Ok, so I was just at World 76 playing Mobilising Armies, trying to get my rank up. I'm only rank 74 right now simply because I really don't have the time anymore to play 10 hours a day and get 75+ ranks per day. Well, this guy in the 200+ rank clothing was playing Hoard with me and 2 other people, and was attacking people, apparently thinking it is the best strategy for the game. Well, needless to say, he lost and I won by about 25k gp.

 

 

 

He comes up to me after the game as I am buying more special units and says, "I let u live," and runs off to the recruitment area to revive some of his dead squads.

 

 

 

I'm thinking, "What? You LET me live?" How very arrogant, right? Perhaps I won the game because I was simply better at coming up with a strategy for the current situations I was in.

 

 

 

Well, I play another game. I end up playing with the sam guy again, and again, I win by about 20k gp.

 

 

 

He says nothing this time, and neither do I, but I am secretly laughing inside my head that a guy with such talk has absolutely no walk to back it up.

 

 

 

Well, third game comes around, and once more I get him in a game with me. The same snob in the same jade-colored clothing with the same lame attacking strategy.

 

 

 

Well, I win again, this time by more than 30k gp, and I thinking, "Wow...he's really bad at this. He won't learn from his mistakes about combat in hoard."

 

 

 

So I pm him and say, "Wow, you're letting me live a lot today, huh?" and immediately I get a barrage of insults and ill-tempered retorts, like "I was on the phone with my gf, wtf do you want from me, noob?" and "Ur a ****** junior cadet. If I was paying attention I could beat u everytime."

 

 

 

Now I'm mad. "Excuse me," I say. "Maybe the reason you're losing is because your attacking strategy isn't enough to let you win hoard. And futhermore, you don't need to get nasty with me. You were the one with the original jerk comment, not me."

 

 

 

And with that said he goes, "Whatever, ur not worth it, noob." and he puts me on ignore.

 

 

 

Ok...so I'm sitting there going, "Really? That was just dumb."

 

 

 

My point is, people in MA reflect what usually is said about high levels in combat in the "real rs world." There are people who normally don't get the spotlight because they don't like training combat or whatever their preference is, but because a game gets released were you can show off your rank with some clothing they automatically get an ego boost for the worst.

 

 

 

Now, in combat and such, I can truthfully say that I know more about what God Wars is like over someone who can't get in, but in Mobilising Armies, it's the same 4 games and you can play them at the lowest ranks. This guy is assuming because he's over rank 200 that it automatically means his strategies are better than everyone else's. I think that's really ingorant. Yes, I'm in the navy blue MA clothing, and yes my rank is only 74, but apparently when put next to this supposed "master of MA" my way of playing hoard beats his. In his mind though, I am just a noob not worth his time because I can't wear his pretty jade clothing. :wall:

 

 

 

Has anyone else encounted people like this while playing the minigame? So far he has been the only person who has given me such rude behavior but I'm sure others have met some people just like this.

No no. I'm very aware and I've been apart of the internet nastiness for over 10 years.

 

 

 

I'm just saying that it's funny because unlike most cases in Runescape, you don't need a higher level or rank to be able to "function the best" at the game. In fishing, someone with 99 fishing will fish faster than someone with 85. In slayer, someone with 90 Slayer can slay Dark Beasts, anyone level 84 or below cannot. But in MA, your strategy has nothing to do with your rank or levels. This is the only minigame of it's kind in Runescape and never before has there really been a "real" strategy game or area like this in Runescape. Someone with only rank 5 could easily beat out the top MA player if they're better at these kinds of games.

The player with more rank would probably have more experience with the game, though; therefore, the higher ranked player would win in a game with less experienced players. (Maybe if a good player was playing on an alt, or something?) However, even if a lower ranked player beats a higher ranked player in a game, the higher ranked player should respect the skill of the lower ranked player.

 

 

 

On the other hand, if you are so familiar with the Internet, then why do you bother wasting your time posting this thread just because you find this situation amusing? Everyone knows that the Rants sections is full of flaming trolls.

As a rank 130 something, I have to agree with you. I have played many people, and defeated most of them, at hoard with basic strategies and have gotten chased down and insulted because I "wasn't playing the way the game says I should".

 

 

 

To me, all this game shows is how smart people really are, because they can't simply hide behind a combat level, they actually have to think about a strategy that will work. Compared to the Command and Conquer games that I'm enamored with, this is a very simple game. It doesn't mean that I'm the best at it, but it does give me some background information for strategies. Instead of listening to people that have some idea and know some strategies, they flame quick retorts that either express their true demeanor or make them look like idiots.

I was playing hoard, not conflict, and I seperate my squads to each of the caves. 2 on 2 caves and 3 on 2 caves, then when I see that one of the caves has a majority of the players on it, I take the squads from that cave and go to the less crowded ones to maximise my earnings that game. In conflict, I am not a camper, I get in the action since I know that games will only last longer when you camp. (And anyway, conflict isn't the best way to earn rank unless you have a clan that does the chompa method, and even then it's random.)

 

 

 

And 3rkid, get over it. You had a tif with me before and you're using that to pass judgments on something about me you know nothing about. You can't assume you know how I play a strategy-based game just because you don't like me. lol.

 

 

 

Either way, this is a rant, I made it because that's what rant forums are for. I didn't post it in general discussion or anywhere else because I expected there to be a complete massive discussion on it. I asked for people to post similar situations, not really for people like 3rkid and RayOxide to come spray their negativity all over it. lol. You're more than welcome to if you want, though, really. I'll just ignore it after this. :|

It makes me angry too, and I completely understand why you thought it. I didn't really specify how I was winning against him and it would be natural to think I was just camping or something. I don't do it because I know how frustrating (and generally useless) it really is. :lol:

No, you're absolutely right. That's why I chose the rants forums to put it on. I find the rants forums a way to vent on things that ultimately you don't care about 1 hour later but at the time you're steaming. lol.

Don't mean to be rude, but this IS what a rants forum is for. Rants aren't meant to be discussions. Rants are usually angry tangents people going on for a long-winded period of time about something that yanks their chain. When you rant to someone about something you just want them to listen, not really respond. That's what this forum is supposed to be used for, really.

 

 

 

I just rant nicer than most. I don't include a lot of vile language or uneccessary rudeness.

 

 

 

Either way, I don't think it clutters the forums. I think it belongs right where it is and should stay here should anyone else want to rant about a similar subject.

Ugh, I know what you're feeling. I have 8 (yes, 8!) rank points. I beat someone 4 or 5 times in a row in Hoard. He had War-Chief clothes. (What rank is that again?) He called me a noob who didn't know how to play, and that he'd let me win out of his "generuz hart." (No kidding on the spelling, either.)

 

 

 

Now, really? If I attack your completely Goblin team with my 5 dwarves and win, how is that not right? The point of Hoard is get 100,000 gold first, all I did was defeat your army to get to your cave.
