cjlhdevil
Nah, that controller just might work. Good job Nintendo on being original, and innovative. It's nice to see something different, more appealing to a wider range or people. Like it was said earlier, this controler aims towards the older crowd, more casual people, rather than die hard gamers. It suits die hard gamers just fine, but a new generation. I'm sure halo players won't want to see this thing popping up for use on their X Box  Anyhow, I like it. The thing is, Nintendo continues to have child like games, so what're they doing in creating a new controller, aimed at an older age range? The reason Nintendo can't compete in the market is because they don't have top games, like the 2k sport series, or Halo, and games like that. Nintendo has again, a more child like feel. The mario series is AMAZING don't get me wrong, but if Nintendo does intend to compete in the gaming industry, it's gotta go mainstream, and tap into the teen market.I gotta agree with this, I've done my fair share of nintendo bashing over the years and am still not THAT impressed with the actual look and things from it, but for taking risks I gotta give them credit where credit is due. But I still feel this is even more teen only then the last ones, I just can't see adults all sitting there waving their arms around like idiots. To a teenager you just laugh it off with your mates and take the piss out of each other. I just can't see 40 year old men doing this while very little emotion can be showed with an xbox or ps3 controller

Commandant
you hold it with 1 hand and it's like an arcade game like Area 51...hmm...say your playing a FPS on the Revolution, you just point the remote in the direction you want to shoot and press the fire trigger.. it's simple but in my veiw i think it will bomb
Hukaideez
Kudos to Nintendo for coming up with a nice original idea. It'll take some getting used to but it could ( and should) completely revolutionise gaming as we know it.
Papickett
The Nintendo DS' touchscreen was thought of to be just a novelty. Now look at it. It still is a gimmick because develpers just slap together a pile of crap and call it a game without even putting the touch screen to good use. The same thing will happen with the Revolution. They are both great ideas but aren't (and probably won't) be realized to their full potential. All that I'm saying is to not get your hopes up. The DS is different because you can really use it to enhance the current games. With the Rev's remote, you can. It's that simple. Also, nice signature. You'll know how wrong you were in a few years. Can you say VIRTUAL BOY?!? Gamertag: Dances w NinjasRetired(Oh noes!) Evil_Elf
Comparing the Revolution to the Virtual Boy is pretty lame, I mean at least this thing has a shot at success. 1, Its in more colors than red and black. 2, you don't have to shove your face into it. Thats enough right there.

Thats enough right there. Nintendo is just trying to make a comeback in the console wars, and who can blame em? this last console war Nintendo bombed because they didn't appeal to a wider audience, they were making games for children and barely any M rated games were on the GC, because we all know that people love violence, i run into like 20 different 7 year olds on xbox live everyday on halo 2, even if you look on the back of the game case down near "xbox live requirments" it says "Xbox Live is not intended for children under the age of 13, but parents these days are to worried about pleasing their children other then watching out for what their kids are playing and i know this is kind of off topic but I'll get back to Nintendo now, sorry, I'm not saying I hope the Nintendo fails this generation because it would be nice to see 3 consoles instead of 2 going at it this time around, but Nintendo better make sure that this "controller" better work or their going to have a hard time, but at this point my eyes are set on the X360.well I'l talk to you all later and if you have xbox live and you wanna hang out and do some glitches and stuff just message me. Actually, each system kinda bombed in different places. The GC had a tough time in America because children these days are only concerned with playing the "cool games" with drugs, violence, sex and "bad words". The Xbox didn't sell worth crap in Japan because it had nothing that appealed to the Japanese audience (basically, no drug induced games or games with wide-eyed children aimed towards petifiles). But here's another thing you should consider when looking at the Revolution: Third Party Games How the hell do you plan on playing Madden or any other third party game on the Revolution as smoothly as you do on the other consoles. Like I said: Great idea but ahead of its time. [OFF TOPIC]Ninja Gaiden: Black is really out today!!! If you own an Xbox, buy it immediatley!!![/OFF TOPIC] Gamertag: Dances w NinjasRetired(Oh noes!) JohnnySmum
I think the success of this Revolutionary (this is the revolutionary part of the console) controller will depend on how well game developers exploit the new capabilities it provides. Looking forward to using it in RPG/Adventure games as a virtual hand to interact with objects :)

Good point, I was wondering about that too. Example, if a LOTR game comes out the studio would want it availble to as many people as possible, so it would be the standard controller type game for the Ps3 and 360. Would they redo the entire game to fit the Rev? :?. I don't know. No one does. One the other hand IGN confirmed "Praise for Revolution controller from Hideo Kojima and Square Enix" We can only assume these 3rd parties liked the Dev Kits they recieved. Like I said: Great idea but ahead of its time. You know, if you actually bothered to look into the Revolution's remote, you'd know that Nintendo is planning a shell for the remote so the remote transforms into a traditional looking controller. This is primarily intended for playing SNES, N64 (and maybe Gamecube) games. As well as games that are multiplatform that really need a traditional layout controller. So, with that in mind... Revolution's controller > All.
Ruzbeh
] Check out the black one. HAWT! The blue lights go incredibly well with shiny black. The controller looks great. The materials look very nice. Very iPod. It's also very small. GO GO GO!!

____
I doubt they would totally skip it. Square Enix seems to like the setup of the Revolution Controller so you only really assume that it isn't going to be overly hard to make games for. Some might even be easier to make under the Revolution. But there's really only one way to find out... *waits*

Commandant
you see....Nintendo is trying so hard to be "unique" that they don't realize that their making a mistake... as some of you pointed out.. third party games... if they do make it to the Rev then it will most likely be harder to play them on Nintendos console unlike MS and Sony...And besides I do believe the Rev will be compatible with the GC controller so Nintendo fanboys have nothing to worry about... an also I'm just pointing out to those of you that probably didn't notice... you can flip the remote horizontally making it look like a NES controller....just for those of you that didn't know.... Greatsilverwyrm
I think PA's Tycho illustrates quite well my opinion on the subject: http://penny-arcade.com/news.php?date=2005-09-21 (some inappropriate language prolly, dun yell at me) One line in particular: Excuse me, I forgot. It's not innovation unless it involves another texture pass. He's basically saying that Nintendo's stuff is always so in-freaking-credibly awesome and unique that it doesn't matter that they're not going "mainstream" or whatever. I mean.. first person shooters are great and all, but there's only so many ways you can shoot a guy in the head before it all starts running together. I beleive they will always have at least a large-enough niche' market that they can stay up. However I also beleive that they will most likely retain more than that, and that the actual innovation of their stuff will keep the people they have, and bring new people.
