Craiglowery
Does anyone here use a messenger bag? I've been looking into them for my commute to school but I really don't know what to get. I want something comfortable(30 mile commute) and something that will last. I'm deciding between a Chrome bag or a Baileyworks bag, but does anyone have any other suggestions? Lenticular_J
Wait, you bike thirty miles to school? I have a feeling you just take the subway or something, but I don't know if Bakersfield is that big of a city ... Either way I vote just get a good backpack. Messenger bags aren't for riding, or holding a lot of stuff in - at least the one I used to have wasn't. Plus they get annoying as hell to just walk with them. Guess I'm not used to holding what is, essentially, a man purse. Although when I become a man and can't bring a backpack everywhere, I will be sad. catch it now so you can like it before it went so mainstream

Messenger bags like the ones he posted are designed for "bike" messengers. The messenger bag you probably had was a canvas one designed more for style then functionality. I personally use a Manhattan Portage Cornell bag.

I meant 30 miles roundtrip, Bakersfield is pretty big and I live near the outskirts of town so a typical drive from my house to school can take 20-25 minutes, depending on traffic, and by bus it takes anywhere from 1 1/2 - 2 hours. By biking I can get there in a little over an hour and I get a sweet workout! And I've tried a backpack on a bike but it sways around too much, and they're not very comfortable on a bike. And stevepole, those bags look pretty sweet, would you suggest them? I was looking into MP but I havent heard much about them.

Get a Chrome bag, they're expensive but bombproof as messenger bags go, guy at work has one and about 9/10 couriers coming into the shop have, yet to see one returned under warranty. Plus you're right, that's a very good workout. And if I had to choose one of those bags, I think the Chrome one looks cooler. You'll have all the ladies into bike messengers. catch it now so you can like it before it went so mainstream

I've worn a Chrome before and they're pretty stylin', though the big buckle is pretty scary. I wouldn't want anyone pressing it when I have a full load, the bag instantly drops when it's pressed. Im going to San Francisco later this month so I'll stop by the store and check them out.
Craiglowery
[yt]93UzcOVdYPM[/yt] That race is insane! Those bikes are pretty awesome too, and downhill is always exciting to watch. Has anyone gone downhill biking? I would love to do it but I have a hardtail, and I'm pretty sure that ride would not be fun at all.
AndyPandy
Im getting this, these and this soon. Very nice : So don't let anyone tell you you're not worth the earth, These streets are your streets, this turf is your turf, Don't let anyone tell you that you've got to give in, Cos you can make a difference, you can change everything, Just let your dreams be your pilot, your imagination your fuel, Tear up the book and write your own damn rules, Use all that heart, hope and soul that you've got, And the love and the rage that you feel in your gut, And realise that the other world that you're always looking for, Lies right here in front of us, just outside this door, And it's up to you to go out there and paint the canvas, After all, you were put on the earth to do this, So shine your light so bright that all can see, Take pride in being whoever the [bleep] you want to be. forestfrolic
A bicycle thread. Last summer I discovered the joy and freedom cycling has to offer when one day I just decided to ride my bike to not place in particular, just to ride. I live in a mountainous forest area, so it was really scenic and refreshing. I ended up getting in good shape and started to ride 20 plus kilometers a day. I ride a Trek Mountain Track 820 that's a bit old, but it holds up. Unfortunately I had surgery recently so I haven't been able to ride.. and it's killing me. Right now I'm looking into taking a bicycle mechanic class at my local store, so I can get a job there. And I either want to get a nice Trek hardtail, or build a fixie. I realise fixies have become somewhat of a scene thing, but hell.. I fit right in. EDIT: If you like watching fixed gear videos, there's a huge community on vimeo. I'll link some videos here in the morning. Nemo vir est qui mundum non reddat meliorem..
AndyPandy
Guys, I need a hand. I'm starting to ride trails, and I've got a problem. I can clear jumps most of the time just fine, land ok etc, but every so often, my bars will naturally turn about 2/3rds of the way towards a t-bar. When in this position, my arms just go stiff, and I just can't change it. I've had some bad faceplants because of it. I really want to be able to move freely if I get into the wrong position, but I just can't. So don't let anyone tell you you're not worth the earth, These streets are your streets, this turf is your turf, Don't let anyone tell you that you've got to give in, Cos you can make a difference, you can change everything, Just let your dreams be your pilot, your imagination your fuel, Tear up the book and write your own damn rules, Use all that heart, hope and soul that you've got, And the love and the rage that you feel in your gut, And realise that the other world that you're always looking for, Lies right here in front of us, just outside this door, And it's up to you to go out there and paint the canvas, After all, you were put on the earth to do this, So shine your light so bright that all can see, Take pride in being whoever the [bleep] you want to be. AndyPandy
Practice pulling x-up manuals on the ground and see if that does anything. Hmm. Manuals are a [bleep] to pull off on my bike. The front end of the frame is really low, so to get it up my arse has to be pretty much behind the rear tire. I cn manual while going up a ramp though. AdamMonkey0
Before the summer, I'd ride by bike around 2 hours a day. Quite enjoyable, I must say :D. Then my hat mysteriously vanished, and I don't really like riding my bike with a fro. Mum bought me a hat, so now... hoping to get back on the road and discover some city parks or something :)
