having a Tom and jerry shirt  Now we have....umm the only good thing on there now is Start wars. Adult swim is ok sometimes, ATHF is funny and who can forget Family guy. On saturday, Adult swim has some anime (Which I love). But even then, the only good ones in my opinion is Ghost In the Shell, and Cowboy bebop. In my honest opinion, Cartoon network started going down hill after they got rid of toonami. A lot of good shows were on there, and the pretty much destroyed CNW for me. Now I watch The discovery and history channel. Hawks
I miss the days when Looney Tunes was on from like 8 to 11 on Saturday mornings. My dad has an obsession with it though so we have all 6 Golden Collections. Total Drama Island/Action is so dumb I find it funny. It's kind of addicting to watch if you can get past the inherent stupidity of the show to begin with. I don't ever watch Adult Swim... I used to watch Ed, Ed, and Eddy but then I decided it was stupid (and was banned from watching it)... too much 'buttered toast!'. Also watched Dexter's Lab, it was amusing... used to watch the powder puff girls as well. Billy and Mandy is entertaining, I didn't see Foster's a lot before it was cancelled but it seemed like a decent show. Slamball is epic. I'm loving the fact that it's on CN. sig by Soa.....tip.it times.....art & mediadeviantart/flickr/last.fm/steam/twitter/tumblr/youtube
sarg1010
Foster's was cancelled? WTF?! Even for such a... kiddie(ish) show, I found it pretty good. Ed, Edd, and Eddy was an epic show IMO, and when they finally pulled that, I gave up and moved on. Does anyone else remember a show with a trucker-kid with a giant robot car thing? That was a pretty cool show back in the day to me. Toonami used to be cool until Tom got all buffed and crap. Adult Swim is good as well, except that Squidbillies show... lame... And I haven't watched Bleach much but have they even killed any of those monster things with the white faces? It doesn't seem like they are focusing on the cool things. I'd like to see an episode with the whole Soul Society just go all-out war on those things. Unfinished netherrack symbol of Khorne. Never forget. ~creeper face w/single tear~ DO YOU HEAR THE VOICES TOO?!?!
Returned3
Here in Singapore, the only "Live-Action" film that CN has aired was the horrid "Ben 10" movie. Way to make the cartoon series look bad. As of now I think we're still pretty far behind in shows when compared to other countries. Of course, shows like "Secret Saturdays" are boring and most of them seem to be rushed cartoons without any passion in them. I remember Cow and Chicken, I am Weasel, Johnny Bravo and many others. Those were awesome. Shows like "Powerpuff Girls" were good too, until the newer episodes arrived and eventually the horrible "Powerpuff Girls Z" came. Now I mainly watch CN for Ben 10, Ben 10: Alien Force and Naruto. 00:00:0500:00:0400:00:0300:00:0200:00:0100:00:00 Break the Walls down!
